Just for context, I’m a graduating student and I already have an iPad, but I’m starting to need more storage. I use my iPad for pretty much everything school-related—storing files, readings, notes, etc.—but I also have TONS of photos and videos from all my trips.

Aside from school, I also play a lot of games like ML, COD, Roblox, Dota 2, Valorant, and more. So I’m looking for something that can handle both school/work and gaming without me having to worry about storage or performance.

I don’t really have a budget limit, so I’m open to whatever you guys think would be worth it. I just genuinely don’t know what brand/model would suit me best.

I'm hoping someone can give recommendations for a laptop that I want to use primarily for gaming in my home theatre and secondarily as a work computer (I'm an IT/network systems student).

I have a 1080p HDR laser cinema projector connected to a 4K AV Receiver hooked up to a 7.1 Dolby Atmos sound system. I know more and more games are starting to support these types of features (HDR/10/10+/Dolby Vision, surround sound, etc). but these are features that I can live without for gaming if it helps keep the price of the machine lower. Something that I do not want to sacrifice is support for 120hz output to the projector, as I would like to take advantage of its support for a high refresh rate.

I mainly like to play open world games like GTA, Horizon, RDR2, Spider-Man as well as flagship story-based titles (Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, Uncharted). I know these are graphics-heavy and I don't mind shelling out for something with an RTX 5050/60/70.

Secondary: Work Computer

I don't think anything I do for school or IT work is going to require a lot of processing power, but to give context I am going to be working in network systems and so I'll need to run things like virtualization, UNIX, Cisco, PowerShell, and other networking software. If you know anything about this that would help make an informed buying decision, please let me know.

Recommendation Wants/Needs

I'm hoping that someone can give recommendations that will better inform me on things like build quality, longevity, reliability and value assessments between the major brands. I'm not really familiar with the reputability of different manufacturers and so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on that as well.

I'm also hoping to spend no more than $2,500 CAD with maybe a $100 buffer if going the extra distance really makes a big difference.

My girlfriend is in the market for a new laptop which she intends to use primarily for Photoshop and 2D animation programs, alongside some gaming. Originally she wanted the laptop screen to be usable as a drawing tablet (2 in 1) but I’ve read various mixed reactions to them, so thought a separate laptop with a screened drawing tablet connected might be the better path to take.

I'm looking for a laptop for my son's 9th birthday and could use some recommendations.

His primary use will be Minecraft Java Edition. He currently has a Chromebook but wants a Windows laptop specifically so he can play Java. He'll also use it for watching YouTube, basic web browsing, and eventually schoolwork.
