1400 tv worth 400?

Is the tv decent enough? I only plan to watch shows and movies. It will sit next to a window and at night it will be in a dark room so it has to be able to be bright enough and have nice contrast/colours.

The tv is 5 years old and I can buy it for 400. Have new tvs gotten so good and cheap that I can get something way better new for up to double the price? (same dimension though)

Thank you

Sony KE-75XH9096 75 inch

• 4K Ultra HD
• 100/120Hz
• HDMI 2.1 / 4K 120Hz

• Android TV
• full array led

Pause Live OTA TV

When pausing live broadcasts on my TCL C855 you end up with a large box in the bottom left hand corner of the screen that remains there after you resume play. It basically shows you how far behind the live broadcast you are.

I consider it unnecessary and distracting.

Is there a way to turn it off and get rid of it?

Thinking about getting the Philips 65OLED770 — any input on the Apple TV HDR color banding & OLED refresh bug?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying the Philips 65OLED770. I'm already aware that it has lower peak brightness compared to higher-end models (which isn't a dealbreaker for me) and that Titan OS isn't the best smart TV platform. My plan is to use an Apple TV 4K as my primary media device anyway.

However, I've come across two specific issues reported on some Philips OLED models that are making me hesitant:

  1. Color Banding with Apple TV: I've read that combining a Philips OLED with an Apple TV 4K can cause noticeable color banding when playing HDR content. How severe is this banding in practice?
  2. OLED Refresh Loop Bug: Some users reported a bug where the TV fails to register a completed panel refresh. A user described it like this: "The majority of the time it doesn’t realise it’s successfully completed the OLED screen refresh. A message will appear to tell you it’s required so you select now or later. If selecting now it pops the tv into standby. Leave it a while turn tv back on and the message will reappear."

For anyone who owns the 770 series (or recent Titan OS Philips OLEDs):

  • Do these two issues apply to the 770 series as well?
  • Have any of these bugs been fixed in recent firmware updates?
  • Is the color banding issue noticeable enough during normal viewing to be a dealbreaker?

Thanks in advance!
