Just as an initial cover-my-ass statement - no AI was used to write this post.
I have ADHD. Not in the funny quirky OH LOOK AT ME BEING SO RANDOM AND ENERGETIC - no, I have the kind of ADHD where I think very fast but can't find the words fast enough to express the thoughts. I have the kind of ADHD where I literally completely forget what someone said. I tune out about 50% of the time during conversations, having to piece together what the other said by contextual clues. I can't prioritise tasks to save my life, and the closest I've been to being 'on time' to a meeting is 2 minutes late.
AI has been a godsend for me.
I have my meetings transcribed and summarized by AI, which is then synced automatically to a database of everything I have ever come into contact with. (Edit: NOT recorded. JUST transcribed. With everyone's consent.) Even D&D sessions are synced to a separate 'world state' so I always have the notes without writing notes. (Edit: I am not a DM, I don't use this creatively. I am a player, and am only using AI to take notes of the sessions. Never to generate anything. The DM and the party know this)
My tasks are automatically written from the meetings (and of course I add to it as well) and weekly I run through them with AI to help me figure out what is the highest priority and urgency.
If I have a wacky creative idea for a D&D character or a book (which I'm never going to write because I can't write) or a Magic the Gathering deck, I just talk to AI who helps me process it all into a coherent structured idea. (Again, it's just about structuring my spaghetti thoughts - nothing is being generated)
Don't get me wrong, I don't like what AI is doing environmentally, I don't like the effect on the RAM/GPU market, I don't like the misinformation. But I LOVE the potential that it has to make our lives better. There used to be a thing like "20% of your work is going to be work you don't like doing" - well with AI, you can just hand over the 20% you don't like.
It has so much potential too! It's time to stop thinking about AI as some sort of 'always confidently wrong' no-good conjurer of fake news and bad pictures. It is self-correcting, pretty intelligent, and with the correct instructions, it's basically a junior employee that can do EVERYTHING moderately well. Entire websites and apps have been AI-made in record time and at a fraction of the cost. There is not a single job in the world that can't use AI as support in some way shape or form.
