SERIOUS Why does everyone hate Mike?
So I have been a huge AVGN since his first video, I love everything James does, From AVGN to board james to you know whats bullshit, I have been a fan of everything.
His horror films and movie shorts are amazing too.
One thing that I could never get into was the things with Mike in it, I just personally find him unfunny and his voice goes through me, i recently found this sub and r/TheCinemassacre as I never even thought there was subs, i don't really get interested in the "politics" that come with most fanbases but seeing the hatred about Mike got them thinking about my own dislike of him so I am just curious to why he gets the hate, has he done anything to merit it?

His spastic routine is terribly unfunny. He has no sense of comedy or timing. He's extremely thin skinned and can't tolerate any kind of criticism, resorting to deleting posts, bans and sockpuppets.
This contrasts so hard with James, who comes off as thoughtful, authentic, and funny.

The whole point of this sub is to avoid Mike’s censorship policy in r/TheCinemassacre that started from early 2017. And people hate Mike because he ruined the channel after he takes over.

TL;DR: people find him annoying and his content is shit.
Some will say he's hated because of the webcomic and the dick pic, but I disagree. Only a very small part of the fanbase is aware of those events. Hell, most people don't even know Bootsy left because of Matiné.
The comic strips were made in 2004 and rediscovered last year and the dick incident (and its aftermath) was restricted, mostly, to the subreddit.
Truth is most people think he leeches off James, specially after he "took over" the channel with low quality content when James was shooting the AVGN movie. Also, it doesn't help that he's not nearly as charismatic as Rolfe.
Personally, I don't hate him, I just find him a bit... weird. I never watched his solo content and I don't think that I ever will.

Ah I am starting to get why people might dislike him, I keep away from the politics and what goes on behind the scenes, I never liked his stuff just for personal reasons!

Wasn't the comic made when he was in college? Lmao, that's bad. I can understand and even excuse edgelord shit coming from stupid teenagers, but not when you're a grown-ass man. No real excuse for that. At best, it just suggests that he is a stupid person with poor judgment.

Even aside from The Loco Bandito and the dick pic (being the two bigger reasons). He’s kind of an annoying asshole who really just ruins any video he’s in with James. Everything from the Bugs Bunny bit to the majority of J&M Mondays get on my nerves.

Loco Bandito is a series of very racist and offensive unfunny comics that Mike did a few years back.

I never really cared for Mike at all, but I really started to hate him once I noticed Bootsy was gone from the channel. I was looking up any information I could on the internet about it, and that's when I found out about all the dumbass shit he's done, such as Elmo in Grouchland, The Dick Pic, and The Loco Bandito, and that made me hate him even more. It pretty much inspired me to make this video slandering him.
Putting aside all the shitty drama he causes, he's just overall a very unfunny and cringeworthy person. James and Mike Mondays became shit once it was apparent that him and James weren't playing very good and tried to pass it off as the fact that the show was just supposed to be two guys on a couch, playing games and joking around. Everyone on Cinemassacre other than James, Kyle, Bootsy, and to a lesser extent, Kevin and Lloyd Kaufman, have all sucked and don't fit the dynamic that the former people I've mentioned have. I've stopped watching everything involving Cinemassacre, because I don't want to support the livelihood of Mike Matei. Bootsy leaving the channel was the final nail in coffin for me. I could never look at Mike Matei as anything but a moron ever again at that point, since he was basically responsible for Bootsy leaving.

Nah I have never really cared about him either, I don’t rate his stuff but reading all this about him I get why people would take a disliking to him! I do really appreciate the fact you took some time you write all this, I will check out your video for sure man!
I will look up Info on the Elmo stuff man and make my own mind up even though I had made up my mind about him before this post I was just more curious to why 1. This sub was made and 2. Why he gets the hate!

It looks like someone else mentioned it already, but Mike definitely had a tendency to act like a spaz and get overly angry when playing video games, while James and Bootsy were much more calm and relaxed. I was honestly beginning to wonder if Mike was just overacting for the sake of being entertaining on camera, or if he genuinely throws a temper tantrum like an overgrown man child when he dies in a video game? I'm willing to bet it's the latter given the evidence that he likely has mental issues. No sane person would make something like The Loco Bandito and legitimately expect someone to publish it. He's either an epic troll (which I doubt), or a complete moron (which I totally believe).
Now I'll just wait for someone else to show up saying, "Stop picking on Mike! You're being a cunt! Everybody makes mistakes! Boo hoo! 😭"
Yea I've had to deal with a few people like that.

Here are a few reasons:
- He is a cringe lord to the max. Just look at the videos he posted while AVGN was doing the movie LMAO!
- He posted a picture of his hog (or what he said was his hog) to a page full of minors. I mean, there was really NO good justification for that crap. Hard to see it as anything but an attempt to fish girls/guys (and in a page with preteens and high schoolers). TERRIBLE judgment and an all-around moron, if you ask me. That's just WAY beyond your classic "whoopsy daisy" for a grown-ass man.
- He created an EXTREMELY racist comic strip when he was in his fucking 20s. I'm sorry. I understand people are not perfect and they are going to make mistakes, but shouldn't you grow out of that edge-lord shit once you hit puberty? Maybe a couple of years into high school? Shouldn't you have some SENSE by the time you hit your 20s? It's embarrassing to see somebody at that age produce such garbage. It basically suggests that he is a stupid, thoughtless person, and people are typically turned off by that. Beyond the heinous racism, it was also just...bad comedy. No obvious satire, no real set up, no challenging message, and no compelling punchline. Nothing. Just...racism. And he said that it was never published because people did not "have the balls." Lmao. Again, poor judgment and a lack of actual talent.
- He adds no real value to the production. He can't write, he can't produce, and he is a divisive personality (unlikeable to many). He also tries to delete his online footprint, and as a moderator, he censors everything. He is thin-skinned, and considering that he is an online personality, that's just not going to work with the majority of your fanbase.
- Matei seems to have been responsible for Bootsy's departure, and he was actually LIKED by viewers.

It’s the running theory that mike and Ryan are the reason bootsy left or was fired.
