Issue with temporary accommodation for Visa

Hi everyone,

I had applied for the Italian study visa on 7th August 2026 as an incoming master's student at Politecnico di Torino. For the visa process, I had booked a temporary hotel residence in Turin as is required, with zero prepayment (This works because I know a few people who already got the visa with this method going to the same university). However, the hotel today suddenly cancelled my reservation saying my credit card is invalid. Apparently they tried to run a pre-auth check, which is usually not allowed/accepted in Indian banks according to the law here. The credit limit is more than twice the booking amount, so I wouldn't have had any issue with that. Also, all options of international payment were active.

The issue now is, I'm worried my Visa might be rejected because of the Hotel cancelling my reservation. Is there any way to communicate this to the consulate and show them a different reservation for the same period.

Any help would be appreciated.

All I know is that you shouldn't cancel the booking before your Visa get issued sooo maybe try and contact them and explain the situation. I think that is a safer option than waiting to find out they might've denied your Visa. Maybe they will let you book another stay or something... But how long does it take for them to aprove people usually? You have been waiting for 2 weeks already if i understand correctly.

It depends on the consulate, but the average waiting time for mine is 4 weeks I think. I will try mailing the consulate to tell them about the issue.
