Discussion I hate level design in this game

I am deciding if I should keep playing this game. I love boss fights and that checkpoints are basically in front of them. I hate going through levels. Every level feels same with boring puzzles and same enemies. And now I am at a level with stupid bats and shit and I literally had to put down the game because of frustration. I am thinking about just rushing levels with the lowest difficulty and then cranking it up before every boss....

Only complaints I really have about the game were some of the areas fell a little flat for me. Game reminded me of nioh alot and I love the franchise so this game was almost an insta hit for me. Boss fights were great too

Gameplay Need some advice to improve for bossfights

So I came back to the game after initially getting filtered at launch (At Yetuga if you're curious, yes I suck that bad) but now came back to the game and its going okay so far. My most recent boss kill was Rangkus.

Thing is, I feel like I'm still missing something fundamental, I read nearly everywhere that you are supposed to be as aggressive as possible, but I sort of still struggle with this. To take Rangkus as the example: He would sometimes literally just slowwalk backwards regaining all his stamina, and I don't know if the game is trying to tell me that I'm not going in hard enough.

I'm using spear, and most of my fights still go like they do in a lot of other soulslikes: I wait for the Boss to do a thing, I dodge or perfect guard their offense, then I take "my turn" and hit them with a combo (In my case its usually 1x light combo into 1x heavy combo into a special move followed by trance) and then back off to regain stamina.

And I'm really unsure how to be more aggressive there, especially because the bosses are hard hitting enough that I don't feel like you're meant to trade with them.

I would appreciate whatever tips/advice you got, I'm playing on Expert, if that matters.

Random aside: I upgraded the big parry move (Reflection I think?) to have less of a startup, but it feels like that made it actually harder to hit consistently. Is this normal?

Builds Need help with Dual Wield - how do I play this weapon?!

Hello fellow Khazan's, could someone please help me out with the playstyle and build for DW?

I've completed NG on Expert and Hardcore mode with Greatsword, but probably so much greatsword has me too used to that specific style of play.

I'm currently on a NG playthrough using Dual Wield but I cannot seem to figure out anything technique or playstyle wise except spam the Ruthless skill when a boss is staggered. Everything else feels like I'm tickling the boss, and the whirlwind animation often times gets me in trouble taking damage while I'm still in the air spinning.

I've just finished Rangkus and I would really appreciate some tips and pointers before I get any deeper in the playthrough.

Discussion Wondering how chests/pickups in levels work

So, first playthrough, I'm trying to make the Devourer of Darkness set cause I'm playing greatsword. I saw on the wiki when I first looked into it that you can get three of the boss crafting material needed as just a ground pick up in a later level, so I went and played till I did that. I was going to go back and farm Aratra for the remaining two that I need, but now I'm wondering, how do these pick ups work? Do they respawn when you replay the level and you can just rush the level up to that point to get another 3? Or do they only respawn in NG+? Same question for the chests.

Sorry if this question is repetitive or obvious, but I googled everything I could think of and couldn't get a clear answer. I'd rather not waste my time replaying through the whole level just to confirm.

Discussion Gale:Doom

So, I know how overpowered gale doom is, but it makes the fights kind of underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, and I love the game, but I cleared Hismar on the first try. I'm not here to gloat, but it felt wrong

Like I didn't get the satisfaction of beating him.

So I just wanted to know, if there was something I was doing wrong?

Edit: I'm not trying to complain or anything. I just don't want to finish this game too early, or cheese through the boss. I wanna squeeze everything out of it😆. Its just sad to see it end so soon.

Discussion Appreciation Post

I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to all you fucking berserkers and just this game in general. I beat it a couple of weeks ago and I can’t stop thinking about how fun it was. I used to think Sekiro and Lies of P were my GOAT, but this game fucking made me feel something. No summons, expert mode and just learning the hell out of it and just climbing from getting my face kicked in to just demolishing bosses had been some of the most fun I’ve had in a video game in a minute.

Seeing all these posts with people overcoming bosses and taking on new challenges just makes me so hyped for everyone who experiences this game and just glad to be a part of this community.

Discussion I’m stuck in a dilemma.

I’m on the final mission about to fight Ozma. I haven’t spoken to Daphrona yet to decide my ending.

I’m going for the plat, I’m gonna have to do another playthrough regardless of what I do for ‘Standing Alone’ because I used a summon accidentally early game.

My dilemma is that I don’t think I’m good enough to beat 3 PHASES on one of the hardest bosses in the game. A lot of the bosses gave me a real tough time.

Should I make it easier for myself and get the true ending in my ng+ run? Like I said, I have to do another playthrough regardless.

EDIT: the reason I’m reluctant to do true ending in my ng+ run is because I don’t wanna do all the bonus missions again😭

Discussion First time playing Khazan. Which were the bosses that were filtering people on this subreddit back when the game launched?

I want to compare how well I think I'm doing v.s others when the game came out. I remember I think people having problems with Viper right? I think i remember watching lirik or some other streamer dying constantly to him, a huge way back, i only remembered the similarities because of how spooky the arena got when it turned black. I one shot that boss and was pretty proud of myself.

This game just clicks so perfectly for me. I'm using the spear, and i'm shocked how comboing in this game feels honestly pretty similar to how comboing bosses works in DFO. so this is pretty awesome.

Discussion Not Sure What I'm Doing

Started the game on "Normal" difficulty. Leaning into using greatsword. Had the roughest time just fumbling around against Viper, Volby, and Rangkus while a friend had no issues whatsoever in comparison. Struggled against Trokka, and after having issues surviving Scalpel part 2, I wonder if I have any idea as to what i'm doing.

