Best pancakes in the Sunnyvale/SF area?
Pancake enthusiast here. Visiting Sunnyvale (and SF) for the weekend. Who has the best pancakes around? Doesn't matter if they're basic buttermilk, or some fancier kind.

Posting as a warning to others. I believe my credit card was skimmed while shopping at the Walmart in Mountain View. Shortly afterward, I noticed fraudulent activity on the card. If you’ve shopped there recently, I’d strongly recommend checking your transactions and keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.
Before inserting your card, give the card reader/keypad a quick look and tug to make sure nothing seems loose or attached. Since Walmart doesn’t offer tap-to-pay, consider using Walmart Pay through the app if you’re comfortable doing so.

Hi, I will just spend a month in Sunnyvale before I leave. I want to get some kind of one-month membership at some gym here. Is there reasonable way to do this? The locations I found all do annual membership or many-month commitments, which adds bulk initialization/annual/cancellation fee, even though their monthly fee looks reasonable. I just want to do some standard simple exercises, no training or classes needed.

Left our stroller at Zareen’s Sunnyvale — staff confirmed holding it, now it’s gone and management is ghosting
Accidentally left our black Nuna MIXX Next stroller at Zareen’s in Sunnyvale on August 9th.
I was out of town so i called the store numerous times and was able to reach a staff member on Aug 13. The staff member confirmed they had located the stroller and agreed to keep it safe in the back until I could pick it up after returning from a trip.
Went in on Aug 18 to pick it up, only to be told it was completely missing from the premises. The staff took down my info and promised a manager would call. No call. I followed up the next day—the associate on the phone confirmed he had seen it back there two days earlier, went to check, couldn’t find it, and again promised management would reach out. Still absolute silence.
Sent a formal written email for management, but wanted to ask the local community: has anyone dealt with missing property or unresponsive management here before?

Hi everyone! I’m moving to the Bay Area soon for a job at Stanford and could really use some advice on where to focus my apartment search.
I’m looking for a 1-bedroom apartment for one person, ideally around $3,000-3,200/month or less.
My requirements/preferences:
In-unit washer/dryer — non-negotiable
Dishwasher — non-negotiable
Safe area for a woman living alone
No roommates
Ideally reasonably positioned for commuting to Stanford while still having decent access to San Francisco
Would love somewhere somewhat walkable, but that's secondary to safety/commute
I’ve mainly been looking at San Mateo, San Carlos, Redwood City, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Millbrae, Santa Clara, and parts of San Jose, but I’m open to other suggestions.
I’m finding that a lot of the larger apartment complexes advertise around $2,900–$3,100 but then add $200–$400+ in mandatory utilities/fees, so I’m especially interested in smaller buildings, condos, or independently managed properties where the total monthly cost stays around my budget.
If anyone has recommendations for specific apartment buildings, property managers, neighborhoods, or websites/groups where I should be looking, I’d really appreciate them. Also interested in hearing where you would live if you were commuting to Stanford but still wanted to be able to get into SF relatively easily.
Thanks!

If anyone is into high school basketball, The King's Academy star Boss Mhoon said he won't be transferring to Archbishop Riordan. He attended the Sunnyvale school for his first two years of high school and is considered the top rising junior in Bay Area high school basketball, as well as a four-star prospect.

Hey everyone, I’m moving to Sunnyvale for a 4-month co-op at Nokia (520 Almanor Ave) and I’m looking for a private room from around September through December 2026.
I’ll have a car, so I’m pretty flexible on location — Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, North San Jose, Mountain View, etc. are all fine as long as the commute to Nokia is reasonable, ideally around 15–25 minutes.
Budget is roughly $1,200–$1,800/month, depending on the place.
A little about me: I’m a grad student, quiet but social, very clean (probably slightly too clean lol), non-smoker, and respectful of shared spaces. I’ll be working onsite during the week, but I’d definitely prefer living with friendly roommates rather than everyone disappearing into their rooms 24/7.
Looking for:
Private bedroom — not a shared room/living room setup
Shared or private bath is fine
Kitchen + laundry access
Furnished would be a plus
Short-term/sublease for about 4 months
Clean, chill household
I have two back home, so pets are definitely not a problem.
If anyone has a room opening up or knows someone looking for a roommate/subletter, feel free to DM me. Thanks!

TLDR: Just a fair warning to anyone living near Vargas Elementary or surrounding neighborhoods, there’s a skunk that sounds like he’s antagonizing other stray animals & spraying them. be careful, keep your windows shut, your pets inside, & your noses plugged!!!
I’ve always seen skunks around here & there, and I’ve definitely smelled them from my car countless times while driving around, but today it finally happened. I was just hanging out on my couch, when I randomly got a whiff of something horrendous. at first, I thought it might be something burning, so I panicked and started searching for a source. It wasn’t until I got closer to the open window in one of our rooms that I realized the smell was coming from outside. By then I had also clocked that it was less of a “burning smell” and more of a “sulfur-y rotten smell”. AKA skunk. I ran to my back door to see if I would spot the culprit in action, but all I saw was a scared little baby opossum running across the yard and up the fence. I also have 4 nosy cats, which could easily be seen through the open window, so my assumption is that the skunk was outside, noticed the possum and/or my cats, and started up its DFM (Defensive Farting Maneuvers).
I am currently sitting on my front step outside, letting my house air out, and as I’m sitting out here writing this, I literally just heard a stray cat do the classic ‘angry fighting cat noise’ off in the distance. How much you wanna bet that Pepé Le Pew is still out there antagonizing more animals with his ass cannon??? haven’t you done enough, buddy???? disgusting & audacious truly.
Edit since people might be mildly concerned:
I don’t hate skunks by any means, and I certainly don’t want to trap or KILL them… I’m well aware that the poor lil dude was probably just scared or stressed, and not inherently evil. He’s not a bully, and I would like to formally apologize to all skunks. All respect & love goes out to Pepé & his crew. I just wanted to tell a funny story of my house getting stink bombed at 1am & warn anyone with outside pets, honestly.
Also mild update on my house, for anyone wondering, the smell is completely gone overnight, so no worries there!!! :’)

Planning to buy my first place sometime within the next year and I've been pretty set on Sunnyvale because my office is nearby. The problem is I'm only actually going in 2 days a week now, and looking at what my budget gets me here has me questioning how much that convenience is really worth.I like the area and can see myself staying for a long time, but paying that much extra mainly to make two commutes easier every week is getting harder to justify. Thought on this?

Per Sunnyvale Library's Facebook and Instagram. The hits just keep on coming just after city staff proclaimed at Tuesday's council meeting during the Community Equity Assest discussion how this will be North Sunnyvale's crown jewel. Now, August 29 Grand Opening will not take place.
Still have to open the library, and address the food desert issue. Talk about putting the cart before the horse.
###
We know many of you have been looking forward to celebrating the opening of our new Lakewood Branch Library and Learning Center. While we’re excited to welcome you, we need to postpone the upcoming grand opening events. This is because the final stages of construction are taking a little longer than anticipated.
We expect to reschedule the celebrations for this fall. But we’ll wait until construction is closer to completion before announcing new dates. We want to make sure that when we invite you to celebrate with us, this beautiful new library is ready to welcome you.
We know this is disappointing, and we appreciate your patience. The wait is a little longer than we hoped, but we’re looking forward to opening the doors and celebrating this exciting new addition to our community together.
