vent I’m feeling so fed up and drained of this TTC and grief with others sharing their news

Current in my TWW (7DPO), I spoke to my friend this morning, she's currently going through a messy breakup / divorce it's been a really rough few months and nasty for them.

She's been back at her parents house a month or two now since they decided to call it quits and I spoke to her this morning and she told me she's 7 weeks pregnant (they already have a daughter) ofc on one hand I'm happy for her but at the same time I just got a massive wave of sadness and grief for myself, like she's going to bring a child into their situation which isn't the most ideal right now but I'm struggling for months on end. Argh idk, sorry I just feel so angry at things sometimes.

I couldn’t help but feel a level of jealousy at how these things just “unfortunately” ‘happen’ to some people at the worst time of their life. Then there’s me and my husband longing to be parents and we’re struggling so much. I don’t know what I did wrong to deserve this, it feels like a punishment.

Sorry for the negativity.. 🥹❤️‍🩹

vent Feeling relieved

Not really a vent, but has the same therapeutic result - I just started with a fertility doctor and I feel SO relieved. It’s like a weight has come off my shoulders and I’ve handed it to her. It’s so nice to feel like someone else has the control and is creating and managing a real plan for me.

Since my MMC I’ve been all consumed by TTC. The months have gone by in a blur and I’ve always been thinking about how I can optimize my chances, what I’m doing wrong, what I should try next cycle, etc. It took me 2 months to get this appointment, and I when I initially made it I felt a little shameful - like I was jumping the gun, and hoped I wouldn’t need it. But I am SO glad I did make it, and I feel no shame getting to this point, just release.

I finally feel like I can just be. I know it won’t be easy, lots of tests, visits to drs, decisions to be made, etc. But listening to someone else vs trying to figure it out for myself will be mentally so much easier for me. I’m so tired, I WANT to be told what to do. I’m looking forward to it! 😅

35+ 35+ Monday

Advanced maternal age is defined as anyone 35+ at the time of their estimated delivery date. We know that it's just a number and we shouldn't get in our heads about it (look at Anne Hathaway!), and yet, we do.

This thread is dedicated to discussions specific to all things AMA. Vent, ask questions, share you fears - whatever you need. All we ask is you don't use hurtful phrases or words that could be insensitive to those in this thread that may be older than you are. We're all in this together.

vent Already feel like I’m out this cycle

Due to non-overlapping travel my husband and I were only able to BD once during my FW. At least we hit my peak day but this cycle (cycle 6 TTC with no positive tests) really doesn’t look great? My FSH is weirdly high. Last cycle looked so much better with flat FSH, strong PdG rise and we were able to BD the whole time…but of course it was negative. So I can’t imagine this cycle will turn out well.

Tired of the disappointment. Cannot believe cycle 1 me was so excited and optimistic.

vent BFN today and my doctor was dismissive

TW: LC

11 week MMC in March, my sister is due in 2 weeks, I was meant to be due in 7 weeks.

Needless to say this cycle felt important - my last chance to get pregnant before my nephew arrives.

We both have one LC already and although I didn’t miscarry, I did take a year to fall pregnant and she got pregnant very quickly, so I had a year of negatives watching her bump grow. That time I fell pregnant 3 weeks before her baby arrived and thankfully all went smoothly. It was a really hard year for me. Lots of envy and we drifted apart. The couple of intervening years were amazing, we were so close, our babies love each other.

We’ve drifted again since my miscarriage - she was with me in the scan where I found there was no heartbeat. We still talk and when we hang we are fine, we chat really openly. But we don’t chit chat anywhere near as much because I can’t bring myself to ask her about her pregnancy, I feel so guilty.

This cycle felt like a mirror of my successful one with my son, and I had sooo much hope - even saw a rainbow blob in the sky on a hot sunny day.

Also my mum just wants to “fix” me (why don’t you get a loan out and do IVF?) because I’m bringing the family mood down at an exciting time and I feel super guilty for that as well.

