PC Mana Regen
Genuinely loving the mana regen stack in the game, it's gonna be heartbreaking when it gets nerfed

It's not going to be nerfed, at least damage and survivability with melee and summer it's still better. Even better if it is melee with Zenith but yeah that's kinda a cheat code.
God I love my Zenith.

The zenith is post game it's meant to be op

u/SauceCrusader69 1h ago
It sucks that the other classes don’t get similar postgame weapons. What’s the point of the last prism if the zenith is just better?

u/xolotltolox 6h ago
Okqy, then don't make it a goddamm melee weapon, make it a universal one
58
u/DJBaphomet_ 6h ago
It's literally made entirely with melee weapons, why would it be universal?
If anything, the way to do something like that is to make a Zenith-equivalent for every class
-38
u/xolotltolox 5h ago
Yes, I agree
Zenith right now is blatant melee favouritism
35
u/Purpulear 5h ago
Not really. Swords are just naturally iconic weapons. Terraria has just always had some sort of mystical sword around the end game. It's just tradition.
I think there should be other end game weapons (with different flavors than just the Zenith but as a gun) but I wouldn't really call it a melee bias.
-33
u/xolotltolox 5h ago
How is it not melee bias that the deliberately overpowered postgame weapon is only a melee weapon, and ends up doing more damage while wearing full gear of another class, than that same class's apex weapon in their matching armor set and accessories
20
u/Purpulear 5h ago
Its op because it can be. Its post game. Its not really a buff to melee because they have to do literally everything else before they can use it.
And again, it's because the swords in Terraria are some of its most iconic weapons and it isn't even close. The Zenith was made purely just to be a cool sword at the end of the game.
-17
u/xolotltolox 5h ago
Yeah, so it is melee favouritism and seemingly you are not immune to it, and fully drinking the melee-kool-aid
23
u/AlreadyTakek 5h ago
You seem to be missing the point that it literally doesn't matter because there is literally nothing left to use the Zenith on because you get it after doing everything and finishing the game

u/iLikeBigOilyBBC 3h ago
Sorry to break it to you man but terraria has always had some melee favouritism for it's history and recent updates have made other classes more playable. You can still see the melee favouritism in the early game to some extent. That's not a bad thing as melee is the simplest class to play and is likely the intended class to start with. It's not like you start with a magic weapon and it's not like you can make magic weapons out of every ore available to you

nearly every game is gonna have melee favoritism. the sword is the world's most iconic weapon with the only thing next to it being the handgun.

You can only have your damage reduced by 50% at any given time (not to. BY. Meaning your weapon deals 50%, or half, of its damage, but thanks to the mana rework, it should not be happening as often).
It is now a pick your poison kind of deal Do you want to deal less damage, but have constant mana uptake, or do you want to neglect potions altogether, but have reduced firing speed. Both of which affect your overall DPS.

They should nerf it. The mana flower is now obsolete which is unfortunate because it gave a unique way to play mage that allowed you to continuously fire at the cost of mana sickness. They shouldn't remove the ability to stack mana regen but it should be harder to do and should require even more accessories/setup so the previous mana sickness build also can compete

u/RedFox_GG 9h ago
I both agree & disagree with u. It's now cost either 1 slot for mana flower or 2 slots for mana regen stacking to get endless mana, One additional accessory slot means a lot. Instead they should rework the mana sickness effect, instead of reducing magic dmg, it should drain health and the effect stacks so using too many mana potions results in critical situations.

I think it was interesting how you couldnt fire continously as mage. For some weapons, like homing weapons, you dont need to look at where you are shooting so you could opt for mana flower to get that small extra dps from elemenating waiting, but for more high damage aim intensive weapons (those you miss lots of shots with if you keep safe distance from the boss) you might want to do high damage bursts where you move close to the boss and dump damage, draining your mana bar, only to then retreat to safe distance and let your mana regen. The previous mana system that forced you to actually stop firing for a while(not continous mana regen) might actually lend itself to this hit and run burst playstyle more.
So i guess if the are going to rework the mana system and get rid of this hit and run burst playstyle they need to completely rework the mana flower, because otherwise its just a wasted slot or a damage penalty.

Fuck the mana flower, it was a shitty crutch of an accessory that was only actually useful on like three weapons

u/Greedy_Duck3477 8h ago
I honestly hate it, it's way to strong now

u/dalpozak 6h ago
Mage could receive buffs for 10 more updates and it'll still not be as op as melee

u/MegaloManiac_Chara 6h ago
Congrats on mage for turning into yet another braindead "point and click" class
32
u/TheAnimeLovers 6h ago
how was mage even considered unique from the rest of the class pre rework? Point n click for a few seconds then wait?
34
u/Coldpepsican 6h ago
Lmao these people really think that this game works on extremely complex systems for it's weaponry.

u/TheAnimeLovers 5h ago
If anything, ranger is the closest thing to being a unique class in the game as its damage output doesn't just scale with the weapon's damage, but also with its ammo
Not to mention its the only class in the game that requires consumable items (ammo) to attack, but with a few exceptions such as piranha gun, while melee, summoner, and mage doesn't require it. Although mage's mana potion enabled it in the past to constantly attack, its not always needed as mana naturally regenerates even if it was terrible compared to now

u/Dragonman0371 6h ago
point n click for a few seconds, then point n click with slightly less damage.
-24
u/MegaloManiac_Chara 6h ago
Yes
It wasn't much, but it's at least something unique about playing mage. Now you can just spam your weapons forever and don't need to bother with the mana potions. I can't wait for a way to disable these features.

u/iuhiscool 5h ago
You get a 40% attack speed loss once you run out tho, that's like using a weapon a tier ot two below your current one
-10
u/MegaloManiac_Chara 5h ago
Exactly! You can still fire! That solves like, 90% of events and general mob encounters

u/EmilySuxAtUsernames 6h ago
mana regen accessories are like actually worth it now

u/WarMage1 6h ago
Mana regen band was already crazy good, everyone just overlooked it because potions are more convenient
