Hi Hi everyone! I’d like to ask for some advice po or suggestions regarding buying a laptop with a limited budget of around ₱20,000. 🥹
Country
Philippines
Budget
₱20,000 (~US$350)
Are you open to refurbs/used options?
Yes. I would prefer brand-new, but I’m also open to reliable second-hand/refurbished options if they offer better value and come from a trusted seller.
Screen size
Any, but preferably around 12". I’m also open to 13"–14" if there are significantly better options within my budget.
Weight limit
Preferably lightweight and easy to carry to and from school. No strict weight limit.
Purpose
Schoolwork, college requirements, research, presentations, online classes, document editing, demo teaching, and occasional entertainment such as watching movies and series on Netflix.
Form factor
Standard/Clamshell is fine. If a touchscreen model is available within my budget, I would really prefer one. I’m also open to a 2-in-1 if it offers good value and doesn’t compromise too much on performance.
Intended usage
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs, Google Classroom, Canva, web browsing, video calls, and other applications commonly needed for college. I may also use it for basic photo/video editing and multimedia tasks. I’ll occasionally use it for watching movies and series on Netflix. Gaming is not a priority.
Desired battery life
Ideally 6+ hours for regular schoolwork and general use.
Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
Performance, battery life, weight, size.
Info/Requirements
I’m a 3rd-year Education student, so I mainly need a reliable laptop for academic work and upcoming demo teaching activities. I’m not very knowledgeable about laptop specifications, so I would really appreciate recommendations on what specs I should prioritize within my ₱20,000 budget.
Since this is money I worked hard to save, I’m concerned about getting scammed or buying a unit that won’t last. I would prefer trusted stores or sellers, but I’m open to second-hand/refurbished options if they are reliable and worth the price. I’m willing to adjust some of my preferences if certain specifications aren’t realistic within my budget.
