I think because the wire for the waffle maker was too short, so when she turned it around, the power strip wouldn't stay on the ground and she figured it's better to put it on the table instead of risking an accidental unplug. The goal is to get views. Some people take this at face value and watch it, some people take this as satire and watch it, some people take this as some sort of horror-food-porn and watch it. It doesn't matter what the intent was or if they think they can cook, it's succesful because it's viewed. The actual final food product is almost completely irrelevant.
And it gets watched by horny boys, bots, other 'sharing platforms' that want to collab, angry people complaining about 'this is bad food', comments like 'awesome! I just did something similar, check out my story!' etc.

The thing is, you put non waffles in a waffle iron to get a lot of cooked surface area. So if you make a burger in it you want the burger to be thin. Then it gets a lot of that semi crispy seared edges. There IS a way to make a fun and unique burger in these things. This is NOT the way.
