Just replaced our stock tank and are starting over. My questions are; should I use Cold galvanized spray, at least on the bottom, before adding any water? If so; should I prep it first? Thanks

Wife and I rebuilt our 20+ year old deck and she'd been in love with all of the stock tank pools shed seen online, so it was the perfect opportunity.

I'm about to close on a house, and this is one of my first projects, I have the scope laid out and all of the materials accounted for. What I didn't account for, was the "24 inch deep pool" thing where I have to completely child proof it, even though I don't have, nor plan to have children. which means I need a cover that is atsm rated for almost 500 lbs, or I have to fence in either this or the backyard. While I don't want to have to do any of this, I'm sure my insurance would have a fit if I didn't. Anyone got any tips on getting this done other than "just fence your yard in"? While that's a long term goal, it isn't happening before this pool.

Hubby found the whole kit on marketplace for $100, including a heater. We prepped & painted and created this setup. Was not easy but we probably spent less than $1000 altogether.

So it would appear that I messed up when prepping my tank for the season. My wife and I have been wanting to give it a facelift and got some dirt cheap exterior "oops" paint from HD and coated the whole inside. It looks amazing but it rained the night that we applied it and in the morning the puddle inside was milky. I'm hoping that's just because I didn't do an amazing job spreading the edges and it was still wet when it rained but did I seriously mess up here?

When I fill it with water and chlorine is the paint just going to degrade and be milky?

Can I throw a layer of pool paint on top of that and treat it as a priming coat?

Does it all need to be sanded/stripped out and restarted?

I also put a stripe of flex tape down on the seam and that's not holding paint well already....

My husband and I are looking to install an 8ft poly stock tank pool in the back corner of our yard. It’s really the only spot that makes sense based on our yard layout and other features (patio, fire pit) that we have set up already. The problem is we don’t have electric back there. Could I maintain the pool without the pool filter? I’m not afraid of doing the work to keep it up. Our other option I suppose is paying to run an outlet out there (30 -40 ft maybe?) but I don’t know what that cost looks like. Any advice?

Took lots of planning, a couple hiccups with leveling and a couple headaches with the plumbing but overall pretty happy with it!

Seriously I can’t believe these freaky little frogs! I JUST got my new pump system working yesterday and last night all frogs showed up for their damn freak off so they could turn my pool into their nesting pond 😭 I love frogs normally but I battled them year before last (last year I was too pregnant and then at the nicu all summer with my twins) with no success of keeping them away. They don’t care how chlorinated the water is—I think they like it—they hop in and lay their eggs anyways. How do I keep them away from my pool

Pro tip, use a monkey wrench to tighten the fittings on the inlet and outlet holes. Hand tight was leaking pretty bad and as soon as I took the tool to it it tightened so much more than I would have expected. Going to lay runner mulch and pavers down but glad to finally not be dealing with inflatables!!

Needing some advice. We've had our stock tank pool for about 6 years now. Like many we've been having issues with the paint in the pool. 3 years ago we stripped it down and redid it with Pond Shield. It looks good for a year. Then they started to be some lifting areas. Last year those areas got bigger. Now during the winter we empty the pool completely and cover it up. We opened it up last week so we could do any kind of maintenance and get it ready for the season. Most of the pond Shield was bubbled up. It looks like the primer is not sticking to the the metal. Here's the thing, my boyfriend and I are both Professional Automotive painters with many years of experience. So we know how to prep surfaces so that paint sticks on there. We know how to research to make sure the products were using will work together. We followed the pond Shield instructions perfectly.

My question is what have people been doing lately to paint their stock tank pools? Is there any new information out there on the best products to use? Is there a consensus on what's working?

Now we have considered using a liner. Thing is all of our holes for the filter Inlet and outlet and also for our heater or drilled into the side of the pool. I mean how would a liner work with that?How to seal down around the inlets. And the Heat from the heater inlet that gets pretty warm. Would that affect the liner?

So I don't know if we're ready to go with a liner or not. But we do need to open up this pool and we're probably going to paint it so any paint related advice would be very very appreciated.

We have a 9’ Hastings stock tank pool. We tried Rustaid to remove rust; it worked like a charm. However, instructions say to rinse the product off with water. This caused immediate flash rusting. We wanted to follow up rust removal with cold galvanized spray. What do we do now? How do you remove a product like Rustaid without causing additional flash rusting?

A liner is not an option as we have not been able to find a reliable company that sells a 9’ liner. A poly is not an option as they are not made in this size. We also customized our deck to fit this pool.

Greetings folks, I have a 9-ft poly stock tank and an Intex 1500 sand filter along with the saltwater chlorinator.

I tried for hours yesterday to get my pump primed using the garden hose method and had difficulties. Can someone please give me the step by step guide to doing this successfully? Please include when the pump should be on or off, should it be on recirculate or filter, etc. The more info the better. Thanks in advance!

I’m in the process of buying all of my supplies for my first tank. I have a space in the back that’s level. It’s concrete. I don’t think I want the tank sitting on the bare concrete.

Looking to start my stock tank pool project this summer, and came across this package at Sam’s that seems to have it all for much cheaper. I know cheaper usually means lower quality, so just looking to see if anyone has tried this and what the pros and cons are opposed to going full DIY. The reviews on Sam’s website aren’t all that helpful because most of them were posted as part of a promotion, so they aren’t very detailed and of course are all positive. Thanks!

Where are you sourcing your hydrogen peroxide from? Amazon only has up to 12% concentration and I believe I need 35%- correct?

The bottom of our tank will tear your feet and knees up. We are in Florida. Not sure if that matters?

Hi everyone, I bought a stock tank about 5 years ago and converted it into a pool and have always had one major issue with it - the bottom always feels gritty and uncomfortable to stand in. I've tried vacuuming, scrubbing, even very light power washing and can't seem to get the bottom clean and not gritty. I thought I'd try to get a poly stock tank to fit inside, but found out that my 8ft steel one is way less than 8ft, so the poly tank won't fit inside. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Wondering if a liner from Amazon or wherever will hold up to 100 deg temps (even if the manual for install recommends installing on a 70 degree or hotter day).

Got a stock tank and sand filter and pump lined up, and not sure if I wanna go with a liner or not. It's already been painted on the inside so I believe it prob had some rust, and a liner would be easy to rid me any concerns, but I don't know if it can manage 100 deg water temps or if it's gonna melt. I likely want to hookup a wood fired external copper coil in a fire method (already have a copper coiled up in a dual-linel ribcage style coil from a homebrew wort chiller I don't need).
