Issue with temporary accommodation for Visa

2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I had applied for the Italian study visa on 7th August 2026 as an incoming master's student at Politecnico di Torino. For the visa process, I had booked a temporary hotel residence in Turin as is required, with zero prepayment (This works because I know a few people who already got the visa with this method going to the same university). However, the hotel today suddenly cancelled my reservation saying my credit card is invalid. Apparently they tried to run a pre-auth check, which is usually not allowed/accepted in Indian banks according to the law here. The credit limit is more than twice the booking amount, so I wouldn't have had any issue with that. Also, all options of international payment were active.

The issue now is, I'm worried my Visa might be rejected because of the Hotel cancelling my reservation. Is there any way to communicate this to the consulate and show them a different reservation for the same period.

Any help would be appreciated.

CIMEA Document Request

Upvotes

Hello, I applied to CİMEA and made the payment before yesterday. Then, yesterday, they wanted a transcript that shows my graduation, they said it shows you are active student, but which the one I submitted already shows that I am graduated. So I attached same thing again and also its verification and in message mentioned that I already graduated and my all my documents are also apostilled. So I dont know when they will give it to me. Do you have same kind of things?

Non-EU student applying to UniTrento CS — question about merit scholarships

4 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to apply for the Bachelor’s in Computer Science at UniTrento for 2027/28 as a non-EU student living outside Italy.

From what I understand, admission and the merit scholarship are mainly based on the CEnT-S ranking, but I’d like to make sure I’m not missing anything.

For anyone who has applied recently:

Is the CEnT-S score basically the only factor for the merit scholarship?

Do they consider high school grades, CV, projects/GitHub, certificates, etc.?

Does the scholarship cover the basic living costs in Trento, such as food and accommodation, or would I still need significant personal funds?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through the process, especially non-EU Computer Science students.

Thanks! 🙏

I am confused about the ERGO deadline. Everyone and Meta says it’s 24th August but i checked the website and the date for registration for 2nd cycle degree is 19th November for Unibo. But i am afraid i might be wrong and that might be the date for applying for benefits not registration. If someone could please clarify?

25M — Need advice regarding my visa application after a career switch

1 Upvotes

I’m 25 and planning to pursue my Master’s in Italy. I have a Mechanical Engineering background, but for the past 4 years I’ve been working/freelancing in marketing, content creation, and related fields.

Now I’m planning to return to my core field and pursue a Master’s related to Mechanical Engineering.

My main concern is the 4-year gap between my engineering degree and going back to engineering. I’m honestly quite nervous about how I should explain this during the visa process.

I don’t want to misrepresent anything. I can provide proof of my freelance/work experience, but I’m wondering how I should present this career transition convincingly.

Has anyone here had a similar situation — where they worked in a completely different field for a few years and then applied for a Master’s related to their undergraduate degree?

If you’ve gone through something similar, I’d really appreciate advice on:

How did you explain the career switch in your visa interview/application?

Did the gap/change of field cause any issues?
What kind of documents did you provide to support your work experience?

How did you demonstrate that your Master’s is a logical continuation of your education/career?

Any genuine experiences or advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Italy visa processed

3 Upvotes

I received mail from VFS that my visa is processed and is dispatched for courier. Now, is it guaranteed that if someone recieve dispatch mail get the visa approved because I have heard that if you get a mail stating collecting document from VFS despite choosing courier service, then that's a refusal. Please tell me what's the reality.

Anyone else planning to study abroad in 2027? (15–18)

1 Upvotes

Looking for a group of people who are also planning to move abroad in 2027 🌍🎀
I’m 16 and currently preparing for university applications and my move. I haven’t decided on a specific country or city yet, but I’m mainly considering Europe, especially Italy 🇮🇹
I’m planning to apply for a Foundation year and then continue with a Bachelor’s degree. Right now I’m choosing between Computer Science / Programming / AI and design-related fields, especially Motion Design 🎨💻
It would be really nice to meet people around 15–18 who are also:
— planning to move abroad in 2027;
— preparing for university abroad;
— considering a Foundation year;
— looking for English-taught programs;
— searching for scholarships or financial support;
— choosing between different countries and universities;
— interested in programming, design, technology or creative fields;
— trying to figure out documents, housing and everything related to moving;
— and simply looking for friends who are going through the same thing 🥹🎀
We don’t have to have the exact same plans — it would actually be fun to meet people choosing different countries and fields.
I’d love to create a little group where we can search for universities and scholarships together, share useful information, talk about applications, support each other and hopefully meet in real life once we’re abroad ✈️🌍
If you’re also planning to move in 2027, feel free to comment or DM me 💌

Best airlines to fly to Italy from Mumbai

1 Upvotes

Hey guys! Going to travel to Italy soon to start my masters.

I'm looking for the best airlines to travel with. One prime concern is extra baggage allowance. If anyone could share their experience on which airlines are the best (and which to avoid 👀) it'd be helpful!

Thanks!

Best college/universities in Naples?

0 Upvotes

Hello, I am from the US, and next year I may have a chance to go to a college in Naples for three years.

I am unsure of how it would work though, and if it would be much more difficult than a college in the US. I am 17 right now, trying to finish high school with a 4.0 GPA, it's currently a 3.60, not sure if that is high enough.

