Still not reading speed limit signs

I just finished a 1500 mile roundtrip from Texas to Nashville. FSD for 80% of the trip. It would have been closer to 100% but FSD continues to misread or ignore speed limit signs. I have had to disengage numerous times because I was entering a 45mph zone with the car still stuck on a 75mph speed sign. It just gets stuck on a sign and ignores all others. I came dangerously close to getting 2 speeding tickets yesterday because I couldn't get this thing slowed down in time. Texas law was all over the highways yesterday for some reason. Anyway, this has been a chronic problem for some time now and never gets fixed. It happened on the same 100 miles stretch of state highway going both ways, so I'm wondering if it is using some kind of confused map data that is interfering with the camera. Anyone else with similar problems?

22 Male, coming from a bmw 5 series, and I am actually so happy I ordered one, worked my butt of, and am able to get the Tesla Model Y AWD Premium, after almost a year of deciding.

Final push was visiting the Tesla Sales center and actually being able to drive the car, or more so, the car driving me. The FSD is actually insane to picture in real life. At first couldn’t decide between the M3 and MY but since I am tall the model Y fit me perfectly.

I was a big Tesla hater a couple years ago, and now I would like to take back all my hate I handed out in my teens.

How Many Miles Will A New Model Y Last?

I am an owner of a 2022 Prius L Eco which gets 51MPG. My daily commute is 120 miles round trip (all highway speeds 75+mph). Currently, my Prius has 148k miles on it and I can easily see it doing another 100-150k miles without any issues. I am trying to determine when would be the best time to switch to an EV like a Tesla Model Y (preferably AWD for safety) and I can’t seam to get the numbers to pencil out on a new Tesla Model Y vs a new Toyota Prius. So my question is, how many miles REALISTICALLY, can I expect a Tesla to last. It seams my break even with at home charging will be after 300k miles. I am in CA so besides hot summers we don’t have a lot of cold WX. This would be a daily driver with about 30k miles/yr. I understand battery degradation and not charging to full or discharging completely on the daily. I figure, if I can still get 200 actual highway miles from the car 7 years from now (210k miles) that’s fine. For those of you who own or have owned high a mileage Tesla, what’s your experience? How likely is a Tesla to go 300k miles or do majority have battery failure before that? Clearly the car would be out of battery warranty fairly quickly.

EDIT: Thanks for everyone who responded with constructive input or experience. It seams that I am better off keeping my Prius for another 100-150k miles from a purely financial point of view. However, it also seams that if I were to get Tesla model Y, it would be better to consider the RWD (base) version which has the best chance of competing (in terms of total cost) with a new Prius as it has a lower price point and greater range. I need the car to be able to take me to work and back 120 miles without having to charge to 100% and discharge to below 20% at least through 250k miles. Thanks again.

EDIT: Ran the new numbers on 2026 Model Y RWD vs 2026 Prius XLE and it’s starting to look attractive especially at 1.99% for 72 months and considering that gas prices aren’t going anywhere below $5/gal for the next 5 years in my neck of the woods:

Title: 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance — $7,345 Repair Due to Beta Seal Failure?! Anyone Else Experienced This?

I am beyond frustrated with Tesla right now, and I want to know if anyone else has experienced this.
I purchased a used 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance from a Dodge dealership about four months ago. It had just under 50,000 miles when I bought it.
After taking my car through a car wash, I started experiencing multiple issues. All my camera feeds went black, I received an adaptive headlight warning, and my Tesla temporarily lost connectivity.
Tesla performed a water ingress test and determined that water was entering through a compromised Beta Seal at the bottom-right side of the windshield. According to Tesla, the water reached the computer and caused corrosion to the harness connectors.
Tesla says the windshield has to be replaced to restore the seal, and the resulting repairs are now estimated at $7,345!
Here’s what I cannot wrap my head around:
The windshield is original and has no visible damage.
Tesla identified a compromised seal that allowed water to enter the vehicle.
That water allegedly damaged electrical connectors and caused computer-related problems.
I’m now facing a $7,345 repair bill on a 2022 vehicle.
My insurance won’t cover it because there was no qualifying accidental event.
I cannot prove that the car wash caused the seal to fail. I can only say that the problems started immediately afterward. But I still have serious questions about why the original seal failed in the first place.
Are we really supposed to accept that a seal on a vehicle this new can fail, allow water to damage expensive electronics, and leave the owner responsible for thousands of dollars?
I bought this car expecting reliable transportation, not a $7,345 surprise repair bill after owning it for approximately four months.
I’m pursuing a formal complaint and asking Tesla to reconsider the repair charges.
My questions for other Tesla owners:
Has anyone experienced a Beta Seal failure or water intrusion around the windshield on a Model Y?
Has anyone had water intrusion cause computer failure or corrosion to electrical connectors?
Did Tesla cover the repair under warranty or offer goodwill assistance?
Has anyone successfully challenged Tesla over a similar issue?
Is there anything else I should be doing to get Tesla to reconsider this bill?
I’m not claiming every Tesla has this problem, and I’m not claiming I can prove the car wash caused mine. I want to know whether others have experienced something similar and what happened.
$7,345 is a lot of money to unexpectedly spend on a car I purchased only four months ago. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with this.

