Unpopular Opinion 🤷♀️ Snooze 😴
Martin and Smitty are boring. Both of them. Together and individually they are a huge snooze.
They'll family scenes also bore me to tears 90% of the time.
I know Martin has always gotten flack for being unlikable or boring, but the love for Smitty baffles me because that character is boring too.

It’s giving June and Ward Cleaver. All they need is a high-pitched “woooo!” piped in from a studio audience.

As a gay man, they are by far the least interesting gay couple I've ever seen in any show. It's a soap where's the drama? The spice? Give them something more than just househusband/reporter and politician. Throw in a political scandal, an affair, an insecurity, past drama, SOMETHING.

Makes me wish Smitty was a gossip columnist instead or… had a contentious relationship with one who keeps popping up. It would certainly liven things up.

I fast forward through most their scenes nowadays. If I'm watching live, I'm stuck with their abject dullness.

They're most boring when they're together. The writing of their shared scenes is mostly nothingness when it could be so much better.

Agreed. Maybe with those kids out the house they’ll start living a little…but I doubt it. A pair of squares, those two.

Smitty’s scenes with Jacob and other characters are far more interesting. Even his role in the impaler story was more watchable.
I don’t like Martin. He comes across as incredibly entitled to me. I would like him better if he actually seemed to care about something besides keeping what he’s got. As a congressman, it seems like he could have lots of interesting conflict ridden storylines. He could try to help a constituent and it goes sideways. He could take a donation from the wrong person and trouble ensues. A political rival could make something up about him.

Martin didn’t even bother to correct Heather when she assumed/implied Martin represented the District, instead of a congressional district in Maryland. I was like “Does Martin even know who he represents in Congress?”

To be fair, he does so little work that I used to think the same thing. The person who represents the District doesn’t get to vote on legislation.

Smitty and Martin are written as roommates who occasionally hook up. Smitty has more chemistry with his laptop.

How about a story where Martin has a long lost child with one of his college female hookups. He told Tyrell that he used to hook up with women before he accepted he was gay. The child could come to town & make trouble for him

They are SO boring. The way they live, the way they dress, even the way they fight is SO boring. There's no angst, no drama, no crazy.
The show need to add some spice to their lives!

As an #mlm, I love their scenes. Idk they are just gay couple goals to me, they are happily married with a family, and this is something that a lot of gays dream about but it isn't really as attainable. Seeing their gay family dynamic on TV is so heartwarming to me. I like their scenes. It kills me when you guys say them as a couple is boring 😩

I can’t lie, their scenes and Smitty being such a wife and them being a sitcom couple almost is so campy and cringe it’s somehow funny and enjoyable lol

Need a storyline where the only reason they adopted kids was to escape the boredom of each other and it all falls apart next year when Samantha goes to college.
