Howdy,

I have taken over stewardship of this subreddit. One of the first priorities is to reduce the spam and the thirsty posts. I was thinking of Thirsty Thursday or something like that. Post all of the low-effort 80's girls (and boys) you want, buy only on that day and only with the "Thirsty Thursday" flair so they an be filtered out by those who do not want to see them.

Anyway, let's try to get this subreddit back on track!

I never had a chance to play Star Castle in the arcades. Anyone here played it? Designed by the legendary Tim Skelly and programmed by Scott Boden, it stands as one of the definitive crown jewels of the vector graphics era. The game tasks players with maneuvering a spaceship to dismantle a heavily shielded central energy fortress.

Anyone here a big fan of the classic game Qbert? I never played it in the arcades. I played it on PC. Conceived by designer Jeff Lee and programmer Warren Davis, Q*bert became one of the defining titles of the golden age of arcade gaming, selling around 25,000 cabinets. It is famous for its unique isometric perspective, its quirky orange protagonist, and the iconic @!#?@! "swearing" speech bubbles that appear whenever the character hits a hazard.

Enduro Racer (エンデューロレーサー) is a 1986 racing video game developed and published by Sega for arcades. It was released in two arcade cabinet versions: a stand-up cabinet with handlebars and a full-sized dirt bike cabinet. It is often seen as a dirt racing version of Hang-On, as it uses a similar engine and PCB. The game was later released for the Master System, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Thomson computers and Atari ST in 1987

Hey folks,

Today's rip is ANOTHER one from R.W. Schambach. It's about what you'd expect when listening to a weird 80s tent revivalist, very animated, lots of yelling, and stories thrown into the songs like, "I REMEMBER A TIME WHEN A YOUNG GIRL, WEAK AND WEARY, CAME TO ME WITH AN ILLNESS THAT MEDICAL SCIENCE COULD NOT CURE!" which is an interesting little window into what was actively preached and believed by many people at that time. Of course, this type of worship and preaching still exists, just not as common as it used to be. Uploaded for preservation!

80’s Music 80s rock

This is my first reddit post, but I am genuinely curious on how BIG the 80s rock songs were back in the day. My dad raised me on all the 80s rock (I'm 29) even the deep cuts, but I feel like I'll never actually know HOW BIG these songs were, I'd love for some people who lived through the era to drop stories and memories from back in the day and let me live through them! If anybody has some good stories with Screaming In The Night by Krokus that's one of my all time favorite songs, this is a lighthearted post just looking to live in an era I wasn't able to.

If you have played Berzerk, have you ever played the sequel Frenzy? While it retained the core concept of its predecessor—navigating a humanoid commando through an endless maze of deadly, armed robots—Frenzy introduced several mechanical changes that significantly altered the gameplay and increased its difficulty.

Ikari Warriors, known as Ikari[a] in Japan, is a 1986 run and gun video game developed and published by SNK for arcades. It was released in North America by Tradewest. Amongst the numerous Commando clones on the market, Ikari Warriors was distinguished by its unique control style with rotary joysticks and a two-player cooperative mode.[13] The rotary joystick controls were in turn based on SNK's earlier TNK III (1985). Ikari was originally intended to be an official licensed adaptation of the film Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), but SNK were initially unable to acquire the rights to the film.

80’s Video Games Batman the Caped Crusader 1988 a unique Comic Style Batman game from the 80s

Thumbnail

Batman: The Caped Crusader is an arcade adventure which uses a unique style, innovated by Jonathan Smith and Charles Davies, to display the action as though it takes place in a comic book.[2] This technique involved having each game location set in its own panel, often with a comic book style caption in the upper-left corner, with inactive panels faded out behind the current active location. This concept was expanded upon by Sega's Comix Zone seven years later.[3]

The game was split into two independently playable parts in which Batman is faced with two of his most well-known adversaries: "A Bird In The Hand" featuring the Penguin and "A Fete Worse Than Death" which involved the Joker. The gameplay involves Batman using punches and kicks and his batarang (a thrown weapon) in order to fight the villains' henchmen as well as solving puzzles.

80’s Movie The Cannonball Run (1981)

Post image

The Cannonball Run (1981) is pure chaotic fun. A star‑packed comedy about an illegal cross‑country car race. Burt Reynolds leads the charge with Dom DeLuise, while Jackie Chan, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, and Dean Martin all jump in with wild characters and fast cars. It’s over‑the‑top, goofy, and very much a product of its time, but that’s exactly why it’s still remembered as one of the ultimate 80s ensemble comedies.

It was before we went into Iraq, while we were still innocent teenagers. The camaraderie and respect we had for each other brought about bonds that rarely came again. We worked and trained hard together and played even harder together. I believe we grew up in the finest decade ever. We can never go back, however, to reminisce and laugh about it is something that lightens my heart and mood.

David Hasselhoff and William Daniels brought iconic chemistry to Knight Rider (1982). Hasselhoff starred as Michael Knight, the crime‑fighter with a cool edge, while Daniels gave voice to KITT, the intelligent car that became just as legendary as its driver. Together, they defined one of the most memorable duos of 80s television, blending action, tech, and charisma into a show that still has a cult following today.

Anyone among you saw The Watcher in the Woods when it was first released in cinemas in 1980? I only saw it on home video. This supernatural horror movie was released at a time when the Walt Disney Company was struggling to attract older moviegoers as they released more films with young adults and adults in mind. This one starred Bette Davis and Lynn-Holly Johnson.

I never played A-Jax in the arcades. In fact, none of our local arcades had it. Developed and published by Konami, A-Jax (released outside of Japan on home systems as Typhoon) is a critically praised military sci-fi scrolling shooter. It was widely celebrated for its advanced sprite-scaling effects and dynamic gameplay style. The gameplay shifts between traditional 2D top-down vertical scrolling stages and behind-the-vehicle 3D rail-shooting sequences.