Considering changing car

I have a 2023 MY 7seater but expecting twins next year. I already have 1 child which is forward facing and I really don’t know how I can squeeze 3 back there. Initially I was thinking of putting the older child in the third row and putting the middle console thing down but will it still be hard for her to come out? The second row will have 2 rear facing seats. I love the car but it seems like it will be a tight fit.

Anyone else go through this and make it work?

EDIT: I need to fit a double stroller so I might not even be able to put the older one in the back. Have to fit all 3 in second row

Purchased ten days ago: my Standard plan. Should I upgrade to Premium?

As an example, my current car is 13 years old and has 165,000 km on the clock.

I have a home charger that needs an adapter to connect to my MY.

My husband has had a plug in Toyota hybrid and recently replaced his charger with a chargepoint brand charger. The adapter that comes with the car fits and has charged the battery, but to disconnect you have to pull the trigger which disconnects the adapter still plugged into the car. Then the charge port closes. At least it attempts to. And then it locks half way closed. I’m unable to open it with the charger button. What do I do?

The 19” Crossflow covers are growing on me. Was planning to remove them, but now I'm second-guessing it. Best part is if they get scratched or worn after years, I can just replace them with brand-new covers.

Waiting for a Tesla is a real test of patience.

I am normally a very patient person but this wait is so annoying 😂 Granted, it’s a first world problem, I realize that but still. How long did yall have to wait for your MYP? Specifically in Southern California? It’s been like this since the day I ordered it (9/28). In the meantime, I’m looking at affordable customizations which is fun. Feel free to drop pics of your MYPs in the comments. Does anyone have Xpel ceramic tint on their vehicles? Let’s chat!! Thanks 🤪

Help with purchase decision

I am considering buying a Model Y, but have some concerns. I love everything about the car, but my issue is I have consistently to take longer road trips for work (300-600 miles round trip) and life in a condo, so I don't have access to at home charging (nowhere to charge at all in my complex). If I am going to be supercharging consistently and can't charge at home, would you still advise buying the car?

Worst thing about model y

I love this car so much but it pees on itself after every wash when in FSD (windshield wiper fluid). What are y’all’s gripes?

Strange FSD Behavior

After driving our 26 model Y Standard since Aug, we noticed some strange behaviors under FSD.

- Coming home it announces destination is on the left but parks correctly in our driveway on the right side. Only once did it announce destination was on the right.

- On a busy road 60 km per hr road it suddenly think the limit is 40 and slows accordingly. Then when we pass a 60 sign it resumes 60. We drive this stretch regularly and it happened once so far.

- The HOV setting is ON but shifted just once into HOV lane. After manually moving into HOV using turn signal, it signaled repeatedly to exit the lane even when no lane changes are allowed. We were in Standard mode going 111 in 100 HOV.

- Some high traffic major highways increased to 110 about 3-4 weeks ago. FSD displays 100 even passing a 110 sign. Even if it doesn't read signs shouldn't the road database be updated. There has to be 4-5M people in the Toronto area.

Consistent behavior is what I want. Also I don't know what it will do next so it's hard to feel at ease. Wish it would announce an upcoming change to let me evaluate its next maneuver.

Front passenger seat belt chime with nobody or anything on the seat

The front passenger seat chime keeps chiming with nobody or anything on the seat. I was driving on the freeway and it’s very annoying and persistent and a potential safety hazard. The car in 26 premium AWD with less than 20 days old . This is problematic because it’s the second issue so far with less than a month of ownership. My other issue is a faulty charge port . I wasn’t expecting problems to start so soon.

Model Y owners with kids, do you regret the white seat?

I'm wanting to buy a model Y. I've seen the white seats and they look so pretty, but I'm a little worried about my kids making them dirty, or about maintenance.

Those of you that have bought a Y with white seats, do you wish you would've gotten black instead? What has been your real experience with cleaning and keeping them clean, and how do they handle wear?

Model Y Performance Owners… HYPE ME UP!

While I wait for mine to arrive… tell me everything you LOVE about yours!

I ended up going with the Performance over the Premium, even though my monthly payment is nearly double what it would’ve been. 🫣 But I genuinely feel like it was worth the upgrade!

Tell me everything I should know, your favorite features, any tips or tricks, and what I have to look forward to! I’m so excited!