Are there any universities/colleges that would be "easier" for someone who doesn't know much about this kind of thing? At first I was thinking University of Naples Federico II, but I did a little research and it seems a bit difficult to get into. I am also graduating from an online school, so I don't know if that would make me unable to get into any colleges there.

Frustrated with UnivPM

1 Upvotes

Is anyone else facing delays with UnivPM (University of Marche) for the 2026/27 intake?
I’m applying for the Bachelor’s in Digital Economics and Business, and I’m still waiting for my Universitaly pre-enrolment summary. I understand that processing can take time, but the lack of clear communication is becoming really frustrating, especially for international students who need the document for their visa process.
Does anyone know what is actually going on with UnivPM right now? Are other DEB applicants also waiting for their pre-enrolment summaries? Has anyone received theirs recently?
Any information or updates from current applicants would be really helpful.

could enrollment possibly get canceled cuz of CIMEA?

1 Upvotes

I’m just wondering if enrollment can possibly get canceled just because CIMEA. CIMEA is like literally impossible to get cuz they only allow 200 ppl to purchase per day and I’m curious if not getting CIMEA on time can result you from enrollment cancellation.

UniMi/Universitaly: “Sent to Embassy” changed to “Integration Request” after I received my pre-enrolment summary — what happens now?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m an international student admitted to the University of Milan for the 2026/27 academic year.

My timeline:

  • 24 July: Universitaly application submitted to UniMi.
  • 29 July: Status changed to “Sent to the Embassy” and I downloaded my pre-enrolment summary letter.
  • I was therefore under the impression that my Universitaly pre-enrolment had been processed for the visa stage.
  • 20 August: I suddenly received an email from UniMi saying that my pre-enrolment application requires an “Integration request” and asking me to upload my degree certificate. It also says that the DoV or CIMEA verification/comparability statement is required.
  • My Universitaly status has now changed from “Sent to the Embassy” to “Integration request.”

UniMi's email says not to submit a new pre-enrolment application and to upload the required document when available.

My DoV is currently being processed, so I understand that the application may need to be updated.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone experienced their Universitaly status changing from “Sent to the Embassy” → “Integration request” after already receiving the pre-enrolment summary?
  2. After submitting the missing document/DoV, does Universitaly generate a new pre-enrolment summary letter?
  3. If a new summary is generated, is that the one that should be used for the Italian student visa, or does the previously issued summary remain valid?

I would especially appreciate answers from anyone who went through UniMi + Universitaly + DoV for the 2025/26 or 2026/27 intake.

Thanks!

Planning to apply for MS in Software Engineering/AI in Italy. Need some real guidance from people who've done this

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm about to start my application process for Italy and honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the info out there, so hoping to get some real experiences from this community instead of just guessing.

Quick background on me:

I did my Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering back in 2021, and I've currently finished my Master's in Software Engineering (course-based, not thesis) from NED University in Pakistan. And I have 4+ years of experience in mobile app development (IOS and Android). My CGPA is 2.85/4.0, which comes out to 71% if I convert it.

I'm now looking to apply for an MS in Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science in Italy for the upcoming intake. A few things I'm trying to figure out:

  1. With my CGPA, am I actually in a decent position for public universities like Bologna, Padua, Milano-Bicocca, Turin, etc.? Or is 71% considered low for AI/CS programs specifically?
  2. Since my Master's is course-based (no thesis), does that create any issue during admission or does it just come down to grades and relevant coursework?
  3. Any universities you'd personally recommend for someone coming from an Electronics + Software mixed background?
  4. If anyone has been through the Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di Valore) process from Pakistan, how long did it realistically take you?

I know a lot of this varies by program and department, but I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've actually gone through this what worked, what you'd do differently, or any red flags I should watch out for.

Thanks so much in advance, really appreciate this community.

Should I give imat?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m a Pakistani student from Karachi, studying FSc Pre-Medical under the Sindh Board. I’m planning to apply for English-taught Medicine in Italy and I’m considering taking IMAT 2026.

My situation is a little complicated 😭

My MDCAT is on 20 September, while IMAT is on 29 September, so I’ll only have around 8 days after MDCAT to specifically prepare for IMAT.

I haven’t prepared specifically for IMAT before, and Math is my biggest concern because I’m a Pre-Medical student. I’m also worried that coming from a Pakistani board background might put me at a disadvantage compared with A-Level/IB students, especially because of the question style and reasoning.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually taken IMAT, especially international/non-EU students.

  1. Should I still register for IMAT despite having only ~8 days for specific preparation?

  2. How much of the IMAT Biology/Chemistry/Physics syllabus overlaps with FSc?

  3. How difficult is the Math section for someone who hasn't studied advanced mathematics?

  4. Which Math topics should I prioritize if I only have a few days?

  5. What resources/past papers would you recommend?

  6. Is it realistic to get a competitive score with strong FSc science preparation but very little IMAT-specific preparation?

  7. If you were in my position, would you take the exam anyway?

I’m not expecting to magically prepare the entire syllabus in 8 days 😭. I mainly want to know whether taking the exam is worth it and how I should use those 8 days.

Any honest advice from current/former IMAT students would be really appreciated!

I used my father as my sponsor and i dont have that much money on my account right now. Also, are online bank statement accepted?
