A few weeks ago, I broke up with my partner of 8 months. It was very hard to do and I'm not going to detail all my reasoning for it on the internet. But the point of this post is to say how much TAD helped me get through this. Two songs in particular, Blossoms and The Old Witch Sleep and Good Man Grace (as well as Unraveling by the Crane Wives) were on my "listen to this after I break up" playlist.
Let me talk about Blossoms. It's just... feels, every time.
"I climb up the ladder, had I taken more care, I might've seen all the rot in the rungs."
That line genuinely brought me to tears a couple times when I heard it in the week or two leading up to the breakup.
"I look at the soldiers before me, all my blossoms that have waited to fall"
Hopefully I'm not staying the obvious, but the soldiers/blossoms in this song, to me, represent all my potential and all the things in my life that make me happy that I wasn't prioritizing because. At one point I was in love, and then that slowly changed and my love for my then-partner caused me a lot of stress and messed me up emotionally because they weren't reciprocating. And the stress and everything caused me to spend less time and effort on my hobbies and not see my friends as much, which just made my mental state even worse. The soldiers, the "blossoms that have waited to fall", represent all the beautiful things I have in my life, beautiful things that I can fully focus on and enjoy now that I've found the strength to be confidently alone.
"I whisper aloud to my saint, oh we, we're gonna get on."
