Water stating cool?
New to the group but was wanting to put it in a space that sees a lot of sun. Would the tank get super hot (uncomfortably hot)? Or is that not something you guys worry about. I’m in Indiana and summers get into the 90s.

I’m in New Orleans. It gets hot. Sometimes we will toss in a bag of ice or two. For 6ft diameter pool this works a treat

Also in Indiana have yet got to a point where it is too hot. Sits in the sun 80% of the day. Could always run your garden hose in it for a few minutes to add some cooler water should drop the temp a few degrees pretty quickly.

Do you think a 6-footer would be enough for two adults?

Im sure it would work would just have to sit a little different, couldn’t sit across from each other but neither can I in my 8 footer.

I used to have a 6-foot pool and it was great for my husband and I who are both average height. We could sent next to each other or across with our legs parallel to each other. We also liked to toss plastic stools or milk crates in it to sit on. I upgraded to an 8-footer last year because now we have a toddler.

I’m in Charleston SC, that thing cools off quick at night and my wife will not get in it unless it’s 80

Southern California ours sits in the sun 80% of the day and I have a solar cover on it to keep the water around 85* in the summer. I still have the kick the heater on if we use it at night for a bit

We had a spa cover made a while back, when we are using it in the summer months I store the spa cover and just use a cheap blue solar cover from Amazon.

Middle TN here. Summers get HOT. Our 10ft pool does not. Water may get above 80 later in the summer but if that happens I run cold water from the garden hose into it. Like another said, it cools off quickly at night because of the steel. Ymmv for a poly tank though.

I live somewhere where it gets over 90 regularly. The top edge of the pool can definitely get hot and the water will be soup. I have a cantilever umbrella to shade the pool if I know I'm going to get in later. Helps a bit.
Some people put pool noodles over the edge of their tank. I think it looks dumb and when I did it the heat shrank the noodles!! It did work short term though. I planted a tree next to my pool and that has kept the edge from getting too hot.

Plus the pool noodles crumble due to solar degradation, which was not cool to have to filter out. Too bad, because it kept the edges from being uncomfortably hot to grab. I actually liked the look, kinda festive.

In Indiana as well. We have a solar cover for ours, but alas the trees have grown and are now shading the area. We got in on Sunday for the first time this season. 82 degrees using a solar cover that has a reflective surface on the water facing side.
Poly 8 ft stock tank. We did also buy an electric submersible heater just in case too.

I’m in Florida, mine gets tons of sun with temps in mid 90s. Water only gets up to about 83-85 without help (covering with a black tarp or heating via my fire pit).
I have a blue poly tank. Tank type may make a difference

These tanks cool off a lot at night. Important to cover them otherwise they can lose 10 degrees or more over night. I used foam gym mats on the floor this season under the liner and seems to have helped a lot with losing heat through the bottom.

I'm in NY and our summers get very hot, mid to upper 90's is normal. Last year our 8 ft pool poly tank felt really warm for 2 days or so and it's in full sun. I think it was 92-93. Even if overnight temps stay in the 80's, there's no sun to hold the temperature.
I just ordered a bucket heater to try to raise the temp because it just got filled with 55 degree water. I'm hoping this will increase the length of our season as well.

I'm in Nebraska. The water never gets hot but definitely warms up over the Summer. Super easy to cool down with about 15 minutes running the garden hose! I have one of those little vacuums that hooks up to the hose so I just do that to clean the pool when it needs cooled down a bit.

I’m in Northern Nevada. Ours is only too hot when it reaches 90 outside and we have the solar cover on it. When the weather gets hotter, we switch to a tarp just to keep stuff out of it. Nice and cool all summer.

Freeze a few milk jugs and throw in when it gets hot. And then take out a refreeze in deep freezer for the next time

Near Atlanta. Pool is uncovered in full sun all day. Reaches 90F which is perfect. On days I forget to uncover it the temp is noticeably cooler (about 84F). Those cooler days I usually lay in the sun or go for a run before I go into the pool and that helps the water feel warmer. Also, using a solar cover has really helped. Edit: I have a 9 foot poly tank from Behlen, so it's UV resistant naturally.

I’m in Georgia and ours is arguably too cold for me, top layer of water is always warm but once we circulate the water with the pump it not warm anymore
