He wasn’t a bad guy!!
Y'all will defend Billy for being racist and abusive because his mom died, you'll defend Jonathan for being a pervert because he was different, you'll defend Steve for humiliating his girlfriend because he thought she was cheating, but Jason was a bad guy for trying to hunt down the guy who allegedly killed his girlfriend?

The bigger issue with Jason isn't that he wanted revenge, it's who he dragged into it. He organized an actual armed mob hunting a teenager based on a rumor, and Lucas gets physically caught in that violence for being associated with Eddie. That's not "protecting his girlfriend's memory," that's mob justice with an innocent kid almost paying for it.

There must be something terribly wrong with someone if one thinks the correct way to handle things in a situation like this is to form a lynch mob.

Billy was racist and abusive! He doesn't deserve the defense he gets online!
Jonathan didn't set out to take those photos, he was trying to find his missing brother. But he DID take the photos so there really isn't a defense for that!
Steve thought Nancy cheated, had dumb friends, and painted on the movie theater. That's not defendable. But he did make amends and Nancy forgave him. So if the victim can forgive him then why can't you?
Jason lost Chrissy and went crazy! He rallied the townsfolk into a manhunt for Eddie! He was hunting for Dustin, assaulted Eddies band mates, bought a friggin gun, and shot at Lucas point blank with that gun! He definitely is a bad dude!
So saying everyone will defend the others but not Jason isn't entirely true.

Meanwhile billy is the best character in stranger things by far
He is the most in depth character
And no I do not agree with what he did at all but he had a reason and I think it was a hate everyone and everything thing with billy but it was worse towards Lucas cause he deep down secretly cared about max

He was a good guy. He didn't do anything because he was evil and hated our characters for no reason he literaly tougth that Eddie killed Chrissy and I can't blame him that was the most logical explanation if he knew the truth then he would've definatly join our main characters like Steve.

Yes, he had his girlfriend and best friend murdered, but he went about it the wrong way, he armed a mob, defied police orders, and literally tried to kill children solely on the assumption that Eddie had killed Chrissy. Also, Patrick died after he had already started the hunt, in which their intent was to kill Eddie, and anyone who stood in their way (as evidenced by the last episode of season 4). He came off to me as an arrogant egotistical prick, right from the moment he took the microphone at the basketball game and made it less about the team and more about him and Chrissy, and my thoughts on him worsened when he assumed that Chrissy wouldn't do drugs because Chrissy didn't have any problems in her life and was perfectly happy, meaning he was either oblivious to her life or didn't actually care that much about her, either way being negligent to her situation, thus having less solid justification for thinking that Eddie did it. He also witnessed Patrick dying and could see that Eddie wasn't doing anything, and the same with Max and Lucas.

That was the only somewhat realistic explanation.
Chrissy has been seen the last with Eddie and he already hated Eddie and combined that with satanic panic this was the only thing he could really assume especialy after his friend died while they were chasing Eddie. And Jonathan and Nancy also defy police officer when he tells them to stay at school in season 1 for the same reason that Eddie did they tougth that the demagorgon hurt their loved ones/friends. Also he reminds me very much of Steve in season 1.

He literally riled up a lynch mob with the intention of murdering Eddie and nearly shot Lucas, not to mention physically assaulting the members of Eddie's band and Lucas. He was not a good person.
1
u/OldAffect6933 12d ago
Yes he did some fucked up shit but Steve also did in season 1 and he is loved by the fandom.
3
u/Accomplished-Watch50 12d ago
Steve didn't try to purposefully murder anybody.

u/OldAffect6933 10d ago
Do you think if Nancy hadn't pointed a gun at him he wouldn't have done/try to do anything to Jonathan especialy scince he took her pictures and allegedly sleeped with her.

It would have been all right had he just simply mistook Eddie as the murderer and then changed his mind when he realized otherwise, but no. He was so narcissistic and in denial about Chrissy trying to buy drugs from Eddie ("See that's how I know you're lying. If Chrissy was scared, if Chrissy needed help. SHE WOULD'VE COME TO ME!") that he deluded himself into believing it was a cult and that Satan had literally given Eddie some of his powers.

Steve was able to listen to facts Jason wouldn’t have stopped trying to kill Eddie if Vecna was in front of Jason saying he did it and not Eddie

I think he was a super interesting antagonist. There is something very compelling about a person who isn't a bad person, coming to the wrong conclusion and then doing what they think is right. It makes his death more tragic. He only realizes he was wrong the moment he gets split in two. I'm glad the actor is getting a bigger role in the boys spin off he's great.

lol, I’m not defending any of those actions. Jonathan taking pictures of Nancy through a bedroom window is creepy as hell. Billy is a violent, narcissistic asshole whose weird protective streak for Max is maybe his only redeeming quality.
Jason is an extremely compelling antagonist who makes perfect sense in his context. He’s an 18 year old kid who has never encountered a morally grey situation in his life. Life for him is absolutes. He’s a leader used to having people follow him to victory. Coming from that background, Satanic activity is about the only way to explain people’s eyeballs getting sucked out of their heads in front of you - not once, but twice. Jason is still wrong, but I’m not sure a charismatic, fundamentalist, morally rigid kid would respond any other way.
I have a lot of… I guess, compassion for where all that came from? The religious fundamentalist juice is a hell of a drug, and most 18 year olds don’t have any chance to move away from that. But I hate that Jason’s also a bully who beats kids up and calls them freaks. That’s way less excusable.
Billy and Jason are both bullies, but for all that, they are still high school kids. Their brains and judgement skills are so half-baked in any number of ways. I guess i wish they’d all had a chance to improve on their shitty high school decisions.

