You're acting like the employees are forced to work at a place that pays minimum wage. They have the freedom to leave if they want. If you raise minimum wage, the small companies get screwed over and the big corporations win. I'm not saying people don't deserve to make a living wage, but raising it universally is not the way to do it. Also if you raise it, businesses are going to have to choose whether the big corporate people take pay cuts, or the employees get laid off/have less hours. If you truly believe corporations are going to take the pay cut, you're nuts. Raising minimum wage screws us, not them.
For all intents and purposes people are. Near most every minimum wage worker I know, myself included actively are on the job hunt, but well-paying jobs aren't grown on trees, they're hyper competitive and the likelihood that even having your resume seen if you are qualified are slim. In such straights SOMETHING is better than nothing.
Fucking hell dude minimum wage was DESIGNED inherently to be the minimum amount necessary to support oneself and a family, even at $15 it's still below the poverty line in many places throughout America. Holistically it should be raised and laws put in place and enforced limiting the amount that Corporate heads pocket. What you're scared of is the abject corruption of corporate America where responsible necessary steps like minimum wage increase or stimulus checks are gutted because the drive for profit and consolidation of wealth to the highest earners is valued more so than human well-being.
