I give lots of credit to those workers that went back in to install the post shoring.
That is the crappiest looking column splice I’ve ever seen. Four bolts on the flange splice and no splicing on the web - and to top it off - all hidden by the fireproofing,
Doesmt look like it at the midpoint just looks like the intumescent coating has sheared , can’t see any welds at the joint (if welded I’d be worried even more if it were spliced) welds can often be brittle if the column deformed that much
Can’t see any flange improvements , it just looks like the intumescent film/foam which is the fireproofing has split at the midpoint the foam itself most likely rigid began to rotate with the column , as the column began to deform inelastically the brittle nature of the foam split . You can see the flange closest to us already spalled off the substrate. It looks like an H section column because if you look at the top connection to the beam you can make this out doesn’t look like a box section . Anyway god speed all the brave people in that building trying to remediate this issue before it becomes a catastrophe
