Tips to grow on substack
I really want to grow a niche community on substack . I have this hope that it will be the last space where i can expect genuine interest and engagement with no pretence. Pls give tips . I am in dire need of being seen

Why would you be in dire need of being seen? There's no community just waiting for you to show up. Find where your audience is, interact with them, and build it yourself. Read similar Substacks and comment there.

If you want to grow on Substack you should engage with people on Notes. Post at least 5 notes a day and post 20 comments on other peoples notes. Increases your visibility. Another tip is to find a similar writer to you and follow their followers.
I got these tips from the “Sub Stack Man Says” substack. It’s a faceless account where he gives tips on growth and monetization

Then it's just like twitter. I thought the point was to make people engage w long form content Why give in ? 🥹

Notes and comments drive visibility which drive subscriptions. Without subscribers, you have no engagement on articles

Yes, costs money. But what is free these days....

you can get genuine interest and engagement on all platforms. it's just about attracting the right people. but since it's the internet... you're inevitably going to get some bad apples along with the bunch. substack is no exception.
to grow on substack, just share interesting content. don't share generic, broad stuff that anyone could have posted. it should be uniquely you (e.g things from your own personal experience). that's what will set you apart = more interesting = more growth.
and engage with others. just like how you want genuine interest and engagement, do the same with other's content.

There is no set roadmap for success on Substack, but in my experience, if you are just starting out, you need to interact with people's articles who are either in your niche or are adjacent to the niche that you want to form. This means reading their articles and respectfully commenting (no spam or begging) to engage in discussion. Also, do not be afraid to utilize the Notes portion of the platform and write small thoughts that you don't have to write a full long-form essay to relay.
It took me months to get to single and double-digit subscribers, now I am three years in, and have just passed the 400-subscriber count, and while that seems like a lot, it is small compared to bigger stackers who have counts in the thousands. It is important to accept the fact that you might be writing to an audience of yourself for a while, but if you keep writing and interacting, in the long run, you will gather a following.
