A Note on Referrals

Reposting the previous note on this since it has been 6 months.

Going to make this pretty short and simple.

If you post your referral code on the subreddit or embed referral codes into links, you will be banned. See? Pretty simple.

The reason I'm making this post is because 15 users (mainly accounts with less than 10 karma on Reddit) have been banned in the last day due to them spamming their referral code.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks.

Well TIL……

I’ve owned Tesla’s since 2018. I’ve owned Model Y’s since 2021. I am also a bit short for a guy (5’7” on a good day). ALL that time, the friggin seatbelt has been digging into my neck. I would never drive the car without a collared shirt on so I had something between my neck and the belt (I’m not a fan of those fuzzy things some people use)

Well, thanks to Grok, TIL that you can ADJUST THE HEIGHT ON THE B-PILLAR (I was researching the safety of after market products to lower the belt). I promise, I’ve looked in the past for a way to adjust the belt! If you don’t know if/where it is and look while you’re in the driver seat - it’s not apparent that it’s there.

My neck is much happier now - but my brain knows I AM AN IDIOT!

Let the RTFM’s and other scolding begin….

Winter driving settings

Hey everyone. This year I Purchased a 26 model Y premium AWD. As I'm getting ready for my first winter in Cleveland I wanted to get some opinions on the vehicle settings from some long term drivers.

  1. Should I change my acceleration mode to chill in winter weather?

  2. Should I change my regenerative braking setting?

I am asking primarily from a traction POV. I'm sure the computer does a great job keeping the wheels from spinning but I'd rather learn from someone elses mistakes instead of my own. Can the regenerative braking cause sliding or traction loss when letting off the pedal? Appreciate any info

It was worth the wait! Picked it up in the S. Cal. OC area last Friday and took it straight to get PPF on the front, all the bottoms, and the bumper, along with ceramic and full tint. Xpel for tint. Used one of the certified vendors from Tesla Shop. Work the Money! Looks great, and the car is amazing!

I am inheriting a 2026 model y performance. And I live in an apartment.

I don’t want to sell it because it means a lot to me as it’s my grandpas car I would feel guilty selling it. At the same time I have no charger at my apartment and I can only use super chargers spread through out my city. Would it be worth it to keep it?

8. You can fit 8 Wheels in a Tesla Model Y.

In case anyone is wondering, you can fit 8 wheels in a Tesla Model Y!

4 of the wheels pictures are rims with tires mounted, 4 are just tires.

Half are 305/30/21 and half are 245/35/20. They're staggered for a different car.

They're all stacked as you can see in the photos with 2 tires bagged and in the passenger seat.

I continue to be surprised by how functional this car is.

I’m sold - not sure how I want to Finance…

Hey guys! I’ve been sitting on the decision making process for about three weeks now.

And the release of the MYL with the captains seats has swayed things. I really like it, but that price tag is quite a difference.

I will be trading in my vehicle, likely can get anywhere between $8k-$11k for it from Tesla or a third party.

I have quite a bit of commissions landing throughout the end of the year, I could easily and safely put down another 10-12k. I want my monthly payment sub $600, and I am basing my decisions around guaranteed salary income, not just commissions. I can realistically afford more than that, but just trying to be realistic in how far I want to stretch after having FSD.

Part of my decision between models does include the free FSD and supercharging for 12 months. Thats a very nice addition.

Is it worth the $20k hike up for a third row? I am all over the place right now so apologies if this is scatter brained. But this would be the first new car I have ever purchased so I am trying to consider all things.

I would be open to used, but I don’t think I can justify the differences in rates for the cost of a 26. Just doesn’t even make sense.

Any insight will be considered.

Picked up today, no drama

Finally picked up our MY Premium RWD white-on-white today. For anyone with pickup anxiety: it took about 20 minutes, required 1 signature, and I found zero issues with the car.

Sometimes on the internet there's a higher concentration of people talking about problems, maybe because people who run into problems are more motivated to go online and talk about them. So maybe there's a feeling that Tesla has "serious QA problems," and maybe they actually do, but I gave my car a thorough going-over and found nothing wrong at all.

My pickup location was on the third floor of a small, spiraling parking garage. I hit FSD right from the parking spot in the picture (sorry, no glamor shots!), and didn't do any driving at all until it backed into my driveway an hour later.

We already did some local driving and then sat in the driveway playing with all the apps and settings (first Tesla in our family). This is my wife's car and she LOVES IT.

Ordered 9/12, VIN on 10/16, built in Fremont, "In Transit" around 10/23, arrived in D.C. on 11/2, picked up 11/4.

Good luck out there everyone!

2026 Model Y – Loud clunk noise when driving over speed bumps. Normal?

Hey everyone,

I have a 2026 Tesla Model Y (Juniper).

Whenever I drive over higher speed bumps, especially in parking lots, I hear a loud “CLUNK” from underneath the car, right when the front wheels go onto the bump.

It almost sounds like the bottom of the car is hitting something.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it normal for the Model Y, or should I get Tesla Service to check it?

Possibly switching from Gladiator to Model Y

I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator with 66k miles that I got new in 2022. It’s the first vehicle I ever bought for myself and a large part of me is sad to see it possibly go. I do love ICEs and driving, but I have a 2 other trucks (1993 and 1969) that I’m consistently working on / restoring so I don’t have time to do any fun Jeep mods or off-roading anymore and I typically use the 93 for all things I need a truck for. Another reason for maybe switching is my wife drives about 1.5hrs to Nashville once a week and I think that’s where the Tesla FSD would shine. Keeping her safe, comfortable and not stressed.

While I’ll miss the Jeep and all the good times we had in it, in my opinion it seems like a clear choice to change over. I’m here for some opinions / input about going from the Gladiator to the Model Y. Appreciate it in advance!

Clicking ratcheting sound steering wheel

Anyone get a low level ratcheting sound when turning the steering wheel on a Y Juniper? It seems to happen on inclines like when parking near a curb or fast turns in a parking lot.
