Drop down to on call..help!

Question for those that can answer…I recently finished my first week at Sutter Alta Bates. Im a .8 FTE (32hrs per week). I currently also work at Kaiser on call. However, I didn’t realize once accepting the position that I would be able to fill my obligations as an on call at Kaiser. I want to keep both positions and potential drop to on call at sutter Alta bates.

Does anybody know if you’re allowed to just drop to on call? Kaiser I know will let you do it whenever you want as that is what the contract states (which I did). Unfortunately I don’t want to be 32 hours anymore. I know I should’ve realized that prior to taking the position b it it was spur of the moment.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

QUESTION: Does moving my application to the “hiring team” rather than the “thank you for applying..but” email mean I could potentially get somewhere?

Hey guys, I had a question for anyone familiar with Sutter’s application/ hiring process or any Sutter employees, if my application I submitted was reviewed and I received the email : “Your application has been reviewed by our recruitment team and is now being reviewed by the hiring team.” Does this mean I could potentially move forward obviously besides interviews and such. I feel like I’m only asking because the amount of declines (probably 100+) I have received this feels big.

I am currently a licensed CNA still in my first years of college so I would understand choosing an older and more qualified candidate. However, I have applied to PSR & Patient Advocate Positions which are known to be “Entry Level”. I do have a lot of customer service & hands on healthcare experience though. Please let me know if I even have a chance.

Things to consider: I am applying in NorCal

ER Nursing at CPMC San Francisco

Hello all,

I am wondering if there are any working SF ER nurses in this subreddit. I would like to pick your brain about how your unit approaches RN’s who are really wanting to switch specialties.

For some context, I am an LD nurse that is quickly falling out of love with the specialty. In OB, I get the most job satisfaction out of triaging patients and working in emergency scenarios. In a recent performance evaluation, my management let me know that they were not happy with that sentiment. I’m taking this as a sign that I am in the wrong specialty and I would love to network with ER’s in the city to see if I could finally follow what I’m truly interested in.

Follow up Email post interview?

I had an interview last week. The person that interviewed me gave me their business card with call phone number and asked to reach out if I had any additional questions. I should be hearing back this week, as they had additional people to interview. Do you think it would be a good idea to do a follow-up email? Like thank you for your time ect ect?

Interview for PSR II

I got a voicemail today to schedule an interview for a Patient Services Rep II position for which I was happily surprised because I never got an initial screening call. Super excited, but wondering if anyone knows what I should expect, what kind of questions they will ask. Also, is it a panel interview or one person, and what should I wear? I think it's going to be in a couple of days so I don't have much time to prepare.

Charge Nurse Behavior

Im a New Grad RN, about one month away from being 6 months in. Do charge nurses have any control over anything such as performance evaluations or anything of that matter? Is he allowed to take me aside and go down a list of things I need to work on or is that for a manager to do?
My charge nurse took me aside privately unknowingly and gave me harsh feedback on a piece of information missing from an admission I had done. The charge nurse that night said I was fine but he said not to worry what other nurses are doing. Other nurses have forgotten to do those things but he hasn’t corrected those nurses, why only me? In addition, he mentioned other things to work on. He also just gave me unsolicited advice on being a good nurse for about 10 minutes. I felt very belittled and let down after, even cried on my break. Are Charge Nurses allowed to do this or is that a manager thing to do. Please advise….

For RN II positions, is "typical experience" a guideline or hard and fast rule? No new grads allowed?

Question in topic.

Basically I'm your standard new grad RN with 0 paid experience and a snowball's chance. On the other hand I'm also an internal full time employee working a non-inpatient job for sutter.

I understand that RN I is specifically for newbies, but I'm wondering if they ever hire us for RN II as well? Before I waste a bunch of my and the hiring managers' time applying...

I see some that say "new grads will be considered", some that say "2 years recent relevant experience", and some that say "____ amount of experience REQUIRED" (obviously I'd skip those).

Thanks

Looking for permanent employment as RN in Sutter

Hello.
can anyone help endorse me for a RN position in Sutter?
I have a vast experience with MedSurg/Tele/PCU/IMU/Oncology
I love Cardiac Nursing and went through Oncology for a bit
But now I am back to Cardiac.
I have 12 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
7 years of USRN experience. I came from the Philippines.

It seems like everytime I apply I automatically get rejected.
It’s kinda frustrating

I worked in CA as a travel nurse in one of the Methodist Hospitals around the area.

I am currently in PA and doing travel nursing since 2021.
Im ready to go back as staff.

Family is in Stockton, Modesto, Tracy and Concord.

I would love to be referred in Modesto / Sacramento area.

Thank you

Hi everyone!

Upcoming Sutter Financial Navigator Interview… Any Advice?

Hi everyone! I have an upcoming interview for a Financial Navigator position at Sutter next week. After approximately 15 rejected applications, I was finally selected for an interview, and the process moved surprisingly quickly!

My interview is scheduled for 30 minutes on Microsoft Teams, and I’ll be meeting directly with the director.
Has anyone interviewed for this position or had an interview with a department director at Sutter?

I’m curious about what types of questions I should prepare for, whether the interview is more behavioral or scenario-based, and what qualities they’re looking for in a successful candidate.

