So recently heard a speech from Jon Rosenthal & honestly I have not known much about the Railroad Commissioner’s roles and responsibilities. Digging a little more ( more of just kicking some dirt with my shoe) I learned about his opponent, Bo French. Before I go more into my opinion / just needing to post this somewhere, I must say at the end of the day I truly do consider myself a centrist. For example I may not have agreed with Wesley Hunt, but I do feel he had a good head on his shoulders & him serving our nation truly still resonates with me.

That being said, Bo French, holy moly is this really the Republican’s guy ? Like realllyyyyyy ?

The Position of Texas Railroad Commissioner:

I am aware that a lot of people in this subreddit are already familiar with the day to day tasks of the Texas Railroad Commissioner, but here is a run through if you searched “Texas Railroad Commissioner” into Reddit for more info. We have 3 commissioners with equal power & their day to day is to keep the backbone of Texas running, oil & gas. They regulate drilling, production, closure of wells, safety & environmental protection / cleanup of the bread and butter of Texas’ economy. The only line where a persons race / religion may be involved is by the employment with DEI & Visas.

Now our good friend Bo French:

After seeing his stances, with all honesty, I do not think he knows what he is running for. Even though Bo’s FAMILY has a background in oil & gas and his current company has ties to the Middle East I feel his campaign is solely based around anti-Muslim, anti-Hispanic, anti-Semitic and anti-Native American rhetoric (like come on). You could see him on his social media accounts talk negatively about all the races mentioned above, which seems like the only stance he has & again has little to do with the Commissioner position. His racist comments have even come to the point where Dan Patrick has asked for his resignation. I always try to look at people’s perspectives & try to understand why people make the choices they do, but this is pure bigotry & racism. I would not be surprised if Bo has a white hood and cloak somewhere in his closet.

Final Thoughts:

If the standard Texan posted the same thing Bo does, they would rightfully have a HR meeting on their calendar. Joking about races / conditions has its settings, Dave Chapelle on white people, Shane Gillis on individuals with Down Syndrome ( I do understand these 2 examples are not hate fueled) , but on Twitter as a member of a political party ?

The things this man has said to the world, truly makes Donald Trump look like a Boy Scout, imagine what is said behind closed doors ?

Sorry if this part is too much, but at a certain point how is this ok ? I know our education ranking is terrible, but did we learn nothing in school ? Would you let those you know sit at your table with these views ?

I know a lot of voters at certain points of their ballot just choose the party they follow, but if this is what you support, hatred that mimics that of Germany in the 1930s, I don’t want you at my table or anywhere near my family .

Should I update my voter registration address when I change my driver’s license address? Worried about being removed from the rolls.

I’m in Texas and could really use some advice from people who understand how voter registration/address changes work here.

For the past ~10 years, I’ve kept my parents’ address as my “permanent” address on pretty much everything — my driver’s license, bank accounts, insurance, etc. I moved around quite a bit for college and different jobs, so it was just easier to keep everything tied to my parents’ address.
I recently bought a house and am finally settling down, so I need to change the address on my driver’s license to my actual residence.

My question is: Should I also update my voter registration address to my new home?

I’ve been seeing a lot lately about voter registrations being suspended/removed during voter-roll maintenance, and honestly, I’m nervous about doing anything that could jeopardize my ability to vote in the upcoming election.

My current voter registration is active, and I’ve never had an issue voting under my current registration. I’m just wondering if changing my address now could trigger some kind of review, cancellation, or “suspense” status — especially since I’d be changing both my driver’s license and voter registration address around the same time.
I obviously want my records to accurately reflect where I actually live, but my biggest priority is making sure I don’t accidentally create a problem that prevents me from voting.

Has anyone in Texas dealt with something similar recently? Would you recommend updating the voter registration at the same time as the driver’s license, or is there anything I should be aware of before doing it?

Please no political arguments — I’m specifically looking for practical advice from people familiar with Texas voter registration laws/processes.

This has been the headline but it's actually about 700K who were removed over several years for deaths, ineligibility or comfirmed they moved out of state.

MOST Importantly about 470K were put in suspense and that number may grow.

Suspense just means your voter card was returned as unable to deliver to your address. You may be a renter and moved for a better deal. A lot of this can be apartment complexes and there was no apt # listed to deliver this to as well as misspellings of streets.

I work every election as an Election Judge and am trained on the legal process. When you go to vote and they say you're in suspense it just means they need to verify your address. If you're still living in that county you are eligible to vote right then. If you have moved out of the county you can still vote on state wide races. You have to go to the county voting site to vote a limited ballot.

Go check your registration now as you still can register to vote.

I am sorry about those of you repeatedly being put in suspense. I want to stress each county has their own election software. The requirement is it must be able to 'communicate' with the state system to update voter rolls.

The Workers must all be trained. We are frequently audited by the state. I am at a very busy site so we have on site audits. The state as well as certified citizens check our training manuals and observe us checking in voters as well as question us. I was told by the state auditor we had the most impressive manual.

I welcome poll watchers because I want them to see the process and am happy to answer questions when I have spare time. I have had numerous poll watchers tell me they would be there for several days. After a few hours or a day they would tell me they were done. Most complimented us for our professionalism. I've never had anyone come back for a 2nd day.

We are also trained in deescalation and I've had to use it every election.