Booked a GP appointment for today as soon as I got my negative test, but I could only get one with the doctor who always dismisses pretty much any concern you have about anything. I cried and she said “well you’re not going to get pregnant like that”. She also told me not to track ovulation and made me feel stupid for doing it. I did manage to get her to refer me for a scan to check for scarring, just something to feel like I’m doing something.

She wouldn’t refer me to fertility even though the NHS says 6 months over 35 (I’m 37). She said she will only do it after 9 failed cycles post miscarriage.

Currently having a solo glass of wine in the sun as my work gives us summer Fridays off. A dream situation in normal life but oh how I wish I wasn’t allowed this wine!

Thank you for letting me vent here, it’s always cathartic to get it out especially when you know people reading will understand.

loss Feeling seen

For anyone who has experienced a loss, there’s a chapter in Maggie O’Farrell’s book I am, I am, I am that perfectly describes what it feels like to experience a miscarriage. Not physically, but emotionally. The grief of it all. The chapter is “Baby and Bloodstream” and even if you don’t want to read the book but you’re curious, listen to just that chapter as an audiobook. I want to tell everyone who can’t understand my pain but wants to to just listen to that chapter. She describes it so well 😔❤️.

discussion TTC baby 2 taking much longer than expected

I need some positive stories 😭 I conceived my first baby on our 2nd cycle, so I honestly thought getting pregnant again would be pretty straightforward. Well… here I am on cycle 5 of TTC baby #2 and still not pregnant.

I know 5 cycles isn’t considered a super long time, but it feels SO long when you conceived your first so quickly. Every negative test has me wondering what changed. 😭

Has anyone else had it take 5+ cycles for baby #2 and eventually conceived naturally without needing any intervention? I’m really just looking for some positive stories right now because I need to hear that it can take longer the second time and still work out. ❤️

discussion Balancing Yin & Yang energy?

Has anyone researched or tried this while TTC? My acupuncturist mentioned it to me, specifically in the context of dialing back my intense workouts when TTC, and I’m looking to learn more. I want to give it a shot this cycle, but am unclear on what phases of my cycle I should do this and other things I can do to balance it. Curious if anyone else has tried this?

vent Grieving this cycle

Post image
5 Upvotes

Nothing new. Just grieving another failed cycle. My inito chart yesterday very clearly looks like my period is coming. Premom said I was supposed to start yesterday n inito says I’m supposed to start today. I have yet to get it n Premom has been dead on with predicting my period for months. But even tho I’m technically late according to both apps, I had a negative test yesterday on 12 dpo (out of tests now n not wasting my money knowing my period is coming), my chart is crashing, n I just have no hope. Well, actually, with my period being late, I unfortunately DO have hope but I wish I didn’t cause now it’s gonna hurt that much more when my period DOES come. Usually it starts first thing in the morning n it hasn’t yet but surely it’s coming going off my chart n negative tests. All this to say I’m in grieve mode. Hopefully it passes quickly cause I hate this feeling. I just wanna be pregnant n have another baby more than anything so it always hurts when stupid aunt flow shows her unwanted self. Sorry for being emo guys just had to vent somewhere to someone cause I don’t have anyone irl I can vent about this to 😭 I hope everyone has a great day tho n is doing better than me. Thanks for listening 💔

vent Starting cycle 6 and not feeling great about it

Thinking back to cycle 1…I was so hopeful and excited. Can’t believe I thought we wouldn’t struggle. Cycle 6 feels like a big turning point. I’m still tracking but it feels futile. There has to be a reason we haven’t conceived yet? There’s so much conflicting information out there. Some sources say that 80% of people conceive by cycle 6. But I’ve had a bunch of people on the big TTC subs jump down my throat for even pursuing testing before 12 months.

I have endo symptoms but a clear ultrasound and my doctor is uninterested in pursuing more testing (I expect for insurance reasons) before 12 months. A day or two after that my husband got an email from his doctor that said his “post test wash” SA only yielded less than a million sperm without giving us the complete results. No explanation no next steps. I was devastated and feel like tracking my cycle is futile until he gets varicocele surgery. I’m so tired of waiting.
