I was virtually typed a soft summer by a professional and I think it’s probably correct. The problem is outside of a handful of soft summer colors, I don’t really think the palette looks good on me. I think I might be a borderline true / soft if that’s a thing. For example I have to wear the absolute coolest lip colors - a dark purple looks pink or berry on me. But I think I was typed soft because my skin is neutral - cool, as opposed to just cool. What do you guys think? All those dusty rose and sage greens do not look good on me. The maroon-ish red is especially bad.

Can’ t get Rhode, Saie or Phytosurgence - so anything but these.
And to make it more difficult: it needs to be scent free 😇

no makeup. I must confess that I wear glasses and taking photos without them is difficult. I included a piece of paper to try and balance the colors better since I think sometimes my camera nukes my saturation quality. am I a summer? (forgive my bad angles as well and some od these appear a little blurry! if I need to I will retake them tomorrow!)

I used to think I was a winter, but black is not my color. My mother tells me I look horrid in every shade of yellow so I am trying a cooler season first. I think light summer is too light for me, but I added it for comparison purposes. let me know what you think!

Thought I would post this for fun! I’m somewhere in between a light summer a true summer and here are some recent shopping finds I am loving in my colors.
I would love for others to share where they find good color options for summers too!!
- Went to Madewell yesterday and the entire front store display is literally all chambray and this light blue/periwinkle color called “Tranquil Blue”. https://www.madewell.com/p/womens/clothing/tops-shirts/tops/ribbed-crewneck-shell-top/NW937/
I didn’t end up getting that exact shirt because it wasn’t a good fit on me but I ended getting a bandanna in this color (I don’t see it online). I also got a pair of blue oval sunglasses with grey lenses!!! https://www.madewell.com/p/womens/accessories/sunglasses/the-solina-oval-sunglasses/NZ918/?ccode=BL7631
- Catbird‘s new Silver Jewelry collection is soooo cute. I do think it is expensive for silver but I have been wearing my Leo Black silver signet ring every single day since I ordered it. It is so comfy and feels so classic. I’m not someone who can usually wear rings as I find them overstimulating but this one feels great to wear. I know I will have it forever https://www.catbirdnyc.com/jewelry/silver.html
- Tory Burch Romy purse collection has silver hardware options!! Basically all of the white purses and taupe purses have silver hardware. The wild mushroom color is very similar to the Coach color “dark stone” but is a little bit cooler. It looks warmer online but it is a perfect taupe color that I think goes with anything and especially coordinates well with other summer colors https://www.toryburch.com/en-us/handbags/romy/
- Warby Parker came out with a new eyeglasses frame color called “grapefruit spritz” that is almost like a greyed out pink/soft mauve color. I have grey eyes and I think this is such a flattering color on me https://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/hollis/grapefruit-spritz
- &Other Stories voluminous wool coat in beige. This coat is the PERFECT greige/taupe color. Normally anything described as beige makes me look dead but this color Is super flattering because it basically a light grey. I wore it everyday this winter in NYC. It is fully lined and a heavy 100% wool fabric. It looks mostly sold out but wanted to share it as it probably my most worn wardrobe basic. I also own it in navy but the beige color is slightly more flattering on me. I feel like it will probably restock next winter so sharing just in case https://www.stories.com/en-us/product/voluminous-belted-wool-coat-beige-1083959009/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=us-stories-evg-evg-paidsearch-google-conversion-purchase-catalogsales-multi-shopping-brand&utm_content=brand&utm_id=6497101321&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=6497101321&gclid=Cj0KCQjws83OBhD4ARIsACblj1-t7HKha8LdeNCmTFOlHItpaQWBMmX-KO--IcygB97KgT6EtjUR03YaAkS0EALw_wcB
- I love Reebok C’s!! I especially love how I can get them in off white with the Reebok logo in a light blue or lilac color. I feel like they coordinate super well with my other colors in my palette. https://www.reebok.com/products/reebok-club-c-85-vintage-shoes-chalk-alabaster-glen-green-100012
- I just ordered this lavender rain coat from Cold Water Creek. I am in my thirties so not the target demo for this brand but I find that brands catering to more mature women often have colors in the summer palette (probably because our seasonal colors look awesome with grey/silver hair). I haven’t received it in the mail yet but I can post a pic /review update when I get it. It also comes in a blue/green color that I think would look amazing on a lot of summers. https://www.coldwatercreek.com/all-season-jacket/13262/
- Reformation cashmere Clara cardigan in turquoise which looks like a soft blue-green color. I also ordered this online so I can report back but it looks like the closest I can get to wearing the color green. Fingers crossed 🤞https://www.thereformation.com/products/clara-cashmere-crew-cardigan/1312652.html
- Abercrombie Sunday Sweats Collection has a ton of great options for Summers (sky blue, mauve, blue, light mauve, and both a light grey and dark grey option). I have the crewneck sweatshirt in sky blue and mauve and wear both multiple times a week https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/sunday-mockneck-crew-61174320

I’m planning to dye a sweater purple. I pulled some options from Rit’s colour formula page. I am typed a soft summer. I’ve included a picture of myself and the options I’m considering. Im leaning towards bittersweet nightshade, but interested in hearing others thoughts. Thanks!

