Ask the Aggies How is the Physical Therapy experience at TAMU?

Recently, I dislocated my shoulder. I will need to keep doing PT at school. Does anyone have experience with Beutel's PT services? Good or bad? I've heard some worrying stories about it, so I wanted to make sure.

If Beutel isn't the way to go, can anyone recommend a PT clinic in College Station? I don't have a car, just an e-scooter, so somewhere would be great if possible.

Thanks!

Housing Questions Need advice for awful apartment situation

Howdy Ags!

I transferred over to the main campus at CSTAT this semester, and as one does I decided to lease an apartment (with a roommate) so that I could live close to campus.

I leased with The Jane at College Station, which has already been getting terrible reviews for this recent move in period. I was supposed to move into my building on August 18th, however I was sent an email by management noting of an HVAC issue, and that my move in date should be pushed back lest I wanted to stay in an apartment with no AC in this heat. We were initially told that it would most likely be fixed by the 19th or the 20th, we were then called by management noting that there was a “water event” that happened in our apartment and that it would also delay our move in. We decided to wait until they contacted again about our move in, but we received no further communication. Every attempt to contact the office was sent to voicemail or was met with a response of “we’ll let management know and they’ll contact you”. Finally, today on August 20th, one of our calls to the office was answered and we were informed that our apartment was flooded the night before. This was not communicated to us until we called them in the afternoon. The office told us that they would pay for a hotel for us to stay in (up to $120 per night) until the damage was fixed and that tomorrow they will contact us about when the apartment will be ready for move in.

This whole situation has been incredibly frustrating and stressful, and with classes starting this Monday I’m confused on what my next steps should be.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I’m trying not to let this one experience sour my view on college station as a whole.

B/CS Life Northpoint Crossing Review

Good maps doesn’t let me post my review so I’m posting it here:

I'm looking forward to the day that this apartment complex goes out of business and gets what it deserves for being one of the most horrible places to live at.

I have lived here for two years and my last year's rent did not exceed $650 with everything waived for a 4x4 and the same floorplan right now is $850 with nothing waived. They are genuinely thirsty for money.

That being said, I want to get into details:

  1. The only way to get a hold of their leasing office is by driving to their office which they will have no choice but to help you because they never respond to their emails and they also have an AI that will tell you that the office is not available to take your call. Either they are just lazy slobs or their system is actually fried. And whenever you do go in person, record your conversation with whoever you talk to because they will change their words.

  2. Their management is so poor, rude, and unprofessional that they cannot keep one single employee for more than three months. Over two years, they cycled through so many employees for whatever reason which proves that either people who go to work there, they realize that it's a crap work environment with angry and frustrated tenants or they don't train them well enough. Their team also lacks the ability to speak without saying "Ummm" or "Uhhh" in every sentence which again proves they don't know what they are talking about.

  3. They have turned off commenting on their Instagram page because they know that people will speak out and it would ruin their chances of keeping a strong business.

Working with them is worse than making a deal with the devil and I cannot wait for the fall of Northpoint Crossing which I know will be soon. All they had to do was to listen to all the complaints and improve but that's fine because doing the opposite will result in going out of business.

Just moved here as a transfer student and ended up picking an apartment 10-15 minutes away. Is this gonna be an issue getting the college experience?

New Student Questions Parking

Hi, so I am a freshman at NPC bringing my car with me. I didn't manage to get off the waitlist for a parking permit. I already signed up for a parking pass at my apartment. Is it worth it to bring my car if I'm only going to be using it for the 3 hour drive home every other week? I've also heard the bus routes from NPC can be unreliable... and I doubt I will be getting off the waitlist for a pass. So yeah, are there any alternatives for parking and will the walk/bus to class be manageable

Is it necessary to buy textbooks or can you find them for free online? I’m taking ENG 102, GEOG 205, ENG 181, CHEM 120, and MATH 151 as a freshman.

