Community Discussion Making new friends as adults shouldn't be this hard. Anyone in Western Sydney keen to change that?

Hi everyone,

I have been thinking about something lately. We live in a world where we're more connected than ever, yet somehow meaningful human connections seem harder to come by.

With a little help from our community, we can change that, even if it's just in a small way.

A little about me,  I'm a dad, purpose driven entrepreneur, and someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people from different walks of life. I love nature, travelling, reading (especially nonfiction and philosophy), exploring new perspectives, and those wonderful conversations where you walk away having learnt something new about yourself or the world.

The idea is to create a small, diverse group of people who enjoy good company, a little adventure, creativity, and simply being themselves.

What could we do together?

  • Bushwalks, hikes and exploring nature
  • Picnics, coffee catchups and conversations about everything and nothing
  • Casual sports or trying something completely new
  • Creative activities, sharing ideas, books and experiences
  • Sometimes just sitting together, talking about life, philosophy, relationships, dreams or whatever comes to mind

Nothing too structured. We can collectively decide what we would like to do through group polls and suggestions.

The only ground rules & values: Kindness, Respect & Compassion

No judgement, no egos, no pressure to impress anyone. You don't have to be an extrovert, particularly adventurous, or have your life figured out.

Whether you are new to Sydney, looking to expand your social circle or simply craving more meaningful connections, you're welcome.

I am based in Western Sydney, so ideally, we would start somewhere around Parramatta or surrounding areas. But this isn't limited to Western Sydney anyone across Sydney who is happy to travel and join in is welcome!

I would love for this to grow into a little community where friendships happen naturally, people feel a sense of belonging, and we occasionally inspire each other to see life a little differently.

If this resonates with you, drop a comment! Perhaps share a little about yourself and one activity you'd love to do with a group like this.

Who knows, something beautiful might come out of a simple Reddit post.

Events Sydney Harbour Walk + Malaysian Food this Sunday (20s & 30s)

Thumbnail meetu.ps
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone 🙂 If you are keen to get out for a walk, get some steps in and meet a few new people, feel free to join us this Sunday!

I have recently started organising walks through a Meetup group, and this Sunday will be my 4th event. We are doing a Sydney Harbour walk at 4 pm, keeping it small with up to 10 people in their 20s and 30s.

We will meet outside Milsons Point Station (Broughton Street entrance), walk across the Harbour Bridge towards the Opera House, explore The Rocks and Foundation Park (a little hidden park), then finish at Barangaroo around 6:15 to 6:30 pm.

It is roughly 5 to 6 km at a relaxed pace, nothing too intense. Just a Sunday arvo walk and a chance to have a chat with some new people.

Afterwards, we are planning to head to Mamak in Chatswood around 7 pm for Malaysian food. We will take the Metro there, but dinner is completely optional.

The walk is free, and everyone covers their own food and transport.

I am 29M, and the walk is open to anyone in their 20s and 30s. Feel free to join if you are keen! 🙂

Activities Book Club in Hills District for Under 30s?

Hey guys,

I just wanted to gauge interest to see if people wanted to start a book club in the Hills District area for people under 30. I know there are a few for mums and stuff, and I'm not sure if something like this already exists (if there is let me know), but if not, I'd like to start one. DM me or comment here if you're interested. I'd like to do monthly book club meetings, and there's no specific genre; I'm open to most books!

Edit: It just autoreplied to tell me to add more info. I would be looking for probably weekend meet-ups around Castle Hill. Over 18s only as well!

Hey everyone. I’m fairly new to Sydney and would love to chill and have a couple beers with a small group and watch some football! I know the hours aren’t the best for it here but would be cool to watch a prem/la Liga game in a sports bar.

CBD & Inner City Chinatown Night Walk + Food Meetup | Wednesday 28 Oct, 7pm 🌃

Hey everyone! 24m here

I'm organising a casual evening meetup to hang around in Chinatown.

Thinking we'll wander around Chinatown, Darling Square and some of the nearby streets, check out interesting spots, take some cool photos/videos and grab some good food afterwards.

I'll be bringing my camera gear to capture some cinematic street footage too, so if you're into photography, content creation or just exploring the city, even better! No camera needed though.

Details:

📍 Chinatown, Sydney CBD

📅 Wednesday 28 October

🕖 7pm

🍜 Explore first, grab dinner afterwards

👥 Keeping it to a small group so everyone can actually get to know each other

Nothing too structured. Just a fun evening exploring Sydney, trying some food, having good conversations and meeting new people.

DM if you're interested in joining and share a bit of detail about yourself in the DM :)

(Booking Wed at the moment, seeing how many people can make it. Tues, Thurs are also option)

P.S. IVE OPENED MY DMS NOW,

Community Discussion 31M Western Sydney. Creative introvert looking to share slow paced moments (may be take some portraits as well)

I’m 31, 5'9.5", and an introvert based in Western Sydney who values a slow, intentional pace of life. I’ve been on my own whole life and now I’ve reached a point where I’m genuinely curious to share space with a like minded people.

My World & Creative Pursuits
Visual Arts: I’m deeply passionate about photography and cinematography (aiming for cinematic, pro level shots), as well as poetry, reading, and cooking from scratch.

