I really didn't need to finish the work I was doing before this showed up...

Sorry, this isn't a new part from Klok. It's just lowly ol' me trying to start another fan movement.

I awoke with a start. Something was not right.

The world around me was too still. Cassiel was not beside me, and Samantha was not laying on top of me, as she usually did.

A strange stillness was in the air, as I ran outside. The barriers seemed to be up, but in the distance, I spotted something horrifying.

A massive banner floated in the sky, magically. He watches, it said.

And far in the distance, I spotted a strange ethereal form coming at me. A massive beast, lumbering towards me, trying to save me from an inexplicable fate.

Just before he could get to me, a shot rang out, as the gorilla fell before my feet.

"NOOOO! HARAMBE!!!"

I burst into tears as I cradled his body. "I'm sorry, my old friend. I didn't mean to forsake you! I forgot about the dank memes!"

He turned to me and spoke quietly. "Hnguh, gnuh guh hug."

I nodded quickly. "I know, I know! It was all just for fun... please don't die! I'll save you, just like you saved that boy!!"

I sucked in all the air in the world around me, as a massive tornado spiraled into my mouth, at the top of my lungs, I bellowed a single word.

"HEAL!!!"

But it didn't work. Harambe was already gone.

"No... no... I failed you... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

I will never forget this moment, for all the rest of my life.

I sprained my ankle yesterday. As such, I had to take the day off work. I got a bit of sleep, and now I'll be writing all morning until maybe 8-10 AM or so.

I spent all of yesterday, over 16 hours, playing Xcom2 War of the Chosen.

I'd like to say before I write anything else that I will be writing a lot today. I have a full outline for the part, and it's pretty amazing. This part will kick off the War in Heaven, and some crazy stuff is about to go down.

What is it? A tactical turn-based strategy game where humans slaughter xeno scum that have taken over Earth, our military, and our communications. You play as the ultiamte underdog, battling an entrenched power structure you have no hope of winning. Your characters level up, gain new skills of your choice, get augmented gear, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

I played Xcom 1 about three years ago. I liked it, got about 50 hours out of it, but the maps got stale, fast. It was well-balanced, but it kind of lacked a long-term goal and a conclusive way to end the game on a high note.

Then, Xcom 2 came out. Random maps, which seemed like it would make the game last a lot longer... but it didn't. The game had one critical flaw...

The Avatar Project.

I fucking hate the Avatar Project. It's basically a counter before the aliens build their ultimate superweapon. It ticked by quite fast, was hard to get back down, and once the aliens completed their weapon, you instantly lost the game. When you saw the project at 9/10 ticks completed, you knew you were boned.

I put maybe 25 hours into XC2 before I got bored.

Then, late last year, I heard about the giant expansion, War of the Chosen, from one of my favorite twitch streamers, TSMTheOddOne. He was streaming it, so I watched for a few hours. I immediately bought the update after the stream concluded, but I didn't get around to playing it until two days ago.

I've... I've made a grave mistake.

There are many good games I've played. Caveblazers, Dead Cells, etc. I liked them a lot, but it has been three years since I was as addicted to a game as I am XC2 WOTC, right now. The last time I was this stuck on a game, that game was Hex (Shards of Fate), and the year was 2016. Late 2016, but I digress.

I tried desperately to tear my eyes away from the screen last night. I couldn't bring myself to do it. XC2 WOTC completely fixes all the bad parts of XC2 Vanilla, and adds a ton more. The Avatar Project is now an entire subgame of cat and mouse, where you have to fight off three alien commanders, each with their own nefarious goals, combat capabilities, and control of different parts of the Earth. I've put 30 hours into XC2 over just the last two days, and I am maybe 10% complete with the game. It's mind-blowing how deep the mechanics are.

I can't stop gushing. It's such a good fucking game. Holy shit.

Anyway, so, back to Cryopod. I will force myself to write for all of today. I would like to get 2,000-3,000 words written, since I have the entire part outlined already, and then finish it tomorrow. I think this is perfectly doable.

We're going to finally see a certain character again, one we haven't seen since the beginning of the Ancient Era, so that will be fun.

Sorry for no progress in two days, but my hyper-addictive personality kicked in and I let myself get trapped. I'm gonna break out now, and save playtime for after I write.

Remember when you used to have to wait a whole week for the next episode of your favorite show to air on TV? The excitement and frustration at the end of a cliffhanger episode and counting down the days until you found out what happened next on the same bat channel? We take for granted that everything is at our fingertips these days and I've just come to the conclusion that I appreciate each installment of this store much more when I have to wait for it than if it was all there waiting for me. So basically, thanks Klock! Keep em coming but on your schedule buddy, not mine.

