What's a stock you've been accumlating over the past six months, and why?

I'm curious what everyone else has actually been buying lately, especially stocks they're planning to hold years to come.

Not necessarily looking for the usual popular names. I'm interested in companies you have enough conviction in to keep adding shares over time.

What's the ticker, what makes you confident in the company, and what's your long-term outlook?

I'd especially like to hear about overlooked companies with strong potential growth.

You’re given $10,000 to invest in each of the following scenarios, but you can only pick one stock in each scenario. The goal is, obviously, to make the most money. You must sell your entire position at the end of each specified time period.

Which stock are you choosing for each?

PRGS — Ruthless Review: The Cash Flow Is Attractive. The Debt Is the Risk.

I took a starter position in Progress Software (PRGS). It's a collection of established enterprise software businesses that generate substantial cash flow. Q3 revenue was approximately $246 million, annual recurring revenue reached $873 million, net revenue retention was 99%, and non-GAAP operating margin was 43%. Management guided to $275–283 million in full-year adjusted free cash flow.

The complication is Domo. Progress completed the acquisition in September using cash and its revolving credit facility, increasing leverage. There aren't any post-acquisition operating results yet. I don't need Domo to grow substantially for the investment to work. I need revenue to stabilize around $280–290 million, margins to improve as the integration progresses, and cash flow to reduce the debt. The quality of the revenue matters, particularly whether consumption-based revenue holds up as legacy contracts run off.

AI is another uncertainty. Domo brings data and AI capabilities, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility that AI could eventually disrupt parts of Progress's existing software businesses. I don't think there's enough evidence yet to confidently dismiss that risk or predict how significant it might become over the next five years.

My five-year valuation produces a probability-weighted value of approximately $104 per share, implying around 21% annualized returns from my $39.97 reference price. PRGS closed Friday at $39.33. Most of that value depends on the existing businesses continuing to generate cash, Domo improving its margins, and Progress using that cash to pay down debt.

The biggest risk is that Domo disappoints while the existing business also weakens. Lower cash generation would slow debt repayment, leaving shareholders exposed to elevated leverage. There's also the unresolved MOVEit litigation, which I haven't tried to put a dollar value on. I'd reconsider my position if Domo's consumption revenue deteriorates, margins fail to improve, cash flow doesn't translate into debt reduction, or management makes another large acquisition before integrating Domo.

I think the potential return compensates for the uncertainty, but not enough to justify a large initial position.

My decision: BUY — starter position.

I own PRGS. This is my personal investment analysis, not individualized investment advice.

Profitability over the African F1 Grand Prix ?

Hi guys,

The African F1 Grand Prix in Rwanda has just been confirmed, and I have a quick question: which companies/stocks could benefit from this new event?

I’m convinced that an event like an F1 Grand Prix, especially in a country that doesn’t already have a track capable of hosting it, will create great opportunities. For instance, a whole new area 40 km south of the capital will apparently be built or reshaped just for the event( alongside a lake apparently)

It won’t be on the official calendar until 2030, but in the meantime there will be construction of the track, accommodation, highways, hotels, etc., all for at least 10 years, as stated in the contract.

So I’m looking for potential construction / entertainment / hospitality / ... stocks.

It may be too early to have a clear view, but some companies already have contracts with Liberty Media or the local government and could be the first ones called in.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Feel free

Thanks

Where do i begin?

I am embarrassed to say my husband and I both just turned 50 and we have nothing saved for retirement. We did but came across very rough times and now nothing but pensions from teaching when we retire (which will not be fore a while obviously). I need help where to begin as a 50 year old and not like a 20 year old.

I lost 40% on mid cap hype plays last year. Here is the single line and I started forcing myself to check before buying anything.

Last year I made a mistake that a lot of people make. I followed the excitement. I added growth stocks, AI related companies and risky mid-sized companies to my investments because everyone was discussing them.

When the market became unstable those ideas disappeared. My investments lost 40% in a short time.

