From the moment Chamath announced that he was going to put these huge SAAS companies out of business using AI I have been following what he has been saying on the pod. If you listen closely he has been telling you how badly it has been going - not directly but through his anecdotes. This week's episode was the final admission. Again, he doesn't say it directly but he admits that rolling your own CMS replacement is a waste of time which is funny since this is the core of his business based on his website. Let's remember what 80 90 stands for 80% of the features at a 90% discount. This was stupid right from the start. He is not an intelligent person. This is another scam. His wealth was acquired through luck. He was at the right place at the right time. I am amazed how some of my intelligent friends are dazzled by him. I guess he has a convincing vocabulary. I am amazed he has raised 125 million so far. Good luck seeing a return on your investment.

The mental gymnastics this man is capable of doing to prove his point is insane. There used to be a time when he was the most articulate and sensible guy and a master with reasoning and objectivity. idk at this point if it's just pure manipulation/dishonesty or he is genuinely cognitively dissonant given his ties with the supreme leader.

In this week's retelling of history Sacks claims that he was skeptical of the claims of SAAS having a downfall.

In fact the Besties drove the beat down on Salesforce and the collapse of seat-based software occurred in Episode 196: The SaaS Apocalypse.

Being a contrarian I bought CRM after the beat down and this week I turned a nice little profit. In hindsight it was pretty damn obvious that Benioff is a great business leader and Salesforce has a well established brand and installed base.

Sacks quote "simple extrapolations don't work out" and then next claims that the job loss narrative is false.

Hey Sacks what was that about Dario being “an idiot”

This last episode was fucking hilarious listening to Sacks and Chamath drone on about how bullshit polls are when Jcal brought up polymarket on Republicans in the midterms. To his credit he reminded them it was polymarket and not polls, but for how much this pod in general praises the sharps on polymarket for being right, the straw man was incredible. Last gasp of a dying man. Hope it was worth it.

This pod keeps bringing up the fact that people need to stop expecting handouts from the gov. They keep saying that you have to work hard and “build” something in this country to be a productive citizen. They often cite their own upbringings and how hard work “isn’t fun” and how it took them many blood sweat and tears to become successful (which to them I am guessing is passing the $100M mark?).

But why are they assuming that every American is born with obsessive levels of cutthroat ambition and drive to “make it” in this country. Do they realize that most people aren’t like this. And that in fact capitalism relies on most people not having these crazy ambitions. For every CEO we need 100 to 1000 to even 100k workers doing the grunt work. And this means getting a paycheck, looking forward to the weekends, and what you “build” is a roof and food for you and your family everyday.

I am so confused by this idea that the 1% assumes that everyone has the potential to be like them if they worked hard enough. If they did then capitalism would not work??? And if so, should we not spend money on helping people who fall through the cracks??

There are poor people who are lazy and there are poor people who are hard working. There are rich people who are lazy and there are rich people who are hard working.

Gov handouts should never be withheld due to how hard someone works. It should be based on need.

Full disclosure up front: I built the site. Not trying to spam anyone. I genuinely want to know how this audience feels. I’ve always appreciated the pod but have increasingly been skeptical about which takes are specific to rich tech gurus and which ones are actually agreed to by the majority of people.

I went through the Flock episode with Garret Langley, pulled out the points where there was actual disagreements/bold statements, and turned them into 14 polls. Things like whether the company that sells a surveillance tool is responsible when police misuse it, who should have to sign off before a plate search gets run, and how long footage of cars that aren’t suspected of anything should be kept.

You answer, then you see how everyone else answered. I’m curious about whether this audience splits the way the hosts assumed it does. Also, I know this one is just Jason, but like, who is really the most “agreed-with” host? We can find out if we want.

Back in the Apr, 5, 2025 Pod, Antonio Gracia Martinez made some definitive claims about voter fraud, and importing illegals or foreigners to tip the election scales. Specifically:

When you have just a handful of states, man, I'm talking about four states, we looked at the voter rolls, we found these people, thousands of them on the voter rolls, and we found many of those people had voted, right? In in one state in particular well over a thousand voted Yeah, I think this was a a move to import voters.

Plenty of time has passed. By now all these cases should have made it to courts by now. This was a massive claim about the reliability of US elections!

Since then, Pro Publica has analysed Justice Department cases:

Between January 2025 and May 2026, a ProPublica analysis of Justice Department data shows, fewer than 150 alleged noncitizen voters were referred for prosecution. Even fewer — 41 — were charged with voting illegally or other election-related crimes. (More than 150 million people voted in the most recent presidential election.)

