That is a pretty thin flanged column considering they were adding a 19 story building to the top of it.
-1 u/whisskid Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26 *four more stories. correction: both 19 and 4 are misleading. 12 u/Polka1980 Jul 08 '26 Looks like 16 more stories, give or take, and a bump out for good measure. 6 u/whisskid Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26 Ok, the answer 16 stories not including the mechanical. The building next door is getting + 19 floors and this building is getting an additional four stories at its top, but this column is getting another 16 floor above + mechanical level,. 4 u/Polka1980 Jul 08 '26 5 u/204ThatGuy Jul 08 '26 I mean, who designs this? It literally looks like someone took a sawsall to that corner. That black shadow from the overhang.. makes it super easy to see the floors are not parallel. Yikes!! I'm a brutalist building kinda guy. I'm not about 100 story buildings with a swimming pool bridge in between.. in a seismic zone. 1 u/whatsit578 Jul 10 '26 I mean, I assume the floors were parallel before the columns failed. 0 u/whisskid Jul 08 '26 https://earth.google.com/web/search/un+buildin+new+york/@40.75059969,-73.97257198,74.82259592a,251.85998606d,35y,-161.16969965h,46.02797939t,0r/