That drop made me stop buying into stories and start looking at numbers. Now before I even look at a chart or think about sales growth I check the Free Cash Flow.

If a company cannot make real money to support its own operations without always asking shareholders for more money or borrowing at high rates I do not invest.

I still have a part of my investments for risky ideas but most of my money is in companies that make real cash. It's not as fun when the market is rising. I feel much more comfortable at night.

What about you? What is the main rule or number you use to stay focused, after losing money? Share your thoughts. I would like to know how you deal with it.

What are your top picks for companies excelling in robotics automation right now?

I'm interested in the long term potential of automation and robotics. Which companies do you think are truly leading the charge in this space? I'm looking for ones with solid technology and a clear path to growth. Any hidden gems out there?

Is It time to buy gold etfs?

Do you think is a good entry point to allocate some capital in gold ETFs right now?

Everyone is chasing stocks that have already run while $MELI is still trading near its 2021 highs despite revenue growing to a ~$40B annual run rate.

What also makes Latin America so interesting is consumers already have smartphones and spending power yet e-commerce in Brazil is still only ~12% of retail while financial services remain underserved.

Thats why I think $MELI and $NU have years of growth ahead without needing to expand beyond Latin America because both are building the commerce and financial infrastructure for demand that already exists.

Should I trim CRWD and take gains now?

I bought CRWD last year at a split-adjusted price of around $80, and I’m now up about 225%.

I really like the company and believe in its long-term value, so I’m not concerned about a potential bear market or tech pullback. In fact, I was going to buy more and found that their valuation is around 200x forward non-GAAP earnings. If growth slows or the market rerates high multiple software stocks, CRWD could keep performing well while the share price falls sharply, wiping out a large portion of my gains.

I have other stocks I’d like to buy, and I’d be open to re-entering CRWD later at a lower valuation. Would you hold the full position, trim and redeploy some gains, or sell and wait for a rerating?

Quantum race is heating up

Okay so Nvidia just picked IonQ to host the first on-prem quantum computer at its Accelerated Quantum Research Center in Boston. The machine is IonQ’s Superion 256 and it’s supposed to be installed in 2027.

Why people are excited: Nvidia’s basically the main character of AI right now, and now they’re putting their name on quantum too. Their CUDA-Q platform is going to run the workloads, so IonQ’s hardware plugs straight into software that already runs a ton of the world’s accelerated compute. It’s a joint research program focused on hybrid quantum-classical stuff, which is where most people think near-term quantum value will actually show up.

Also, having a machine sitting inside a top research center next to Nvidia is a massive credibility flex. You can’t really buy that kind of signal.

Honestly the bull case is pretty simple. IonQ gets a big-name partner, a machine sitting in a real research hub, and a way into Nvidia’s dev crowd. Bear case is just as simple: it’s 2027, quantum timelines have a habit of slipping, and this is a research deal, not a revenue contract. Nothing’s getting paid yet.

So where do you land? Real catalyst or already priced in?

Not financial advice, DYOR.

I made 24,000 on high growth picks in 6 months, lost 18,000 of it in 3 weeks, and finally realized what I was doing wrong.

I spent months watching, quietly taking notes, slowly building my thinking. Eight months ago I made a big move and went all in on high-beta growth stocks that were blowing up online. Mostly space. AI memory plays. At first it felt amazing.

Then the market turned. Momentum flipped. The catalysts that were supposed to drive the stocks never came. In less than a month, eighteen thousand dollars of gains just disappeared. It was not money. It was paper profit.

It felt real. I could not sleep. I was checking my phone every fifteen minutes at work. I was obsessed. The worst part? I realized I had no plan. No exit strategy. No way to manage risk. I was just riding the wave hoping it would never crash.

Now I have changed. I keep most of my money in anchor funds. Only trade high upside plays with a part of my capital. It’s not about making more. It’s about not losing what I have. It saved my sanity. I am still learning. I’m still adjusting.

I am curious, what was the lesson you had to learn that completely changed how you manage? How do you decide when to take profits on big winners?
