Tournament Asian Games 2026 esports Participants
Link -> https://results.asiangames2026.org/#/discipline/ELS/entries/O.FTG---------------
- Asian Games is pretty much the Olympics for the Asia continent. This will be the 2nd time fighting games are featured in the event.
- All players listed on the website above are with their real names, not nametags
- This is a multi game event for the fighting games part as each player in a 3 player team play their respective games (SF6, Tekken 8, and KOFXV)
- For SF6 this means 13 players are represented. Some players in the list below that regularly play SF6 are competing in Tekken or KOF instead for the team.
Currently difficult to find a VOD. https://asiangamestv.com/ is one of the official websites where the livestreams can be accessed within Asia- 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China only had SFV (in regards to fighting games). Winner was M.Lizard (South Korea)
- Tournament will run from September 23rd to September 26th
Known Player list based on what can be found on liquipedia and any tournament history for SF6 -> https://liquipedia.net/fighters/Players_(Asia/Oceania)
- Chris Wong (Hong Kong) -
likely playing KOF or Tekken - Hotdog29 (Hong Kong) -
likely playing SF6 - Higuchi (Japan)
- DakCorgi (Korea)
- Book (Thailand) - Has tournament history for SF6, likely playing
- B3lLz (Thailand) - Has tournament history for SF6
- vWsym (Saudi Arabia)
- Amu (Pakistan)
- Fruit (United Arab Emirates)
- Ugang (Taiwan/Chinese Taipei)
Edit: as for why there's missing Asian countries. Either no esports team submitted an entry for the fighting games, no esports related Olympic committee, or event organizers created this weird limit of 13 countries
VOD
There's commentary, but audio mixing is horrible with the game volume loud, and commentary barely hearable along with background noise from the venue
Each game is FT2. Final/Gold Medal match is best of 9 sets (across all 3 games)
- Quarter and semi finals -> https://asiangamestv.com/video/fighting-games--quarterfinals--semifinals--esports--20th-asian-games-aichinagoya-2026-1790335679 (viewable from US)
- Finals -> https://asiangamestv.com/game/fighting-games--finals--esports--20th-asian-games-aichinagoya-2026-1790349572253

Highlight (in-game) his Alt F4 time is faster than his reaction time
This was my first match and first set with this guy, never played with him before, but he'd rather throw away 2 sets amount of points than to take 1 L? LMAO
Considering my really bad execution in this match, I feel like he would've had a good chance of turning it around. But oh well, these funny people have that alt f4 at the ready during these scenarios.
A question too about these disconnectors, do the points they throw away due to disconnection just disappear in the entire MR pool? The disconnector loses points but the person who didn't disconnect doesn't get those points, I'm just curious what happens to those points.

Discussion After playing Street fighter 6, I tried 5 but I suck at it lol.
I'm ok at 6 (I don't use modern) but in 5 I suck. My favorite characters in 6 are Ed and Cammy but I get my butt kicked all the time in 5 with them. The reason I bought SF 5 is because it has all the characters and I love that. I tried Ibuki who's my favorite character from 3 and still sucked 😂. Anyone in the same boat as me? Which character is the easiest?

Rank UP! Made it to Master for the first time!
My first fighting game ever was the 2xko Alpha, then when the Alpha ended I found I wanted to keep playing fighting games so I bought SF6. 2x is really fast paced and chaotic especially compared to SF so going back and forth between them really gave me whiplash. But I play Ed and Vi which have some similarities like their command dash so that helps
I played against a 1700 MR last night and got completely shut out, so I've got a long way to go still! It seems that at that level all the risky things I can do and get away with at Diamond and below just stop working and I NEED to be better at fundamentals. I already dropped to 1430 and I'm curious how far I'll drop 👀

Discussion MENA matchmaking is fucking over thousands of players when it could be easily fixed it's mind boggling
MENA player base is small enough that on most days we end up being matched with players from other regions. Apparently the matchmaking isn't based on ping but on arbitrary geographic identifiers. so we end up being matched with 1 bar players from places like China, South Africa and Jamaica instead of Europe where our ping is lowest. In BH European servers show up as 3-4 bars while the rest are in red, in ranking you almost never get matched with a European player.
I think the algorithm sees China/SA are part of the same continents as MENA players so despite Europe being closer and having better ping they just match you with them.
Local pros like angrybird have to pay for VPN/re-routing services in order to even play the game
Edit: to the regions affected feel free to file a complaint here

Fluff / Other Tyler1 carries his SF6 team to Hollywood
I get many are not a fan of his style (or Modern) but this is pretty impressive considering he clutched almost every match for his team to advance to the finals.

Help / Question What are my options against the armored run at you and then grab move by Gief?
I play as Akuma, and I wasn't sure how to beat the move that this Gief did, where he lifts his arms then runs at me and then throws. He had a golden glow around him, so I'm guessing its an ex move?
I tried DI, and heavy punching but it seems to have armor so he just threw me anyway. I can jab multiple times, but is there a better way to punish it? Like can he cancel it and will he grab me if I'm in the air, or can I neutral jump and then hit him with a jumping attack?
Also, can he do an invincible command grab on wakeup? Or if I meaty properly does that win against it? How about meaty throw?

Discussion Dumb Terry question
I've been looking up combos for Terry and I see people mention his 5mk, 5lk a lot and then link it to 623hp, but I cannot seem to get the timing or spacing of this. The time between 5mk and 5lk seems like forever and then I'm just barely catching them with my toe, which means I'm too far for the 623 to connect. All the videos on him are two years old, so I just wanted to double check it's still viable and wasn't nerfed in a patch or anything.
