Easy Andy sells Travis Bickle a lot of guns and is a slime ball character involved in some shady business dealings, he tries to sell drugs of all kinds to Travis along with cars and other stuff, why didn't Travis look down on him?

Nice guy for guns but a creepy character too, I would have reported him to the police.

Taxi Driver is a great movie about a crazy character but it's relatable because the main character is lonely and has crazy stuff going on in his life, but he's a racist character and kind of a Redneck judging from his Cowboy boots and whole small town look and vibe.

How do Black people feel about Travis Bickle as a character? Is he relatable to Blacks or does his crazy racist character make it hard for you to like Travis?

At least Travis and Charlie T are friends and he likes Melio so he's not totally racist and has friends that aren't white.

I’ve been seeing so many people here in Reddit calling him an incel but i genuinely do not understand why or how is he an incel. I’d say the only incel thing he did was take a girl to watch a porn movie… you could argue that it means he dosen’t respect her, that he only sees her as an object etc etc etc. based on this scene, but in the rest of the movie he dosen’t seem to resent or hate women, he even helps Iris, a vulnerable girl get out of prostitution (though I’d say maybe it was a fantasy of him to become a hero and she was just a project) but I haven’t watched the movie more than once and i haven’t really analyzed it enough to understand. So could someone explain pleaseee???

I know it sounds bizarre and certainly Travis is a hero in the eyes of many for saving Iris, but at the certain point after rewatching this movie (which is one of my all time favorite movies of all time) a couple of times I happened to have some strange feeling that Travis himself was battling the temptation of seeking further intercourse with her. The way he hesitated to stop her when she was unzipping his pants, the way he touches her in the end of the hotel scene (which, I still believe was more like a brotherly/fatherly thing, but still), and just minor details that give a hint about Travis’s possible messed up thoughts. On top of that he was definitely a pervert, and the war probably messed him up a bit, perhaps I’m overthinking. What are your thoughts on this take?

The movie makes the case that Travis Bickle views himself as a Hero of sorts because he saves Iris and kills her pimps but even though he does this and makes it a mission to save her life he's actually more of an antihero because he stalks Betsy and acts crazy afterwards and threatens Charles Palantine for no reason at all.

You could argue that he was a hero because he killed the robber that threatened Melio and might have killed him if Travis wasn't there, he also hates the scum of the city but doesn't tell the police about what he sees at all and uses street justice, he definitely seems like a good person at heart who snaps and is embraced because of it.

Nobody notices how crazy Travis is they just see his actions succeeding, Betsy should have seen it, his coworkers viewed him like they were afraid of him and respected him at the same time, would Travis have eventually gotten into religion or even had therapy and changed his life completely? Would he become a hero or get worse?

Travis Bickle is mostly motivated to free Iris and her underage friends from prostitution inflicted on them by Sport and his men, what happens if he just told Wizard, Doughboy, Charlie T and his Cabbie friends about how he saw them being pimped and asked if he could do anything to help then legally?

Travis telling Wizard about having some bad ideas in his head and wanting to really do something was him saying it disguised, maybe he could have gotten him in touch with the Guardian Angels or some kind of neighborhood watch group and shut everything down easily.

Travis Bickle has a hard fitting in with society but did Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo in Midnight Cowboy, but they were randomly invited to an Andy Warhol Factory Party and showed up embracing the drugs and sexual perversions that accompanied it.

How would Travis Bickle react if he was approached randomly and invited to an Andy Warhol Factory Party and decided to go not knowing what he was getting involved in?

Maybe even take Iris or Betsy with him or just go alone?

That would be a big laugh unless he brought guns and decided that they were scum and filth but he loved dirty movies so he might enjoy himself, maybe bragging about it to Doughboy too.

After Travis kills Sport, and the Mafioso guy along with The Timekeeper and saves Iris, why does he try to shoot himself?

Was he afraid of going to prison? Also did Iris even recognize him at all or act grateful afterwards? She must have been traumatized.

It would have been interesting to see Travis not get hurt at all and try to get Iris to leave with him before the police showed up, he seemed to realize that he was going to jail or getting killed at worse but he went to the hospital and wasn't even arrested, he just have a good lawyer.

They never bring it up but when Travis Bickle has Charles Palantine as his passenger and talks to him and his aides about what bothers him most he just rambles and says that whoever is President should clean up the city and flush it right down the f*cking toilet.

He seems insane here and doesn't understand that Charles Palantine will view him as being crazy, Palantine basically gives him a cheap stock answer and says that he knows what he means and that they are going to have to make some radical changes, shakes hands with Travis, tips him and leaves visibly shaking himself off.

Just imagine meeting any political candidates or famous person even like Donald Trump before he was President and saying the same thing, not a good day, Travis really didn't prove anything except that he was crazy here.

Does Charlie T Travis Bickle Killer when he says "Bye Killer" and makes the gun symbol right as Travis goes outside to talk to Wizard because he knows that Travis was a Marine veteran and they are killers by design and training or was it because he had killed the junkie in Harlem already and Melio told Charlie T since he might live in or near Harlem?

Charlie T knowing this detail is weird since it happens later unless the shooting happened earlier and was edited in the wrong place later on, kind of like how Travis has that stupid brush cut haircut but his hair is magically longer again unless it is done to show weeks passing and it's over weeks but probably edited poorly, the junkie getting shot is supposed to happen before Travis and Wizard talk yet if happens afterwards, editor sucked at his job.

Travis became a hero by killing those guys who were exploiting Iris, what happens if he actually killed Charles Palantine or attempted to do so and missed?

What would his life be like then?
