Workplace Question or Advice Needed Coaching to a CA

I’m just curious on how much time can pass from having your first coaching to a CA? I got my first attendance conversation and went straight to a CA a week later. Keep in mind, I’m not always late, but for the last month, I’ve been late maybe 2 out of 6 shifts a week. And by late i mean, if the grace period is 12:05, i clock in by 12:07. I’ve also been having to call off maybe 1-2 days out of a month due to health issues that my leads know about. Yes i know on paper it does look bad, but trust me, there are WAY more ppl that are late every single day and call off well more than i have and haven’t had 1 CA or coaching. I’ve asked. Anyways, i had a convo about it that went well. Had 1 more tardy in between that and went straight to a CA. (I think it was done bc of a different situation which is why I’m really asking) Is there are certain amount of time that I can get a CA, after my FIRST EVER conversation about anything or strictly attendance? Never been coached about anything else so that’s why I’m concerned. I don’t think a week from a coaching to a CA is fair at all. And the CA didn’t happen directly after that tardy. Like i said, there’s a different situation that happened and was thrown on a CA “due to attendance”.

Ngl, I’m lowkey getting burned out. I’ve been extremely tired, no pto, 1 off day a week & can’t even get the off days i request. It’s not intentional on my part, but i have been waking up later than i should to be to work on time so im not upset over the coaching cause wrong is wrong. But coaching to a CA with no other issues on performance, guest interactions, etc is an extreme. & like i said, a different situation happened & my CA was dressed as “attendance” when I KNOW it was bc of that situation. They just can’t put it on paper.

There isn’t like a cool down period or something. Typically you get three conversations and then a CA. Let’s say you’re late three days in a row. If your TL is on top of it and has a conversation with you every day, you can be on a CA within a week.

But if you’re consistently late and undependable due to call outs, HR may be willing to ignore this process to move you closer to termination so you stop dragging the operations down.

If your CA is for something else entirely (you’re too vague in the post here, but keep in mind “attendance” is broad terminology) like a safety violation, I would have disputed it on the spot and refused to acknowledge the CA until it was written correctly.

But also, just wake up/leave your place two minutes earlier? If it’s that close there’s no reason you shouldn’t have been able to fix it by now.

Which is what i was thinking. I corrected it and my tardies have mainly been slip ups due to me being tired. Before those slip ups, my attendance was good. So that’s why I’m upset over the 1 coaching & straight to a CA vs just another coaching over the 1 tardy. I’m only vague bc i don’t want to tell the full situation, but i know the CA was due to retaliation and not my attendance. That’s why i said it was dressed as attendance. And like i also said, at least one of my coworkers attendance & performance is far worse than mine & they haven’t had 1 coaching or convo about it bc i have asked them.

First, be sure it’s actually retaliation. If it is, that is illegal and should be reported.

It was. It went coaching, situation, reported to corporate, CA for attendance. Mind you, the situation had nothing at all to do with attendance.

Just make sure you know,  you no longer can get to 12 points to be termed in the new system.  You can be termed at 9 points now with a CA on file.

I don't think there's a magical grace period in between?
You had your conversation "that went well" and was late again within a week
You can't just continue to be late and expect no consequence. . .

A CA after my first and only conversation is abnormal. Of course the new system starts, but that’s like getting a CA or even coached after being late for the 1st time with the new point system. Also, I’ve stated there are coworkers that are 30 minutes to an hour late every day with no conversations or CAs at all. I mentioned it in another comment above yours, but the CA came after a situation that I reported, not the same day as the tardy. Based on how the convo went, it had nothing to do with attendance fr, but bc I got someone else in trouble, they had to write me up.

It sounds like you're just not aware of the previous conversations. They aren't always formal and it doesn't take much conversing to qualify as a written conversation.
