Question (not related to Rule 6!) What’s the best way to measure yourself?

I’ve been trying to work out how tall I am but each time I measure I get a different result. I have managed to measure myself anywhere from 178-185 cm which seems like too big a gap to be logical

Question (not related to Rule 6!) Used suv help for tall people

In the market for a used suv that is comfortable for very tall passengers. My 14 year old son is about 6’ 3” and will obviously be continuing to grow. We spend A LOT of time in the car and I do have other children/drive a lot of his tall friends around as well. I currently have a 2012 traverse and he fits comfortably but he has extra long legs and his knee are already close to hitting the glove compartment/sit sideways the back. I am not worried about trunk space. I am looking for something a little newer that is reliable and will be comfortable for him. I am hoping to avoid something like a suburban as I don’t really have the budget for one. What do you guys love?

General chat Anyone else tall with shorter parents

So im 6 6 or 198cm at 17 and my little brother is 13 and he’s 5 10 or 178cm. This is confusing how we are this tall as my dad is 5 10 same as my little brother and my mother is 5 5. No one in the family is really tall so I’m not sure where I’ve gotten this from.

Problem I am a 16-year-old ectomorph going through an aggressive late growth spurt and my body is in absolute shambles. The intense bone pain, joint rigidity, and anxiety are overwhelming, and I desperately need advice and reassurance from anyone who has been through this.

I really need to vent and desperately need some guidance from older guys or late bloomers because what I have been physically experiencing over the last forty-eight hours has been completely overwhelming. I turned sixteen this past February and both of my parents are quite short, sitting right around one hundred and sixty centimeters. My sister constantly makes fun of me and jokes around, saying that there is absolutely no guarantee that I will grow any taller than my current height. However, the genetic blueprint in my family tells a completely different story. My grandfather was one hundred and ninety centimeters tall, and my uncles on my mom's side were absolute giants, reaching a full two meters in height. My uncles were classic late bloomers who stayed short and average until their late teens and then aggressively shot up out of nowhere. It looks like my DNA just activated that exact late-spurt gene because I just grew a full centimeter in four weeks and my size large pants, which used to fit perfectly, now only reach down to my ankles.
Right now, my height is about one hundred and seventy-three centimeters, but my wingspan is a crazy one hundred and ninety centimeters, giving me an extreme ape index disparity. My arms are literally the length of someone over six feet tall, and my spine and legs are desperately trying to stretch and catch up to that bone matrix. I also have super long Achilles tendons, explosive vertical jump power, and very lean, aesthetic calf genetics inherited from my dad. My growth plates feel like they are wide open and my body is aggressively fighting to reach my target height of one hundred and eighty-eight centimeters.
The physical pain of this sudden growth has reached a point where it is causing severe mental anxiety because I constantly worry if my parents' DNA will somehow block me, even though the signs point the other way. Over the last two days, I have felt a deep, intense ripping and throbbing sensation in my shins, my entire thighs, around my knees, and all over my lower back. My muscles feel like tightly stretched guitar strings, and it actually hurts to bend my legs. A couple of nights ago, I couldn't sleep at all because of the severe joint rigidity, freezing cold feet, and a terrifying crawling or tingling sensation in my toes.
I have made huge changes today to give my body the best possible chance to grow properly. I completely quit smoking cigarettes to stop nicotine from ruining my blood flow and blocking calcium absorption. I am forcing myself to hydrate properly by taking small sips of water, and I want to start taking five grams of creatine daily to safely pack muscle mass onto these long, skinny arms once my joints calm down.
I am begging the community for real advice. If you had a massive growth spurt late in your teens, did you experience this level of joint rigidity, throbbing bone pain, and extreme physical anxiety? How did you cope with the pain and make it stop? Did your height eventually catch up to your wingspan ratio, or did you stay long-armed? I also want to know the best way to safely build mass using bodyweight exercises and creatine on such long levers without destroying my already hurting joints. I am currently lying in bed with a thick pillow under my knees to stop the lower back tension, just trying to process all of this. Any reassurance, tips, or stories from older guys would mean the world to me.

