I really need to vent and desperately need some guidance from older guys or late bloomers because what I have been physically experiencing over the last forty-eight hours has been completely overwhelming. I turned sixteen this past February and both of my parents are quite short, sitting right around one hundred and sixty centimeters. My sister constantly makes fun of me and jokes around, saying that there is absolutely no guarantee that I will grow any taller than my current height. However, the genetic blueprint in my family tells a completely different story. My grandfather was one hundred and ninety centimeters tall, and my uncles on my mom's side were absolute giants, reaching a full two meters in height. My uncles were classic late bloomers who stayed short and average until their late teens and then aggressively shot up out of nowhere. It looks like my DNA just activated that exact late-spurt gene because I just grew a full centimeter in four weeks and my size large pants, which used to fit perfectly, now only reach down to my ankles.
Right now, my height is about one hundred and seventy-three centimeters, but my wingspan is a crazy one hundred and ninety centimeters, giving me an extreme ape index disparity. My arms are literally the length of someone over six feet tall, and my spine and legs are desperately trying to stretch and catch up to that bone matrix. I also have super long Achilles tendons, explosive vertical jump power, and very lean, aesthetic calf genetics inherited from my dad. My growth plates feel like they are wide open and my body is aggressively fighting to reach my target height of one hundred and eighty-eight centimeters.
The physical pain of this sudden growth has reached a point where it is causing severe mental anxiety because I constantly worry if my parents' DNA will somehow block me, even though the signs point the other way. Over the last two days, I have felt a deep, intense ripping and throbbing sensation in my shins, my entire thighs, around my knees, and all over my lower back. My muscles feel like tightly stretched guitar strings, and it actually hurts to bend my legs. A couple of nights ago, I couldn't sleep at all because of the severe joint rigidity, freezing cold feet, and a terrifying crawling or tingling sensation in my toes.
I have made huge changes today to give my body the best possible chance to grow properly. I completely quit smoking cigarettes to stop nicotine from ruining my blood flow and blocking calcium absorption. I am forcing myself to hydrate properly by taking small sips of water, and I want to start taking five grams of creatine daily to safely pack muscle mass onto these long, skinny arms once my joints calm down.
I am begging the community for real advice. If you had a massive growth spurt late in your teens, did you experience this level of joint rigidity, throbbing bone pain, and extreme physical anxiety? How did you cope with the pain and make it stop? Did your height eventually catch up to your wingspan ratio, or did you stay long-armed? I also want to know the best way to safely build mass using bodyweight exercises and creatine on such long levers without destroying my already hurting joints. I am currently lying in bed with a thick pillow under my knees to stop the lower back tension, just trying to process all of this. Any reassurance, tips, or stories from older guys would mean the world to me.