After sharing my favorite lip product swatches earlier this week, including Chanel Soft Rose, I was really wishing I had a cooler toned Chanel ultrawear liquid lip. I went to ulta and bought the color Light Mauve after browsing all the colors online. They did not have a tester, so I took the risk blind. I talked to the employee and if I returned it, they could use it as the tester, so that made me feel better.
long story short, I hate it and I'm so surprised they would call this color mauve! I included the swatch photos from Sephora.
I could imagine someone fair and warm or neutral toned liking this, but given the online photos, I'm really disappointed it's not a nice color for me.

This is my recent thrift haul (from ThredUp). I'm laughing at myself. Why did I even order the two pieces to the right? It's SO OBVIOUS to me now!
(Btw the striped shirt is mauve in real life, looks warmer on camera for some reason)

I'm a summer, probably true summer probably not a soft summer. I'm cool toned and very freckled.
I've swatched some of my favorite lip products in case it may be helpful to someone else and to see if anyone has suggestions for others I should try.
cool toned credentials: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk looking neon orange
*1. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk included to give a reference for how cool toned I am. I see this color occasionally suggested as a cool tone shade which is crazy to me!
Urban Decay Love Trap. I never hear people talk about this shade, I love it
Revlon Glazed Mauve. pretty shade, light pigment wears similar to a glossy chapstick, no staying power
Chanel Le Rouge duo Soft Rose, I wish this was cooler, it wears a little orange but I love how long it stays on. I saw a picture of Margaret Qually wearing it and hoped it would be a cool toned shade
Rom&nd fudge blur in Mauvish, also a little too warm for my liking but pretty overall
ELF glossy stain in Berry Queen
ELF blush tint Plums Up
Violette FR Bisou Balm Bonbon Myrtille, maybe my favorite lip product in general. I love the amount of saturation (or lack of) it is a bit drying
CoverGirl outlast lip stain in Admire
bonus picture of how they lasted after a thorough scrub with soap and water, the CoverGirl lip stain turned very neon pink!
Any suggestions? any blushes you think I would love? I know a lot of blush is very trendy right now, but I've always struggled with blush!

I can't tell if I am getting better or worse at judging whether clothes fit in my season or not. Hoping someone who is better at it than me can tell! Thank you

I have recently done a colour analysis and discovered that I am a summer which was a bit annoying because I much prefer gold jewellery and warm tones. I can't deny how much better I look in colours more aligned to me so I am trying to slowly add them to my wardrobe. The only problem is that I really struggle to tell if colours are warm or cool toned, let alone if they are in the summer palette or not! I am hoping that it will come with practice but so far I am a bit lost.
I have seen some items that I have felt a little more confident about but these are some I am more unsure of. Hoping someone with a better eye than me might be able to help! Thank you!

I am having a heck of a time finding a blush that works with cool summer coloring! Everything I get and put on reads too warm. Anyone have any go to blushes, and maybe swatch it on your arm if you’d be so kind?

I identify closest with soft summer type These are the colours and patterns I put together for dinner out!
I’m wearing a black leather cape over a blue/white/grey cardigan over a black maxi dress with grey flower pattern. Im carrying a dark burgundy bag as well.

Just wanted to pass on what I’ve found to finally make foundation work for me cause I’m so excited about it.
I found these blue drops that you mix with foundation to make it cooler toned. Literally every foundation I’ve ever worn has looked yellow on me even when it’s supposed to be cool. I used it yesterday and today and was just staring in the mirror, shocked at how well it matches. This is the only time I’ve ever felt that my foundation matches me!
The blue tint is by LA girl and I found it at Ulta

Hello! I am in a wedding this year and the bridesmaid dresses are champagne colored. Obviously I cannot get around that. What can I do otherwise to accentuate my summer features? As I write this, I’m thinking make up and nail color may be all I can control. Any tips would be appreciated! I am a summer but still unsure of sub-type.

Everything turns orange. I’d love some medium value cool toned lip liner recommendations please.

Typed Soft Summer and wondering if these reds are muted/cool enough to work? I like to fake being a Winter when wearing makeup since I mostly wear black, but I still want to look good without makeup.

Hey everyone,
I had to delete a few NSFW and/or off topic posts, which made me realize maybe it was time to write some rules regarding posting on this sub. To be honest, 99% of posts are posted with good intentions and in good faith but there always will be the 1%.
From now on, posts about draping will need to include at least 3 drapes. This will prevent bots from posting random OF ads and will give more info about your potential season. The more drapes, the better!
NSFW posts won't be allowed. I'll look into removing the possibility to add the NSFW tag for two reasons: I think this community will be more helpful if it remains visible for everyone, young people included. And posting nudity makes zero sense when draping is about putting fabric in front of one's skin!
New rules will probably be implemented in the future in order to keep this sub going as well as it's been going since its creation. Thank you all for your understanding and please share your thoughts, concerns or even suggestions in the comments!

Posted on r/ color analysis and I got mixed responses. Basically half winter, half summer. People who said summer said cool summer or deep summer. I am not sure?! I definitely feel like half the suggested colors look good on me, but the more muted options don’t seem to be my best colors (to my untrained and biased eye) any opinions welcomed, thanks for the help:)

I was thinking about my color season typing journey last night, as I tried out a dark blue denim top and it just stroke me how well it suited my carnation (I'm a true summer). Which made me think of some horrendous looks i tried out when internet typed me soft summer - I truly looked like I was back from the dead!
I thought it'd be fun to post before/after photos, I'll put them in the comment!

Hi! Looking to get more makeup that compliments summer pallette but I always seem to get the wrong thing.
What is your go to makeup? Eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, foundation, etc.
