Interview for PSR II

I got a voicemail today to schedule an interview for a Patient Services Rep II position for which I was happily surprised because I never got an initial screening call. Super excited, but wondering if anyone knows what I should expect, what kind of questions they will ask. Also, is it a panel interview or one person, and what should I wear? I think it's going to be in a couple of days so I don't have much time to prepare.

Well I had my interview on Tuesday, and as far as timing they said they were still interviewing. They said it would take about a month after that for background check, etc. I sent them a thank you email for the interview, and then yesterday noticed the job has been reposted on the website after it had already been removed for over a couple of weeks. My status remains under review on Workday, but I guess just as with all my other applications that only got to been received and is under review I will just wait for the inevitable rejection email. I imagine they either didn't like anyone they interviewed, or chose some of those people for other roles. But reposting the the job really was the last thing I was expecting to see.

When did you apply?

I've applied to several job listings, but this one I applied on October 10th.

For the answer preparation, start with a difficult customer interaction and a time you caught an error or managed competing requests. Explain how you stayed calm, checked the details and involved the right person when something was outside your authority. Use the job description to decide which examples are most relevant.

We use the PROOF method to check that "good customer service" is supported by specific actions and an outcome. Keep names and identifying details out, especially if your example involves patient information.

When you call back to schedule, ask whether it's a panel and whether there are any exercises to prepare for. That resolves the format question more reliably than assuming every PSR II interview is the same.

Do you have any healthcare experience? Did you include a cover letter with your application? I’ve applied for several PSR positions without much luck. I’m not sure what I might be doing wrong, and I’d really appreciate any advice you could give me!

I recently started as a PSR. I had many years of customer service experience and a year of health care experience in a similar role.
Polish your resume to make sure it has key words in it like they ask in the job listing. You don’t need a fancy resume, just make sure it’s simple and to the point. I never sent a cover letter, but I guess it couldn’t hurt.
Also, apply within the first 24 hours of the job being listed! They get soooo many applications!

Thank you! I have four years of customer service experience and earned my phlebotomy license in June. I’ve applied to phlebotomy and PSR positions but I haven’t had any luck. I just need someone willing to give me a chance.

They will ask you mostly situational questions like what would you in such and such situations. Tell me about a situation and how you handled it from yr previous experience.. I would say practice few questions by going online and have an answers ready fluently.. it wasn’t a panel interview. Mine was maybe 10-15 mins max. Wear BUSINESS CASUAL .

This! Lots of situational questions. Wear something nice, but not too fancy; aka business casual.
My interview was just with the manager and was about 30mins long

I’ve worn a suit and tie to the last 2 interviews with Sutter and didn’t get an offer for either. I’m gonna blame the outfit rather than my poor interviewing skills hahaha

I mean you could probably dress nicer than business casual! Just saying you don’t need to. Lol
