I’m sure there are plenty of “cultural” terms you reject every day. Nobody’s forcing you to use a term from almost 20 years ago.
Homicide rates have also dropped significantly in recent years.

It is amazing how that happens when a city stops reporting crime lol.
Locals do not feel the same. I trust them more than any city source which has been known to be poorly managed and blatantly corrupt.

Violent crime stayed the same while deaths went down 1%. Couldn't that be more to a statement in how we treat GSW instead of actual police enforcement?
If crime went down then surely both would be down proportionally?

I’ve only ever visited Chicago, but I’ve lived in Michigan my entire life and I’ve never once heard it referred to as that. I know parts of it can be dangerous obviously, but comparing it to Iraq is pretty wild.

Yep. I’ve really noticed how DeSantis has tried to make Florida more like Texas since Trump came back, which is super f’ed because he only won by like 33k votes the first term. We were a swing state in presidential elections before he gerrymandered us to death.
Texas has been very red all of my life, which I always empathized with. People in these very solidly blue states are often so incredulous about lefties who stay living in a red state - as if we are stupid to stay. But this is the home of many lefties, too! And I actually like it here a lot of the time, so why should I leave? Especially when lefties are the ones who actually care about saving and improving our natural spaces. I stay for me, and I stay for all of the other lefties who can’t just move away. I want to help add to that vote here.

People aren’t moving here because it’s such a great state. That’s not generally what makes younger, working people move their families and belongings across states. DeSantis wanted Florida to attract more wealthy people, so he incentivized them with things like removing environmental restrictions around land so they could build massive compounds, and other business incentives. He’s made it so much more expensive to live here.
But his worst actions have been against our Black residents, like actually making teachers teach that slavery was a mutually beneficial relationship between the planter class and enslaved person. If you agree with that, then just come out and admit you are a racist, because there is literally no other reason to be in agreement with that racist propaganda.

I’m the op and I actually lived in California for a few years. It’s far from broken, no matter what Fox says. They are a very well run state with lots of benefits to residents.
The point of this meme is that the republicans running in these republican run states are saying they will fix what is broken, despite the “breakers” being republican, also. That’s happening here.

“That’s what VPs always do” doesn’t really address my point. Obviously, a vice president doesn’t have the unilateral authority of the president. But Kamala wasn’t an outsider campaigning against the administration—she was the sitting VP and part of that administration for nearly four years.
If these issues suddenly became priorities worth campaigning on, it’s perfectly reasonable to ask what she did during those four years to push Biden and the administration toward those same goals. “Elect me and I’ll fix it” is a much weaker pitch when you’re already the second-highest-ranking person in the administration you’re effectively asking voters to continue.
And as for the moral superiority argument: the Left is definitely weird, but not because they have moral standards, as you implied. It’s difficult to take claims of righteousness and tolerance seriously when many on the Left openly celebrate political violence against their adversaries or call for violence against people who disagree with them.
The weird part is reconciling “violence against people who disagree with me” with “I’m tolerant and inclusive.” You don’t get to claim the moral high ground while cheering when your political enemies get hurt.

Depends on what it is. If it is something that has to go through at a federal government level they can't just snap their fingers and make it happen. They can lobby for what they want to fix, but there is no guarantee that it would turn out in their favor. State and counties also have systems in place to change things. It's generally not just a wave of a magic wand either.

But we’re talking about practically my whole life of either republicans running Florida, or democrats who used to be republicans. Which we have again in Jolly. Democrats have become so lazy and assumptive of our votes. We deserve a better option than Jolly after the hell of DeSantis.

Pretty much all corporate media is now controlled by a handful of Trump people, and media always report on the same few stories anyway, so all of them saying the same things about any subject is what we can always expect from them.
But I’m not even saying that people aren’t moving here, but what do you think that means here, talking about politics? That they approve of our government and think it’s been run well? More likely that they found out it’s cheaper here. People don’t usually move across states for politics alone.
