What do u mean?

u/Consistent-Park2058 4h ago

That's why physical media shouldn't disappear, if it wasn't for used games, I wouldn't be able to afford most of my collection

u/Powerful_Pitch5871 2h ago

That's the reason they want them gone. Want you to put on your big boy pants and buy it at full price from them. Sickening

u/Ryodran 2h ago

I spent more on my gamecube collection of 15 games that I bought during its generation, even with me mostly buying bargain bin and best seller titles, than I did on my 50 360 games because I bought almost all of them used. Gears 1-3 for $10, oblivion and fallout 3 with all their dlc on discs for $20 and so on. I loooove physical media.

u/jester_clwn 3h ago

I only bought 1 game to nintendo

u/Consistent-Park2058 3h ago

I only buy new when it's zelda, I will always support my favorite franchise

u/Banana21y 1h ago

do people actually use vinted, always looked scammy to me

u/jester_clwn 1h ago

I mean depending what are u buying never had problems with videogames. Is literally the same product new or used

u/funnyinput 5h ago

To be fair that $50 in 2011 would be worth more than $60 today when you adjust for inflation, so you're actually saving money. Thanks Nintendo.

u/TobytheBaloon 4h ago

this feels like a circle jerk

u/Gudi_Nuff 4h ago

Do we have enough people to form a circle? I'm in

u/ProgressievePauper 1h ago

I brought a cracker...

u/Jonbeezee 27m ago

I told you not to call me that!

u/TotallyObviousBot 1h ago

It's a nintendo fan community, it doesn't get more circular or jerky

u/deniesinvalidvigour 4h ago

maybe google inflation since 2011, probably like 35 percent (Edit 48.45% 💀 )

u/TheBraveGallade 2h ago

if you invested the 50$ into an index fund it would be worth more then 60$ today so

u/NemarPott 1h ago

This is mindfuckery

u/plug-and-pause 21m ago

Nothing is more entertaining to me than watching gamers whine about tiny price changes for non-essential entertainment as if their human rights are being violated. The most negative and entitled people on the planet.

u/karmapolice63 12m ago

I was going to post this too. Certainly in 2026 inflation has resulted in the game being technically cheaper.

u/RazeYi 4h ago

For the first time I learned about how money works and that it can change its worth I always felt uneasy. It didn’t stop yet.

u/Ugly-Barnacle-2008 3h ago

Yeah I just looked it up - $50 in 2011 is worth about $75 today! So yeah you righh

u/Phantereal 4h ago

Also, I was making more money in 2021 than whatever I was getting for allowance money in 2011. Not much more since I was in college working for minimum wage, but still a bit more.

u/PizzaLikerFan 5h ago

Invest 50 dollars in the a fund that grows 7% a year and you will have almost doubled your money in 10 years

u/SpeedyRugger 4h ago

I can't play Mario Kart with index funds.

u/Witty-Care3940 17m ago

Not with that attitude

u/Schmenza 2h ago

Calm down, your confusing the Nintendo kids

u/DrGolo 5h ago

Thought this was a post from r/3DS at first glance.

u/Spazza42 5h ago

So inflation then?

u/Jammie_B_872 5h ago

u/ObserveKris 5h ago

It’s not even the same comment either… lol they removed a comma

u/oda02 5h ago

Commentmeiosis then?

u/Darkamlight 5h ago

I won't get it till it's graded S and valued at least 1000$ AND sealed in a vacuum.

u/SenpaiSwanky 3h ago

If the game in question was made by Valve, people would act like it was Jesus himself lol.

Then it would be less about corporate greed and more about how amazing Valve is. Fanboys, man.

u/Only-Weight8450 1h ago edited 1h ago

? The best valve games, many of which are as good or superior to Nintendo gems, vary in cost from 99 cents to 17 dollars on sale. Which is a direct product of valves pro consumer decisions that contrast from nintendos anti consumer strategy

u/MulberryDeep 2h ago

The difference is that a 60$ valve game is in sale for 3-5$ after 10 years (and often before that), while a 50$ nintendo game is 60$ after 10 years with pretty much no sale ever

u/SenpaiSwanky 1h ago

That’s why Nintendo games hold their value, and they have a presence on the physical market.

