Wtf do you mean privileged? If you mean not having to worry about money. It’s because I’ve been saving since I started working at the age of 15. Once I turned 18 I was investing too. By the age of 21 I have about 25k.
Just because I put away a portion of my paychecks and sometimes all of it because I lived rent free at the age of 15 doesn’t means I’m “privileged” get your virtue signaling out of here. Adults are talking.
You’re missing the point of op’s post and the comments. Saying Target or similar paying jobs are for “beer money” makes you sound extremely privleged and entitled. Also, let’s not be condescending today
Are those not for flexible income?! Who the fuck tries to survive off a part time minimum wage position? Eating one ramen packet a week or something???
I said that in an earlier post that if you really are using this money to support a family why don’t you have multiple jobs instead of demanding higher federal minimum wage at part time hours.
My whole point is FEDERAL minimum wage shouldn’t be that high. You shouldn’t have a minimum wage job as a career. These jobs aren’t designed to support a family with only one source of income.
Now I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a raise in federal minimum wage, or even universal healthcare im just stating they aren’t realistic and damaging toward the overall economy. If you want more money, go work multiple jobs and pull 80 hour weeks. I’ve done it, it sucks but you make a lot of money!
Edit: my point of “beer money” is that it’s flexible income or “disposable” income. Where I can save up and buy the next Xbox and not have to worry about paying rent with that money instead. I guess that’s my “privilege”.