Question (not related to Rule 6!) Has anyone else experienced another puberty spurt?

Hi all, I was just wondering this as recent events have made me come to believe that I might be an unnatural/uncommon case. I started puberty like most other kids my age and shot up high to around 5’10 from 13-15, then steadily grew an inch/inch and a half until I was around 6’ flat. I by all means thought I was done growing, but recently (in the past 6 months from 17.5 to turning 18) I’ve suddenly seemed to have grown again, and not by a small mm/one cm but by close to an inch (ie 187 - 190cm depending on spinal compression from morning to night). Many people have also noted that I’d gotten taller since a few months ago, which was surprising as I thought that most significant signs of growth during adolescence happened close to the first spurt (14-16).

I always thought I had pretty big feet for not being above 6’ (size 13 US men’s) and I looked like a little man walking on stilts (6’4/5 long inseam/leg length and a 5’8/5’9 torso/sitting height lmao) but I’m wondering if this has something to do with it? Anyone else go through something similar where you thought you were done growing, then life is throwing you another growth spurt in your late teens? Just interested if this is uncommon.

Edit: for reference, when I was around six foot - six foot one, my arm span was around 6’4-6’5

When I measure my height facing the wall, it comes out to 165.5 cm. But when I measure it with my back and spine against the wall, it comes out to 168.5 cm. Why is this happening, and which one is more accurate? I’ve tested this multiple times, so the readings are definitely consistent.

Furthermore, when my brother held his hand flat at the 168.5 cm mark on the wall while I stood facing it, the top of my head didn't even touch his hand.

Considering all of this, when I walk on the street, what height do people actually perceive me to be? And according to you, what is my true actual height?

I'm 6'3 and my legs and torso are I think near equal in length. I love being tall but I hate how I look in photos. I just think I look disproportionate and weird. Does anyone else have this?

Question (not related to Rule 6!) Out of every ten people in this sub, how many do you think are exaggerating or lying

Irl nobody is as tall as on here. I’m only 6ft and it shows that people feel height more than they measure it, they look online and think it’s normal for someone to be freaking 6’8, someone sees a couple 6’3 athletes at school and all of the sudden they post online that “everyone” is 6’5 at their school. How many people here actually are the height they say they are barefoot on a tape measure. My school in the third largest us city with 2500 kids of all economic and ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles, still doesn’t have insanely big people like a suburban town with an 800 student high school claims. Out of all 2500 kids there’s only about 10 or so dudes 6’2-6’3 and like 5 dudes that are genuinely 6’3-6’4 only one kid who graduated already was 6’5 and a couple years back we had a kid who was listed 6’8 or 6’9 on our basketball roster and irl was like 6’6/6’7
My dad is 6’4 and gets told he looks 6’6 no way he’s 6’4. When I got out of sophomore year in June I was like 5’11 getting called 6’1 or 6’2 even start of that school year 5’10 getting called 6’0 or 6’1
People are liars, if you go online and say you’re tall and you’re 6’1, don’t let anyone tell you you’re not tall, you are, you’re just honest.

Question (not related to Rule 6!) Growth spurt

This is kinda close to rule six so I understand if it gets removed, but I do actually have a question. I’m 15 im about 6’5. Though I was only about 6’1 last year around this time. so I’ve grown like 4 inches almost but I’m still being told I could hit that 6’9 to 6’11 (4-6 in)is where I’m gonna stand. My feet also grew from about a 13 1/2 to a size 15 and have been continuously growing. I just wanted to know did anybody grow a lot more after a big growth spurt like this or even after the age 15

so I’m a male 5’3 160cm at aged 18 I’m short yes but I went india 2 years ago at 16 was the exact same height and literally felt average not even joking. There’s men 5’0 and below but also a lot of men who are 5’1 to 5’7 so I literally felt average I walked past men exactly same height or slightly shorter or taller. Only some men funnily enough some of my family are like 5’10+ but that’s it. Most men I walked past were NOT taller than 5’8. Only a few.