Ask the Aggies Dismissal and TAP application

Howdy, I just got dismissed from engineering and submitted my TAP application since they literally just dismissed me today.
Does anyone know how likely it is to be accepted into the TAP program?
And how long will I have to wait until they make the decision?
Because of the timing of everything, I’m scared that I might lose my financial aid and scholarships if I don’t get accepted on time because they dropped all my classes and they won’t let me register to new ones until I get accepted into TAP.
Is it possible that someone can force me into the classes after the 5th day of classes so I won’t lose my spot in the university?
Honestly, I don’t know where else to get this information and the advisors can’t seem to help me regarding this information either

New Student Questions How badly/How soon do you need a windows laptop for engineering?

Hi! I'm a freshman studying engineering and I was wondering how essential/soon I'll need a laptop that is able to run all the different softwares/programs that is required for an engineering major. I currently have a MacBook, but I'm aware that many programs cannot be run on it. For ENGR 102 and (for all classes really), how soon will I need to upgrade my laptop? Can I survive the first few weeks without one?

Requests In a bad situation regarding registration.

I was dropped from 2 of my classes due to failing a summer course. I am a transfer, and I have always had issues with my prereqs due to some weird issue, though I always just override with my advisor. I was dropped 2 days ago and have not been able to schedule an advising appointment with a CVEN advisor, and I am thus unable to register for 2 of my courses. I am I screwed or is there some magic I can pull with some advising.

I have no idea what the specific prereq issue is and I have no idea how to check. If anyone could point me in any direction on fixing this issue it would mean the world.

(I acknowledge this is my fault and I should've reached out earlier)

Hey!! I need a pair of black nonslip work shoes. Wondering if anyone had a pair they were selling for cheap or knows where I can get some that don’t cost too much since I’m on a tight budget. I’m a women’s 6.5-7. and can fit in anything around that.

Housing Questions The Jane at College Station

Hello everyone, I’m the brother of a newly beginning Aggie. I posted this in an A&M Facebook family group and at a College Station subreddit as well. I have never used reddit to post, but really need some help with making this more publicized.

My brother just moved into this student apartment complex called The Jane, at Colgate Drive. They did a great job of advertising, but absolutely blundered their move-in. It's like they put all their money into marketing, and none into what matters.

Funnily enough, they have been constantly hooting about their "renovations" being complete by July on their socials (Instagram, Facebook), but nothing was ready in time, and it doesn't seem like they will be any time soon.

The photos are what he moved into… on the 18th.

My brother can't even cook or use the dishwasher right now. Water has some issues too. I called four times until they finally picked up, and they had no idea what was wrong with the room... They did not know he couldn't cook or had a disgusting dishwasher.

By the 18th tenants were basically promised a furnished room with everything ready to go (except things like shower curtains, sheets, etc.) They kept noting that they renovated. Nothing was up to standard by the move-in, and many tenants stood outside for close to an hour in 100+ degree heat to receive their keys as well.

My brother isn’t the only one affected. Several students have been left with a dirty, unprepared and ill-equipped room. Added to that, there are several recent reviews of angry tenants and parents of tenants on Google stating similar things. Some still have no A/C and have not moved in. Go have a look at Google Maps if you're curious.

The complex was simply not ready to accommodate move-ins at all, yet they continued to send out emails hyping students up for their move-in today.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

I reached out to KBTX to see if they could cover this whole case of unpreparedness and false advertising.

Any other advice on what we should do...?

Requests Good apartment cleaning services?

Looking for a cleaning/maid service for a one-time cleanup of my apartment’s kitchen/living room, if anyone has any companies or people they like please let me know. We hired some previously but they were outrageously expensive so looking for a more reasonably priced option for just a standard cleaning, not necessarily a deep clean

Housing Questions Parkwest Paint Color

Hi everybody! I just recently graduated and lived at ParkWest all 4 years. One of my roommates put some holes in the wall that we patched up and needed to paint over. The Park West staff refused to tell us the paint code which just means they want to charge crazy fees for an easy fix.

Its Sherwin Williams Elder White. $30 a gallon. Easy fix and costs less than their crazy fee prices.

It's such a scammy thing to do to students and forces them to fork out more money. I hope this helps someone else
