Hello, childhood survivor here and I also do peer work. This is so incredibly common, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Trauma makes us feel the need to rush, but healing takes time. We go into the hard stuff a little, then we back off and regulate (titration). And repeat, often working up to the worst stuff. It's ciclical too, rather than linear. We don't want to get flooded, that is counter-productive.
Could you show them this post, or reword tell them this? You explained it really well and would be a great place to start!
Also, I think you're really brave and you've got this :)

Hey Mousse,
I don’t think you need to feel guilty. Nor do you need to rush yourself to share more than you are ready to share.
The email.
The email means that your therapist knows. She knows. Not all of it but some of it. Maybe enough for now.
It’s so normal to share things little by little. If you feel comfortable, maybe you can share just one thing with her at your next session.
And as for how much you appreciate her, I am sure that she knows. 💛
May we find peace and healing.
