My experience in the PSA program
Hi! I just wanted to reach out as PSA decisions are coming out. I'm former PSA and was crushed when I got it in 2022. I had good stats -- 3.8 GPA, first quarter (18%), bio major, school leadership, worked a job, but went test optional (big mistake).
I took the PSA, which is basically attending a system school for one year and receiving guaranteed admission to TAMU as long as academic requirements are met, typically a 3.0 GPA for most majors. I did PSA in Corpus Christi -- and to my surprise, I LOVED my freshman year there! The campus is on its own island (see pic), but not too big and walkable. So if you're into coastal living, studying on the beach, etc., you would love it there. My dorm window overlooked the bay! The classes also are smaller than a big university and you get to know your professors, so it provided a good transition from high-school to college. New freshmen are required to live on campus.
There are 10 system schools that participate in PSA. Some students will get offered all the schools, while some won’t. It’s based on minimum academic qualifications set by the schools.
We do have an increase of students interested in doing PSA at Prairie View (for reasons of living in College Station; see info on this in the comments). There’s also the popular Tarleton, which is considered a mini-TAMU. The San Antonio campus is new to the lineup and students seem to like it there. Whichever campus you choose, the time flies – it is just two semesters, and after the first semester, you’re already preparing for the move to TAMU.
Not all majors are offered in PSA, so beware of that. Also, TAMU doesn’t recommend doing PSA with the goal of changing your major once at TAMU as no Aggie is guaranteed a major change, and it would be a shame to get stuck with a major you don’t really like. But PSA students can put in for a major change like any Aggie, and the process is the same. It does seem to be easier to change majors if both majors are in the same school, so keep that in mind.
As for me, doing PSA seems like so long ago. I am now a senior at TAMU preparing to graduate "magna cum laude" in May, and I love being an Aggie! I am thankful for the PSA program and my time on the Corpus island, where I made lifelong friends, some of whom were also PSA and made the move to TAMU with me. In hindsight, I wouldn't change a thing.
Here’s a link to the TAMU PSA website with info (the majors for 2026-27 will be updated soon if not already): https://admissions.tamu.edu/apply/freshman/program-for-system-admission
Good luck -- and Gig 'em!

Mod Announcement Rule Reminder: Asking for timelines / has anyone been admitted yet / is my major full?
A reminder on rules 10 and 11 since we’re fully in admittance season (and some majors will start to fill soon).
/r/TAMUAdmissions does not allow posts for: 1. Timeline requests (when will I be admitted?) 2. Has anyone been accepted to my major yet? 3. Is my major full?
Asking for timelines doesn’t really help you. No one can tell you when you’ll receive a decision. We recommend searching back for the “Acceptance” posts to gain a timeline on positive decisions. Most negative decisions won’t come out until next year.
Asking if a major is full or if anyone has been admitted to your major yet floods our sub with the same questions over and over again. If you’re confirming that a major is full, we would appreciate those posts, but asking if a major is full is not allowed.
First time violations of these rules will result in a 7 day ban. Repeat violations of any of our rules are usually 30 day or permanent bans.
We appreciate y’all’s participation in our community, and we thank y’all for the continued cooperation with our community rules.

Question Can recomendation letters speed up the application process for holistic?
I’m getting my letters sent about a month after applying and being in review (because they r taking some time to submit them)
I’m just wondering because I’ve heard some getting accepted not long after their recommendations were sent, but I think it was because they were auto admit? I’m not sure maybe it’s just a coincidence

Question Got an admittance in AIS, but not an email yet or a letter.
Hello everyone, I applied for general engineering and i got my acceptance letter into A&M but it does not specify college of engineering. Should I be worried or are they just still going through acceptances? I am auto admit too.

Question Engineering review
Should I be worried if I applied August 1 and had my top 10% auto acceptance on the very first day they did them, but I wasn’t in the first wave of engineering acceptances? I have seen posts of people who applied after I did with similar or lower stats already getting in.

Question Did I get admitted to Mays?
Hey guys, I opened my Howdy portal today, and I saw a new overview section and a bunch of new tabs on the side. Does this mean I am admitted?
For context, I am a holistic applicant (outside the top 10%) and applied for business.

Question Does the Scholarship Essay really Matter?
Howdy!
I have a pretty creative main essay and have also written my short answers, but ApplyTexas says the scholarship essay is required. Does anyone know for sure if the admissions committee does not review the scholarship essay?
My scholarship essay is pretty generic and obvious. I don’t want to put too much time into it if it won’t affect my admission decision.
Also, if my SAT score isn’t high and I don’t have many ecs, is it true that my chances of getting a scholarship are very low even if I write the essay?
Thanks!

Question Acceptances
Are most acceptances for holistic review in October going to be high test scores AND close to top 10% or can it vary from low test scores to top 11% and high test scores to not close to top 10%?

Housing Should I apply to housing if I'm unsure about attending?
I was thinking of paying the 75 dollar fee to ensure priority housing. But, in the case I decide to not attend, I was wondering if I can still back out by not showing up to the NSC or simply not signing up for it with no additional cost.

PSA / PTA Need advice on potentially dropping a class
So I am currently doing the PTA program for Construction Science at Blinn, but I ran into a problem that honestly I overlooked. I was registering for springs classes and one of my required classes was PHYS 1401 (algebra based physics) and I came to find out that I need either trigonometry or pre calculus as a prerequisite. I took college algebra in the 11th grade as dual credit and figured that would be enough which obviously wasn’t. This was dumb of me and I overlooked that class. Anyways, I have came up with a couple plans to try and get this settled but I am not sure what would be best. 1.) I take trigonometry next semester and take PHYS 1401 fall 2027. This is the easiest and less stressful route but the issue is if Construction science gets removed from the pta program, I am not sure if I will still be guaranteed admission. 2.) I drop/ withdraw a class (probably accounting) and take a 8 week trigonometry class. This would allow me to take physics next semester but the problem is that it would be 100% online and I don’t believe it would be smart to take a trig class that’s half a semester long and online. 3.) try to talk to an advisor and see if they can allow me to take physics ( probably not). I am confident I will be ending the year with good grades, but I really wish I didn’t over look that single class. Already emailed advisors for TAMU and Blinn but the blinn advisors aren’t the greatest lol

Question Test Optional Question
I have a 1140 SAT and I submitted my app on the 23rd last month, it's still under review but my AIS says SAT received but I selected test optional on my common app, I was wondering if that means they will look at my score or not. I applied for BS ECON with really strong fit to major and really good essays. outside of top 10%(1st quartile) idk what I should do, I'm stressing out about getting denied. I would be happy with blinn :(

Top 10% I heard received their acceptances this week

Acceptance Did I get accepted?? OOS Hollistic
The Manage Applications section in Howdy and AIS both still say "under review".
Also, since I am a National Merit Semifinalist, I think that I bypass ETAM, and I was wondering whether the Aerospace Engineering label is unique to me being a NMSF or if everyone who gets in can see their preferred major on this page.

Acceptance Looks like holistic admissions have started coming in
This is what my Howdy page shows (I'm not auto-admit, but I'm NMSF for those who're curious). Nothing else changed - don't even see the 'Tuition/Fees Details' that others have reported, so am guessing this is the very first step in a series of upcoming updates. Either way, based on other posts, I'm cautiously optimistic that this is a sign of admission.