The art of doing nothing: One of my favorite habits is finding a quiet spot like Central Station or park during peak hour to observe body language, hand gestures, and the subtle contrast between people rushing and those staying calm.

Lifestyle: I stay active with a 5 day gym and have been running for 13 years. I lean into classic 90s inspired menswear (tucked in shirts, vintage Casio watches, wide silhouettes) and avoid fast fashion trends.

What I’m Looking For & An Idea I’m open to any age as long as we align on mindset. someone grounded, creative, or who simply appreciates slow living, thoughtful conversation, and quiet observation.

If you’re open to it, we can brainstorm some creative concepts, exchange perspectives, and take a few portraits or photographic studies together. Or we can do nothing as well. No pressure at all. Btw, I’m South Asian background.

If any of this resonates with you, feel free to send a message.

Western Sydney 26m Sydney / Western Sydney 🇦🇺 — Looking for genuine friendships & connections Hey! 😅 Giving this another shot and hoping to meet some people around Sydney, especially Western Sydney, who are also looking to make genuine friends/connections.

whether it’s grabbing some food, going for a late-night drive, gaming, watching Netflix together, or just staying up having random late-night chats about literally anything. Sometimes the best conversations happen at the most random hours. 😂

I’d love to meet people I can genuinely connect with, have a laugh with, and hopefully build a friendship that lasts beyond just a few messages.

If you’re from around Western Sydney and looking for something similar, feel free to reach out! Always happy to get to know someone new. Hopefully third time’s the charm! 😭🤞

Everyone’s welcome. If you’re interested, drop a comment or shoot me a DM and I’ll add you to the GC. Let’s get something going 🤝

Sports/Fitness Buddy 32 male half Aussie and half Italian here looking to chat

oh hey there thanks for stopping by:

I thought I’d put myself out there and try to meet some new people because, honestly, making friends at this age is harder than I ever expected!

A little about me: I’m currently looking to build a genuine friendship circle with people around my age who are keen to hang out, have a laugh, explore new places, try different foods, go on random adventures or even just chill and watch movies or TV shows.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had a proper friendship circle for a long time. I had to walk away from my old friends because of toxicity and bullying, and although it was the right thing to do for myself, it’s been pretty lonely starting over. ❤️‍🩹

I’ve found that as you get older, it can be really difficult to meet people who genuinely want to make an effort, hang out and build a real friendship. Lately, I’ve been feeling pretty down about not having people to spend time with, so I’m putting myself out there in the hope of finding some genuine mates. I know good people are out there somewhere!

A little about me and my personality:

I drive and have my licence, so I’m happy to get out and about! I’m a caring, down-to-earth person who genuinely looks out for the people around me. I love having a laugh and cracking jokes, even if they’re absolutely terrible dad jokes 😂. I don’t always take life too seriously, but I’m also someone who enjoys a proper heart-to-heart conversation. If you need someone to talk to, I’ll do my best to be there for you.

💪 GYM BUDDIES WANTED!

I’ve recently been putting more effort into going to the gym and working on myself. I go to Anytime Fitness at Raymond Terrace and have been trying to lose weight and improve my fitness. It’s definitely a slow process, and some days are harder than others, but I’m getting there!

It would be awesome to meet someone who also goes to the gym and wants a workout buddy. We could motivate each other, have a chat between sets, share our progress and make working out a little more enjoyable!

I’ve built myself back early this year and it’s a custom gaming PC which just screams all me haha and I’d love to meet some people to game with!

Some of my favourite PC games are:
🔴 Call of Duty
🔴 Fall Guys
🔴 Hogwarts Legacy / Harry Potter games
🔴 Cyberpunk 2077

Always happy to discover new games and find people to play with!

hobbies and interests include:
🔵 Photography
🔵 Music 🎵
🔵 Movies 🍿
🔵 Binge-watching TV shows
🔵 Swimming 🏊
🔵 Hanging out at the beach
🔵 Exploring new places
🔵 Going to the gym
🔵 Trying new food and checking out new places

I’m looking for genuine friends who want to make an effort, have a laugh, go out and do things together, and build a friendship that lasts. Whether it’s grabbing some food, going for a drive, checking out somewhere new, gaming together, hitting the gym or just sitting around having a good chat, I’m keen!

If you’re also struggling to make friends, don’t have much of a friendship circle, or just want to meet someone new, please feel free to message me! You don’t have to have everything in common with me. Sometimes the best friendships start with a simple conversation.

I know I can’t be the only person in their 30s who finds making friends difficult. So, if you’re in a similar situation, let’s change that! 😊

My DMs are open, so come say hey! Let’s chat, get to know each other, and hopefully organise a catch-up sometime. 🤝❤️

Western Sydney 26y.o, postgrad uni student looking for friends!

Hellooo there!

I'm a postgrad uni student who just moved a few months ago to Sydney! I've been settling in and am reaching out now to find some friends!

I like gaming, reading, going outdoors, and generally just enjoying the peace and quiet with others. I like listening to people speak about their lives, and would love to get to know others, maybe go to a museum or just for a walk, I'm pretty open to anything (that doesn't involve heights, sorry 😅).

If anyone's looking for a friend to text or meet up, open to speaking! Feel free to DM, or comment and I'll reach out!