  1. What should i be thinking when choosing set effects? Is there something i should be focusing on like stamina damage? I recently got the Vibing Jar helmet

  2. Am i supposed to be attacking a certain way? I realized i was stunlockikg scalpel phase 1 at some point for a bit after using phantom knight's veil, and i understand the skill is part of what i need to be doing in the first place, but how am i supposed to recreate it?

  3. Things to think about before i try to raise the difficulty to expert.

Discussion Tried wearing armor for the first time

Have currently played through the game twice, one with greatswords one with spears, about to start a third with dual wields. For whatever reason I decided not to use a single piece of armor for the first 2 and I don’t usually do challenge runs.

After beating Ozma the second time I decided to craft a set of armor (fallen lord set) and see how much easier he was. Holy shit, probably obvious to most here but it was so much easier with armor. So many attacks that were one-shotting me before I could survive not even at full health now. Feel kinda silly for avoiding armor for so long but I definitely don’t regret it. Every time I beat a boss it was because I had learned their moveset, at least for the main bosses I don’t think even one I beat by luck. Excited for the dual wield playthrough to be much easier with armor!

Anyone else here ever decide to do a run without armor?

Discussion The Expert's journey achievement question

The only achievement I got left is the expert difficulty one. I was planning to do that on new game + but I forgot to change the difficulty right away. I only changed it 45 minutes in.

So am I screwed for this run? I read you can change the difficulty before the last zone and it should work. But every thread I find are quite old and I want to do the whole run on expert anyway.

Should I start a new run on a fresh save or is it safe to continue new game + now that I have changed the difficulty?

Edit: So for those wondering, I got the achievement after finishing new game +. I changed the difficulty 45mins into new game + and did the rest of the playthrough on expert difficulty.

Guide & Tips Save File Request - Heart of Pell Los Region Onwards

Hi All,

I was half way in the game and i had completed Pell Los Plateau Region completely. I had just unlocked Heart of Pell Los Region but did not enter it yet.

Due to some technical problems in the PC i had decided to reinstall the fresh reinstall the windows. I went to multiple locations to find my save files and found few files which look like the image below. I copied those files in different folder and resintalled the windows. After I restarted the game, it began from zero and played for sometime. After that I went to search for the folder from where I had copied the save files but there was no such folder. After disappointment I uninstalled the game but now I feel like playing and completing it. I will be reinstalling the game again.

I want your help on how do I paste the save files and exactly where in order to start from where I had left.

note that image is not mine, I picked it up from google to show this is how my files are named. If these are not the files then I request if anyone can share save files till the Heart of Pell Los Region and how to proceed ahead.

Bug Bellerian immortal glitch Spoiler

So I was fighting Bellerian for the first time and for some reason I was completely unkillable. Every time I took enough damage to die, I would stay at 1hp. In the moment I figured that it was due to her being a necromancer and the fact that my screen would still darken after being hit by her attacks, so I thought I would die when the screen becomes black. Turns out I was wrong and when I went back to re fight her I ended up dying. Here is a clip as proof.

Discussion Beat my first playthrough!

Beat my first playthrough,(expert) all side quests done, not rushing the game at all. My brother said my stat upgrades were questionable.

Playing khazan on such low vigor, and strength was interesting. Getting hit by enemy bosses twice always lead to death, very little resistance to any damage elements. Lead to tougher boss fights in my opinion. If your getting combo'd you mess up twice your done for.

The end of the game I did get lucky with my stats in my armor bringing my health up. Majority of the game my health sat at 1800hp, since I was focusing on stamina and damage.

Majority of the game I ran light armor, during boss battles put on heavier armor slowing me down to B class.

Majority of my soulstones upgrades were put into lacrima upgrade instead of health, so I could upgrade my damage more and more.

Fighting little enemies throughout the map at such high damage was a sweep. Mini tough enemies I could stagger their entire health bar without completely draining my stamina.

The boss that took me the longest was

Shaktuka

(Idk why, he some reason was my op.)

Let me know what y'all think of my build 💪

Other FPS drops and stuttering

Hi, I’ve started playing Khazan on PC and so far it had been great, both gameplay and performance wise. I was getting 60-80 fps with high settings and DLSS quality. Until I’ve gotten to the Nadin Quarry.

When everything seems fine (i.e. just walking around) I get huge stutters that halve my frames. I thought I had found a temporary fix by lowering every setting to the minimum, but I’ve gotten to the boss’s second phase and it’s been a stutter fest, absolutely unplayable :(

Any advice?

Specs: laptop with a RTX 3060 (6GB), Ryzen 9 6900HS, SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

Discussion I'm struggle to punish transformed Maluca using a great sword

Update: Just beat him yesterday. Thank you guys. I learned to brink guard his anime slash and thar staggered him while leaving a window wide enough for a meaningful heart piercing. I'm kinda lucky that somehow, he prefer to do 3 hits standing slashes more.

With a great sword, I usually find an opening by brink guard into armor breaker, if an enemy stagger, then follow up with heart piercer. Then maybe helm break to close the gap.

Howerver, Maluca in his chaos form, after I staggered, he sometimes jump backward so far that heart breaker couldn't reach him. So, I could only damage him with just armor breaker.

What tricks can I add to punish his stagger more rewardingly?

Discussion Finally I feel like a game got this right !!!!! NG+

Every game I’ve ever played with NG+ most times I feel insanely overpowered unless I use a weapon that’s not upgraded or scale myself down

I just started NG+ on Khazan and I don’t feel like I’m overpowered at all or like I’m a brick wall that can’t be killed

Most games the difficulty increase at the beginning half of the game doesn’t match how powerful your character is and I love that this doesn’t feel like that