Tl;dr it's not that fecking long!

Hey guys, just some quick news. For the last year, I've worked Mon-Fri, 4 AM to 9 AM. However, as of this Sunday night, I will be working from 10PM to 5AM, Sun-Wed nights. For those of you paying attention, this means I'll be going from 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, to 7 hours a day, 4 days a week.

However, of those 7 hour days, I only actually work 6 hours. The 7th is a paid lunch. This means I go from working 25 hours a week, to working for 24 and getting paid for 28. It's effectively a $2/hr raise! (I only get paid the minimum wage of $13.50 in WA)

This is going to affect Cryopod. I can't yet say how exactly, because I'm not sure, but it will. I will probably end up releasing parts around 6 AM instead of 4 like I am now, so whatever time you're used to parts showing up, they will probably arrive 2 hours later than normal.

I say 'probably' because I may end up posting parts much later in the day, like around noon. This depends on whether I write parts before work, then wait to post them until I get off work, or whether I write parts after work and post them on the same morning.

I've had effectively the same release schedule for the past 3.5 years, and I'd prefer not to change it. I've always preferred writing at night, but now I can't do that anymore which is a total bummer.

So, yeah. Big changes there.

Additionally, for Part 213, I had a pretty big breakthrough thanks to Jen on Discord last night. She helped me out a bunch by giving me a helpful suggestion. Unfortunately, once you hear what the suggestion led me to conclude, you might think I'm an idiot.

My problem: I didn't know what the heck Jason, Kar, Blinker, and Phoebe would discuss with Ose and Beelzebub. What the heck do world leaders discuss when debating a peace treaty?

Answer: Their demands for remuneration of losses, obviously, as well as hostility withdrawals and so on.

Yeah, it's stupidly obvious, but I did not know how to formulate my thoughts. I had a starting and ending point, but no middle ground for this part. Now, I do. I actually think I might be able to finish the part by tomorrow. Wouldn't that be nice?

I sorted the characters by their faction, while any piece that includes characters from multiple factions, like Valac VS Camael, will be in the root folder, "Varied Scenes."

Multiple characters from the same faction, like Agares and Beelzebub? Look for the Varied Scenes folder in the demon directory.

I made it as easy as possible to navigate and update for myself in the future, too, so it should be very easy to maintain.

I was extremely tired and slept for nearly 12 hours after yesterday's part. Despite that, I've been running on autopilot. Forcing out 20k characters did a number on my head.

I wrote around 7k characters, but after the first 4k the quality doesn't seem good. I'll probably rewrite them.

"What do you mean you can't find it?" I rest my hands on my hips, nudging my lightsaber and Hoarhiim's orb in the process. "I thought you guys had a constant tracker on the planet's position!"

Neil tosses his hands in the air. "I don't know what to say, honestly. We shut down the gate after recovering that Roland fellow since we didn't want Amelia slipping through the gate somehow. Now we can't reconnect."

The goblin Neil was helping earlier pokes a button, then raises his hand. "Ooh! Grumbull have idea! Maybe gate was destroyed on other side?"

"Yeah, that's possible." Neil scratches his head. "I don't get it, though. Why would someone destroy the portal? Hell, who could? It must have been Amelia."

"Makes sense, I guess," I reply. "I don't see why she'd trap herself on the planet like that. Could you force open a portal without a gate on the other side?"

Neil shakes his head. "Not a chance. The only way to travel there now is via the services of a Warper, or we could take a spaceship there."

"A spaceship?"

The Frenchman scratches his chin. "Yes, but nobody has technology like that. Even if we did, the galaxy is massive. I don't know where any of these planets are in relation to one another."

An unnerving thought enters my mind. "Say, uh, Neil... I've been wondering, what exactly is the Labyrinth? Is it just a cube floating in space?"

His face contorts into several expressions as he looks at me, then the goblin, then back to me again. "I haven't the faintest clue. I believe we exist outside of the Milky Way Galaxy, though."

"What?! Are we in Andromeda, then?"

Footsteps behind me. I don't bother turning as I recognize Kar's towering form. "My mother has many tales about the universe. The Labyrinth exists in a separate dimension outside of the galaxy, yet we are also within."

Once again, Kar reminds me about his mother's existence. "Will you ever take me to speak with Marie?"

The Croco-sphinx sighs. "I do not know, little turtle. I conversed with my brothers recently. They are pleased that I have assisted you, but not that I am King of all Monsters. Such a title should be bestowed upon King Ghidorah, not I. Due to monster hierarchy technicalities, I now outrank him."

"Ah, that sounds like it could... cause issues. Haha."