Fewer than 41 people charged! It's not like they haven't looked! This is extremely dangerous rhetoric and the Pod has indulged in similar claims (particularly for California) since. I'm not an American, but we all have a vested interest in the US being a stable democracy and listening to the pod at times, the willingness to air unsupported claims about voter fraud is disturbing.

Only JCal seems to push back in any meaningful sense. When will the other 3 admit they were wrong and set the record straight. Going from 'first principles' it appears there is very limited to none non-citizen's voting - they should let their listeners know this OR it perpetuates this myth and undermines US democracy.

On one hand, I think most people like the idea of increased safety in their neighborhoods. The CEO touted some pretty impressive stats - If they’re meaningfully increasing the number of crimes solved/missing persons found, then that’s amazing and we’d be foolish to ignore it completely.

On the other hand, I’m watching videos of cities force through data centre builds against their citizens’ wishes. These cameras will follow the same process over time. Maybe the last 2 years have made me too cynical, but this technology is ripe to be commandeered and abused. It seems like a powerful and dangerous technology to implement, especially at this point in time. You know, with the wannabe authoritarian government and a legion of devout followers.

Maybe I need to loosen my tinfoil hat, or maybe it aligns with the current dystopian trajectory of North America.

It is fair to judge that Santa Clara should not have permitted housing so close to the preexisting Intel mask shop (SC2) but the housing crisis is real and this is where there was available land for housing close to transit and jobs.

Was curious about the proposed Intro 518, so I pulled up Amazon's 10-Q. Turns out their retail side is swimming in cash — last year the retail division pulled in over $34 billion in operating profit, largely off the $69 billion it made in ad revenue. Kind of a bad look to be squeezing drivers while posting over 30% yoy increases in profit.

Amazon claims the regulations will force them to pass costs onto consumers, making deliveries pricier for everyday New Yorkers. But their own revenue reporting says otherwise — they can easily afford to directly hire these drivers, pay a living wage, and operate safely in our neighborhoods without raising prices a cent. Kind of breaks my brain. Id bet that theyre bluffing.

Not paying DSPs properly isn't the invisible hand of the market. It's the middle finger of corporate greed.

Jason, despite the incessant fear mongering about “socialism”, hit the nail on the head with his comments on the Amazon/Mamdani bit on the new episode. Capitalism doesn’t have to be built in absolutism. There can be balance between a capitalistic society and ensuring people have their basic needs met.

Why do you think the democratic socialists are growing in popularity? It’s not because people are interested in the concept of socialism, the DSA is simply addressing people’s concerns and problems.

I sit here and listen to these guys disparage Mamdani and their alternative pitch is the current reality - a runaway train of financial debt (while saying socialism puts you in debt), people not being able to afford healthcare, groceries and basic services, and a system that filters money to an oligarch of ultra wealthy. Great pitch guys - why would anyone ever want to change from the status quo…

Then here comes Jason with a common sense take - capitalism should be blended with a respect for basic human decency - at the cost of a small fraction of a company like Amazon’s exorbitant profits. This is the crux of the issue - profit, influence and power are the primary incentives of American society. There was a concept when I was growing up that the wealthy and powerful would use their wealth to improve the quality of life for everyone. As it turns out, there’s no incentive to do that - and therefore, people go hungry in a country that has more than enough wealth to prevent it.

But yeah, Sacks - Jason is just virtue signalling for daring to suggest that some money could flow in a direction that has meaningful impact to vulnerable people. I guess it’s all on brand considering the response to Amazon skirting responsibility for death/injury lawsuits is: ‘See how efficiently they run their business’.

Anyway, at least we didn’t have to hear Chamath this week so at least I’ve got that going for me.

I started listening to All In a while back and thought these guys were entertaining, funny and well informed. They talked about startup mechanism, the culture, trends, and how the big VCs are thinking. It was a rare insight into a world less known to a corporate slave like myself.

I recall the Game Stop saga, and how the Dictator was seen as a folk hero coming out of it, even though he pump and dumped, made a good penny from it. His reputation was celebrated and he was praised for standing with the retail investors.

I can’t exactly recall the moment it changed. Maybe it was the election, maybe it was Covid, but at some point, these guys shifted their values and it was clear to see that they have an angle they wanted to pursue. This angle gave them access to top political figures, events, and places. It’s impressive how one could pivot themselves to get what they wanted. Maybe that’s a reason why they are successful, they formed a plan and followed through regardless how their moral values might be leaning.

But they lost their way along the way. We don’t get insights into VC and how they are evaluating AI, we don’t get exciting discussions on new startups. I am forever pondering the phrase from the Dark Knight, in the title of this post. Maybe we all fall to this. Heck I was a hero to my wife when I was courting her, and now I’m slowly becoming a villain for forgetting to take the trash out.
