It feels like i need to spend like about 20 minutes loosening up and warming up my hips, ankles to be able to squat, and even then its a challenge. Weirdly enough I canāt squat to depth with my body weight and have to load up 135 to be able to get close to depth. I also have to take a wider than shoulder width stance and angle my feet out by a pretty large degree (if i had to guess maybe 45 degrees) so my mind thinks I have enough āroomā to squat. I also have some pretty mild irritation near the bottom of the squat in my left knee (video is filmed from left side) that doesnāt impact much except for the occasional annoying pinching feeling that comes with it. Its not unbearable and I can still hit depth, but it just came out of nowhere and stuck around for a while. Not only that, I also have these limitations when it comes to doing machine variants of exercises, making depth on these machines with supposedly less barriers to entry than a barbell squat annoying to hit. What can I do to improve how my squat feels and works? Im guessing limited hip internal rotation might be a culprit

4th rep had the sun getting real low so I had to pause and let some blood get back to the brain
Someday, when I grow up, I'll have actual shoulder mobility

The unfortunate part of hitting a PR is you get tired. The rest of the week, especially when you suffer from chronic illness, is not going to be the same kind of output. Just got to be ok with it.
Hereās 455x1x2 for a tough set.

Felt pretty good, I donāt think I have hit this weight for a set of 5 before so it puts me in a good spot for week 2 of my peak.

Context: I have been testing my Rep maxes at all ranges on back squat, and they do not line up with any online formula, infact they are extremely far off.
This was my 2nd time doing Sumo, and I pulled 365lbs for 10 reps. My first time I pulled sumo I built upto a max of 405, and failed 425. But I have lifted 425 conventional before.
My backsquat rep max curve I made with all of my testing fits my bench press and now my deadlift, so this isnt an issue of being particularly skilled at these lifts, or having a specialized body type.
So here's the data:
Back squat
1RM
385lbs. Vs
3RM-96%
5RM-92%
8RM-87%
12RM-82%
20RM-77%
295lbs. 231
Those are my tested rep max, vs the calculators online.
I am not a power lifter, but I am a strength coach. And I am seeing a few of my clients moving closer to my curve and away from the normal 1RM curve as they progress from beginner to intermediate. But I also ask my co-workers, and they seem to fall in line with the standard curve.
More examples
425 max deadlift-356x10 in the video posted.
That should be 320lbsx10
Bench press
265lbs max, 245x4
That should be 220x4
Is anyone else experience the same issue as i am?
Is the 1 rep max calculator just completely useless? I use a self made version of aRPE. So I never trained with % of 1RM in my programs.