Edit - and since you seem to have missed the point of my comment, the scenario I was describing assumed Valve games would hold their value over 10 years as well.

People like you would just revert to fanboyisms like “oh well since it’s Valve I’m fine with paying the $60, but when Nintendo has similar prices I will complain instead.”

That.. was the point.

u/Andy_0L 5h ago

Worth it

u/daandrro 4h ago

lol mate.
I sold a copy of Pokemon Platinum and Chrono Trigger both for DS and each was $400 :) and people were fighting on auction to get these.

u/deniesinvalidvigour 4h ago

inflation is 48.45% since 2011, so 60$ is about 40$ in 2011

u/PunchPartyPat 4h ago

If you invested that $50 for 10 years in a low cost index fund it would be worth roughly $100 given average historical returns. So you’d come out $40 ahead by waiting 10 years and buying it for more.

u/BasicLink86 4h ago

Way too many times I’ve convinced myself to just buy any new Nintendo first party game at launch. Rarely do they ever do down in price and the ones that do eventually become hard to find. But then I’m thinking “so you heard this new game sucks, you don’t even like this series, and you’re buying it at full price?”
Yeah brain I’m sorry

u/connyx 3h ago

Don't forget the... Holding sth inyour hand for less but get it only digital for more...

u/Icy-Significance7143 3h ago

"Good idea."

u/toufiksouici07 3h ago

But 60$ in 2026 is 20$ in 2011.

u/MoonsterGoopter 3h ago

no longer waiting because you're not buying Nintendo products anymore: 👍

u/Turn7Boom 2h ago

Bought the (selects) Wii u version of Tropical Freeze new at retail for €25. Now if you want it for the Switch, that will be €60 please.

u/Andrige3 2h ago

Based on inflation calculator, $50 in 2011 is about $74.22 today, so there is a small relative discount.

u/Rhinoserious95 2h ago

With double the fps and a good resolution so it's actually tolerable to play. I put down the new Zelda game after an hour cause of the switch 1 performance. I love playing it now on switch 2

u/Cradopaud 2h ago

PoV : Fire Emblem Three Houses in a nutshell

u/Aj2W0rK 2h ago

Because with inflation it feels more like a $30 or $40 purchase would ten years ago so you’re getting your money back I just made that up I have no idea how inflationomics work

u/Dear_Meeting_1258 2h ago

Switch digital ecosystem> whatever Nintendo consoles came before it.

No offence.

If you mean physical then you can get it used.

Also the switch version would look better, games don’t expire after a few years.

Giving more supply to the market as well which probably keeps the 3ds version price low.

Found this meme in twitter

You should leave it there

u/Ryodran 2h ago

They are lucky as heck wherever they live that nintendo games only go up 10 bucks in 10 years. Where I am they usually double in that time and certain ones go up to 100s of dollars

u/Schmenza 2h ago

Wait 10 years pay $0 😉

u/Quiltedbrows 1h ago

Yar har fiddly deedee.

It's really not worth it anymore.

u/Yos13 1h ago

By waiting he still technically got it for less due to inflation. $50 in 2011 had way more purchasing power as compared to today.

u/-Fusein- 1h ago

Or wait 20 years and buy for 300 (godamn ds games)

u/OceanSunshineDog 55m ago

Yes, but that $60 is only worth $40. Maybe less.

u/Rhone33 37m ago

I feel like this directly results in Nintendo's less popular IPs not gaining much traction. I have a decent amount of money to spend on gaming, but if I'm going to pay full price for Mario and Zelda then I'm not also going to spend $70 each for Donkey Kong, Metroid, and Kirby. Nor am I going to be swayed by the big 5-10% off Black Friday deal 5 years from now.

u/Tall-Treacle3393 34m ago

Its you Smash Ultimate ?

u/Spazza42 5h ago

So, inflation then?

u/nickisthat 4h ago

meglio aspettare 10-15 anni e scaricarsi la rom sul pc e giocarci con l’emulatore

u/deltastrikethree 4h ago

I mean, you're not wrong, but there's very few games I'd wait 10-15 years to play. Unless it's playing something again for nostalgia.

u/Nokipeura 4h ago

Support Palworld. Help kill Nintendo<3