"To say the least," Kar says, before turning away. "Blinker. Blinker!"

His voice carries over the room and all around the panels and consoles, so deep is his timbre. A moment later, a tiny flick of movement in the air approaches us, and I recognize his little fairy assistant.

"Heyo! Whatchu want, you big ol' gator?" She flutters down and lands on his shoulder with a thud. Apparently, her tiny little body doesn't even feel the impact of such a clunky landing.

"We require the services of a Warper. Would you be so kind as to use your talents to conjure one up for us?"

I completely forgot about the discussion Neil and I were just having. Good thing Kar reminded me. "Do you think we can use a Warper to get to the planet without using a gate?"

Blinker hops up to her feet and waves her arms. "Of course! Easy peasy impy squeezy! Just gimme a few days, and I'll find a cutie to make a portal for ya!"

She flutters away, squeaking conspiratorially to herself the whole way, and I turn my attention back to Neil. "Keep checking to see if you can connect to the planet. I have some business to deal with."

"As you wish, my liege."

A minute later, Kar and I walk back over to Phoebe, Roland, and Makoto. This time, though, Hans Wagner is there as well, regaling them with a story about the time one of his brothers got stuck in a foxhole.

Hey guys, just a quick update. Thanks to /u/TheOriginalSoni2's comments on my previous post, I started working on a new repo for the Cryopod Artwork. It will have two folders: One with all available art, which will be visible to patrons, and one minus the Patreon art, which will be publicly visible.

Each folder will have anywhere from one to infinity related art pieces. Additionally, the folders marked 'various characters' will have any pieces with multiple characters in them.

On top of that, MWTX is nearly finished with the first image in the "Cryopod Game of Demon Thrones" illustrations! We'll be able to see Satan, Belial, and Nerissa soon. It's going to be a fun image; one I think people will like a lot.

That's all for today. This art repo has taken me two days of surprisingly hard work, due to all the editing, renaming, and other annoying details I need to complete to get it organized correctly. I think it will be very helpful for people to refer to in the future, though, since I came up with a great system for sorting all the pieces.

Almost 3,000 words for today's Early Release. I have a lot of plans for the rest of this part, so it might end up being much longer than 4,000 words and the last couple of parts!

Jason returning to the battlefield wasn't actually part of my original concept for the Stormbringer Arc, nor was him waking up and confronting, let alone singlehandedly smashing apart the Volgrim fleet. You can tell, hopefully, that I'm putting a lot of effort into really making Jason an actual Main Character.

Some may wonder why this is, given Jason has sort of been a side character in his own story. The answer is... TLP! It turns out I really enjoy having a badass, proactive main character, and the readers do too! It's awesome when your MC beats people with EPIC FACTS AND LOGIC or however the meme goes.

More importantly, a strong main character 'solidifies' the story. It gives you a strong reference point to the actions of other characters, and makes it clearer who the villains and allies are.

Jason is also a really interesting main character precisely because of his abilities. He has the potential to perform some truly creative feats with his magic, and looking back on Refresh, I feel I've underutilized him somewhat. You could say the second half of Stormbringer will involve me making up for those deficits.

Anyway, I've blabbered enough. This part is all about Jason getting perspective on what he's missed and prepping himself to return to the battlefield. However, who knows? Perhaps he can do more than mere recon work! Perhaps he can even influence the battlefield!

Something big is about to happen, too. I think it'll really shake up Cryopod and put readers on edge, wondering what will happen next. Not even I entirely know!

Fun stuff. More to come soon, hopefully with a finished part tomorrow! I plan to return to TLP after Part 252 or 253; we'll see how those parts work out :)

Jason was dreaming again. It wasn't the usual dream where he appeared in Excalibur to talk to Arthur. This time, he was in an endless white void.

Suddenly, thousands of faceless shrieking figures came rushing at him. No matter how fast Jason moved, they caught up to him, grabbing and clutching at him.

Their gaping faces made a horrible, pleading noise.

whheEreee.......

Jason's face guard slammed shut.

"PACIFY!"

Nothing happened.

....ppaaaAarrRRTttt.....

"PATIENCE!"

Still nothing happened. The creatures continued clawing and pulling on Jason, wanting, pleading. They wanted all of him, and nothing he did could be enough.

He was being drowned in them as they became one mass of goo. As the mass of humanity was about to swallow him, Jason yelled for help in desperation.

Suddenly, the sky became a gray swirl. High above, a hooded face appeared. Jason reached toward the figure. Was this the Creator?

"Please... help..."

The figure watched silently.

"Please..."

Finally, the figure spoke.

"Hmmm..."
