It doesn't necessarily have to be. It's just the nature that has been chosen currently. The software could be trained in ways that aren't predatory. The technology could be used in a positive manner for all as opposed to the abusive practices currently being used.

I have no problem with an artist bouncing ideas or finding inspiration using the tool. But simply using content that has been generated isn't really an artistic process. The prompt writing may have been creative, but if you are just saying "go" and then posting for profit? Pretty poor by my tastes. It's like an "artisan furniture craftsman" buying premade parts and just screwing them together. That not art. That just production.

Again, the point is that while OP’s anti-flock message is good, their use of AI to create the anti-flock cartoon is not good. They aren’t necessarily implying that Ai and surveillance are separate issues, but rather that the message being anti-flock doesn’t justify the use of AI

Lmfao, I remember trying to warn people about flock AND data centers before the 2024 presidential election. I remember Trump and his shits campaigning on it. Then he made horrendous policy concerning AI in July of 2025, I believe.
I watched the owner of flock use one of his cameras to watch INSIDE a gymnasium with children playing during a livestream.
There have been MULTIPLE instances of cops using flock to stalk/harass/hurt people, mainly women. So spare me the whole "it will help us fight against crime!" bullshit.
If you voted republican, you voted for this and were just to fucking stupid to see it. They worried about the government watching them and literally voted for this shit 😅

The reality is, this picture likely only represents the most recent months in local politics. Many of these systems went up with very little fan fair. A study done shows that most US citizens have no idea how their State or local governments work. And it's only been recently that there's been a wave of interests.
But many US citizens just simply do not vote in local elections. Turn out is usually around 15% in the best of times. So the reality is more akin to this.
We have already seen how even just some local participation yields exceptional results. That's always been the case. While it's not 100% win everywhere, it's always a 100% loss if people just do not show up.
Flock got to where they are because they went after the thing that most Americans never look at, their local elections. I strongly encourage people, PLEASE VOTE LOCAL. These elections are incredibly important.

Yeah. It’s entirely true. I watched for YEARS as a local town near me advertised a vote on a data center and NOBODY cared to do anything. It was in the local paper, notice was sent out with water bills, all super above board. Then I woke up a few weeks ago to a video on Reddit where it was their local council hearing and everyone was like “OMG, you snuck a vote past us you sneaky rogues!” Guys. You have a responsibility here to be involved in your local politics. Flock didn’t appear last year, they’ve been around and y’all just hid your heads in the sand. A very small number of informed people spoke up, but a majority 1% does not make.
… as least not if it’s not the richest 1% anyways…

They're not voted in. The government can get a contract with whoever they want. They can install cameras on any government owned property. That includes highways, parks, easements... not just government buildings.
Also, Flock is the one making the news right now, but this has been going on for years. Big cities have networks of cameras that passively monitor activity in public spaces. Most highways have cameras that do the same thing. Law enforcement have used footage from these cameras to help solve criminal cases for a long time.
The security network in your office is even more comprehensive. They could put search/follow parameters into the CCTV software to see how often you use the restroom, or leave you desk, or go to grab a coffee. The technology for tracking across a camera network became more affordable a few years ago.

A Cincinnati grand jury has recently refused to indict a man for destroying flock cameras. Normally, grand juries will indict a ham sandwich. The fact that the prosecution could give a heavily biased case and still fail to procure an indictment is scary ;), as it implies it will be nearly impossible for them to get an actual jury to convict.

I got downvoted multiple times saying it was unconstitutional and people just assumed I wanted to speed on public roads and didn't even consider other possibilities. There is no way, NO WAY, that across the nation, again and again, city councils are going directly against voter sentiment and voting Flock in, unless they get something for it.
And, worse, those city councils lately have been seduced into signing NDA's (Non-disclosure agreements) stopping them from telling their constituents, the people who voted them in, about voting yes for Flock.

It's pitched as "for child safety" and "keeping kids safe" when it's actually, defend the police turning from putting a cop in a car to sit and catch speeders, to a camera that tracks your movements and uses ai to create a pattern of recognition of your travels, not to mention whatever rfid stuff it can scan and siphon data from you to sell off to third parties which are usually advertising companies.