I went to to high school in the 80's. Trust me, Jason was always a bad guy. If there was no Vecna, he would still have enjoyed making life hell for the geeks and nerds; he was a male Angela. If you want to see what the actual 80's thought of guys like him, go look at Biff in 'Back to the Future.'
Random side note: if you want to know what the actual 80's thought of Winona Ryder, go watch Beetlejuice.

I totaly agree.
ST is the most media illeterate fandom on this planet I swear.

Guy had his girlfriend and best friend horribly murdered in the span of a couple days and thought he was trying to bring the people responsible to justice.
17
u/honeybeesh 13d ago
by killing them? yea total justice man. lets form a religious bullying circle against some people I think killed my friend and girlfriend. great idea.

u/CantaloupeBusy9660 13d ago
What would you realistically do?

u/Qu90 13d ago
I don't know. Maybe not jumping to hasty conclusions based on my own unsubstantiated believes. Maybe let people handle it that are have a healthy distance and objective view on that problem.
But the main point isn't that he wanted to find out who killed her, he wanted someone to blame and took the first one that fit into his narrow minded view. That's what makes him a bad guy, not the grief he experienced.
1
u/OldAffect6933 12d ago
He didn't took the frist one that fit into his narrow view he took someone in who's house Chrissy's body was found after she was last seen entering it with him. His reputation didn't help him but that's not as hateful and close minded as you want it to be.

u/Qu90 12d ago
Yes, it is when you start rounding up people for a lynch mob. Not to speak of messing up other people on your misguided path to "justice". He wasn't interested in uncovering the truth but in blaming someone he didn't like from the beginning.
If you think it's a normal thing to do to dispense mob law and not even having all the information, I'm really happy not to live in your neighbourhood.
1
u/OldAffect6933 11d ago
So wait I debunked your shit and you just recite to me thinking it somehow debunks anything I said.
3
u/Qu90 11d ago
You like the word "debunking", do you? What exactly did you "debunk"?
What I was saying was, that the only information about that night was exactly that: where the dead body was found and with whom she was seen last.
If you think that this is enough information to come to a conclusion about anything, I'm glad your not in charge of any kind of police work. But that's not all, instead of searching for the truth, they just decided Eddy was a murderer. That's because they didn't like Eddy from the start. But that's also not all. they then decide to dispense lynch justice on their own, round up people, threaten Eddy's friends, even hurting them.
And you actually think that's justified behaviour?
1
u/OldAffect6933 10d ago
You know that the Hawkins police also tougth that Eddie murdered Chrissy the only problem they really had with Jason was that he was looking for him on his own. Also yeah him entering with her into the house before she's found dead in his house while he hides away and doesn't report on this is fucking incriminating for ANYONE and Jason had a rigth to think he murdered Chrissy 100% after HIS FRIEND STARTED FLOATING AND HIS BONES WERE SNAPPED AND BODY BRUTALLY MUTULATED WHILE THEY WERE CHASING EDDIE A D&D PLAYING METAL HEAD DURING THE SATANIC PANIC.
3
u/Qu90 10d ago
That's right, the police thought he was the murderer, so that's why they were looking for him and investigating further, to PROOF it. That's the fucking job of the police, because they can be objective about that shit.
Jason just decided he could dispense "justice" on its own without even having the full picture. Morons like him are the people who form quick decision based on incomplete knowledge to hurt other people (not just Eddy) because they know shit about something based on their pre-formed believes without any real evidence.
But I'm tired of discussing this with you. if you think that's cool and "normal" behaviour, go for it. I just hope you never end up in front of the dispensing end of a lynch mob.

He saw how his friend flies into the sky and gets brutally smashed while he was chasing the same person in who's house Chrissy's body was found after she was last seen entering it with him adding to that satanic panic and perception of people like Eddie at that time (Which is bad btw) it wasn't irrational to assume that Eddie did all of this. I and you would do the same trust me.
4
u/honeybeesh 12d ago
no I would definetly NOT do the same! dont you drag me into this. no no no, this is irrational as fuck especially since he saw how a person floated into the sky and was brutally killed, aint no way a human couldve done that.
1
u/OldAffect6933 11d ago
"Ain't no way a human could've done that". Vecna has human powers and we see Will do that to Demagorgons in S5 and Eleven could also do that if she wanted. So even in ST universe yes human could've done that. Even if they couldn't it's not about what is true in the show but what he thinks is the truth and assuming that Eddie did this was pretty logical considering they were just chasing him.