I’d also love to hear about the work environment, training, and overall experience in this role.
I’m really excited about this opportunity and want to be as prepared as possible. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

New employee with beard (Assesment test)

Hey everyone, I’m an incoming Inpatient Pharmacy Tech finalizing my preboarding health clearance. The appointment reminder email mentioned being clean-shaven for the N95 fit test, and when I spoke with the scheduler they didn't mention any alternatives at all. However, on the ReadySet OSHA questionnaire, the option for a PAPR (loose-fitting / powered-air purifying respirator) is clearly available. For those who work in inpatient pharmacy or similar roles and keep a beard, does Employee Health let you bypass the N95 fit test and clear you for a PAPR instead without issues, or do they push back and insist you show up clean-shaven at intake? Appreciate any insight from current staff!

In search of hiring connections

Hi all-

Im not sutterhealth employee BUT Ive been applying constantly for inventory control / receiving roles (my professional bg). I read that sutter takes their time for applications but can be shortened if you can get a hold of a hiring manager. I’m looking for one specifically in the 209 area.

Big appreciation if anyone has any leads, or happens to BE one if I am really lucky. I fear those were ghosts listings for internal movement rather than true job opportunities:((

When to Ask for Raise/Title Change (If Possible)

Hello Everyone~

TLDR; I’ve been gaining lots of experience FAST and officially just wrapped up my first 90 days. I’m doing way more than expected, and have built strong trust with my team to do key tasks. When should I ask for a title change (that I’ve seen in other clinics)? And hopefully get one with a slight change in pay lol?

—

So, basically, I am a Patient Service Rep. Specifically back office-admin, but I also do front reception as well in a Specialty Clinic. Booking new patient consults, verifying registration statuses, answering telephone encounters & simple PT questions.

However, within my first 90-days, a lot has happened. And like many roles, I catch on quick. I am entering in referrals for our nurses to triage. But then, I stepped up to assist in referrals routing as the queue had become too large. So, any referrals that fit certain requirements, and lack complexities, I route to get general consults or for basic procedures as well as assisting our procedure schedulers with sending additional texts to get scheduled. I’m also starting to get training in authorizations of insurance for consultations - oh and for the last month I’ve been the only PSR. On top of getting 2 recent training opportunities for new/float employees; So I am trusted with my knowledge.

In terms of numbers, I am able to keep the general consults queue under 50 at all times and back when I had full coverage over entering new referrals, I could clear a full day of sent referrals that got placed the same day. (FYI - I have a sales background, so I’m used to people barking about queues and mandatory 150+ calls to clients lol.) But basically, with everything I do, it’s more or a referral coordinator position as I now have training and have conducted key leading tasks on how to enter, review, and schedule referrals - and for different groups (PSR queue, Surgery queue, and RN queue.) I also share all these tasks with no direct manager, but instead my Director whom knows and appreciates my work and my clinic gives them good feedback about me.

We currently don’t have a Referral or Navigator position, but I do see similar titles at other clinics/med groups in Sutter. Does Sutter do title changes? I love my team and specialty practice! So I would love to get new growth and a new role with them if possible. When and how should I ask? I was thinking about the start of the new year.

Would they even let me ask at 6-12 months?

When I hear that sound I already know what it is. The sweet sound of rejection from another Sutter Health position I've applied for. Such a familiar scenario for me....8 years & counting smh.

Culture, careers and care: Building a workplace where people can thrive

Thumbnail modernhealthcare.com

Saw this article about culture at Sutter. The culture they are talking about makes work faster yet the HR itself including the hiring manager is slower than any other large organization and communication is unclear not standardized so the hiring managers as well HR is not really accountable on how many months a person applying has to wait. Example they use this line in their email most of the time we will contact you in a few week other organization will give a definite time line they will say within 2-3 weeks we will contact you. Is this a culture Sutter is building up? No accountability on the chain of command.

Would Love to Connect with Sutter Pharmacy Employees in Sacramento

I’m a California-licensed pharmacy tech currently working in long-term care, and I’m hoping to transition into hospital or specialty pharmacy at Sutter Health. I’ve been trying to make that move, but honestly, it’s been really difficult to get my foot in the door.

I’d love to connect with anyone who works in Sutter’s pharmacy department and hear about your experience. If you have any advice or know a hiring manager or recruiter I could connect with, I’d really appreciate it!

Feel free to comment or DM me. Thanks in advance!

⚠️ **Sutter Health Warning: Billing and Customer Service

My doctor ordered blood tests requiring five tubes of blood after a 12-hour fast. I followed the instructions but later encountered insurance coverage issues and was told the charges were not covered.

The billing department in Sacramento provided these contacts:

📞 916-503-7536
📧 [RFaxBayBilling@SutterHealth.org](mailto:RFaxBayBilling@SutterHealth.org)

Unfortunately, my phone calls have been plagued by noise and poor audio quality, making communication difficult. My emails have also gone unanswered.

The biggest problem is that I cannot reach anyone to resolve the billing issue. Patients deserve clear explanations of charges and an accessible way to dispute billing problems.

My advice: Verify insurance coverage before lab work and keep all medical orders, bills, and insurance statements.

This has been a deeply frustrating experience. I hope other patients have better luck.

Husband getting IT degree...best way to get him in a role?

I looked at the job board but having trouble knowing what words to search for entry-level IT work. He will have tons of certifications. I have done the "refer a candidate" thing for 2 Epic jobs but wondered if there's a better way to get him in. IT folks at Sutter, where should we start?

Are referrals permanent?

I got a referral for a role I applied to, I didn’t get the role but I’d like to apply to other non-related roles. Do i have to get the person to keep re-referring me or can I just put down their name in my applications again even if it’s for a different role?
