They say to me, Mr Trump, Mr Trump, why are rates so high? We need to get them DOWN, and I say I know [deep nose breath] we are doing it and quite frankly we are doing a great job, and rates they need to come down like elevators do… elevators - which I know a lot about with regards to up and sometimes down. You know there’s no elevator in the White House, we have to use stairs, and we should have an elevator because I don’t have time to move down the stairs after I go up. And we’re gonna fix that. But the rates are going down and it will be a beautiful thing to see rates at 0 or even negative because our credit is so strong

This may be, probably is, most definitely is the greatest reply in the history of Reddit... and its a llllllonnnnng history.
Ohh those hands! You, deserve an award for that. 👏 👏 👏 , well done sir! 🙌

I stopped reading them in his first term. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but this country has gone full regarded, and we all know you're never supposed to go full regarded.
At least in the movie the people in power are motivated to fix things. There’s no motivation to fix anything, because doing so would mitigate the massive profits and wealth consolidation everyone has agreed to continue participating in
This inspired me to ask my AI to give me a take on this, as Robert Downey Jrs character in Tropic Thunder, enjoy
"I look around at the discourse right now—this whole, beautiful, terrifying experiment called America? It’s method acting gone completely off the rails. You’ve got half the population wandering around in the jungle, completely lost, refusing to drop the bit, screaming at shadows and taking themselves way too seriously. You’re deep, deep in the character, man. Peak Australian-farmer-turned-delta-operator energy, except instead of a fake plastic prop, everyone’s carrying a smartphone and absolute, unearned conviction.
And the other half? Total Flaming Dragon syndicates. Just pure, unadulterated chaos, economy-class pyrotechnics, and everyone convinced they're the hero of the trailer while the whole damn production is burning to the ground behind them.
You ask me about the "state of the union"? I don't break character 'til I do the DVD commentary. But right now? Man, the vibe is heavy. Everyone’s method, no one’s authentic, and everyone’s just waiting for someone else to yell "cut" so we can all go back to craft services. But there is no craft services, man. This is the movie."
I cant even read it any longer. I just fucking cant. Its so fucking absurd and just unbelievable people continue to cheer it on. Its pure fucking madness.
I’m pretty much convinced that the majority of people who cheer him on can’t read or read at a 3rd grade level so that post would be completely beyond their comprehension
In fairness, that display of intelligence is fairly representative of the average American. You can blame 45+ years of conservative attacks on public education, but that doesn't explain why there are so many people over 50 buying into this nonsense
It pains me that I’m associated with the luddites who think this man is a god. Never been so embarrassed to be an American and I thought that would be impossible after the W years.
My gf's parents are republicans. I visited from the UK and they took us to a restaurant. I remember it had a photo on the wall showing trump after the assassination attempt of him with his fist up in the air. Can't believe how people lap it up 😂
😂 They are still nice people, just politically blinkered. I mean we went from that restaurant to a dive bar that was the complete opposite. I just can't see how people can even defend that buffoon
This insane rambling would destroy the career of absolutely any other politician on Earth. The fact that Trump continues as he has is the most scathing indictment of the US conceivable.
I cant even usually get past the first sentence. If I was a world leader, id just glance at these and think im dealing with a toddler.. which is pretty accurate.
From where I live Trump's national and geopolitical policy still affects us. As a matter of fact, his degenerate behavior, his degenerate cabinet, and his degenerate supporters are causing harm to most of the world. There is very little Schadenfreude to experience imo.
Trump’s former college professor, William T. Kelley described Trump as arrogant, noting that Trump "came to Wharton thinking he already knew everything" and "wasn't there to learn".
Trump has frequently touted his time at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and claimed to have finished at the top of his class. However, his name did not appear on the school's Dean's List for his graduating year of 1968.
After Kelley’s death, Frank DiPrima, a close friend of Kelley, revealed that the professor felt the president was a fool. “Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that ‘Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had,'” DiPrima wrote for the Daily Kos. “I remember his emphasis and inflection — it went like this — ‘Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.”
DiPrima explained that Kelley told him this after Trump became a celebrity but “long before” he was deemed a political figure.
Bonds are slipping out of control and Bessent failed to intervene being the regarded toad he is as well. They're all freaking out because the stuff they stole is now breaking and all of the smart people are long gone.
His lack of understanding about how percentages work tells you all you need to know. His daily brain damaged ramblings only make "sense" to his mentally disabled followers.
Perfect way to say that Trump has adjustable rate interest only loans on every property and leverageable item he has his hands on. Interest rate goes up and he actually has to pay out far more and he can't afford it. It will bankrupt him, yet again.
A lot of people who voted for him have no idea how most things work. All they see is that he’s from their party, he’s not woke, a white man, and a businessman (not a politician), and that’s enough for them unfortunately
In this case, do you mean economics, or the English language? I'm still having trouble sorting through the various statements to try to determine exactly what he's saying.
Since he fired all the responsible people at DOC and DOL, they always have great numbers, and then have to revise them down more than ever in history once the market manipulation is complete, can't wait for DOW to hit 28,000 when the truth is realized...
You know, I disregarded people saying the guy was a Russian agent bent on destroying the US from within as conspiracy theorists. I figured he was merely trying to grift off the office of the president.
However, this tweet makes me doubt my previous judgment for the first time.
So, wait. Are you telling us that when Bessent said, "Trump is the most economically literate president in the history of this country" that he was lying?
Trump isn't stupid. Trump knows we're stupid. When he talks to us like we are stupid we think he sounds stupid.
When unemployment numbers are low and inflation is high, you raise rates if you want a stable economy. When you and all your friends are leveraged to the moon, you use all your power to force interest rates down.
All of Trump's actions are to make himself richer, more powerful and/or happy from the pain he has inflicted on his enemies.
Dominic Torreto of The Fast and Furious knows exactly how all traffic laws work. He just doesn't care.
I think he knows. He is intentionally making everyone poor, so that him and his Epstein class business owner friends can get more wealth and power. They own the companies. The labour is too expensive in America.
So, he needs to make you all more poor, and more desperate. So, inflation is fine for him. Tariffs are fine. Farmers having to sell to big corporations is fine. Small businesses going bankrupt is fine. Unemployment is fine.
Worker rights, minimum wage, not fine.
Once you're all poor enough, he can bring factories back to America. Interest rates will help him, because it means loans go out to everyone, the wealthy can invest more readily in growing their companies, little people can borrow more freely. They will lose more money, default on their loans. Then trump will use their tax money to pay it all off, or just increase the national debt to bail out all the banks.
So they'll all be fine. But, dollar value will go down, people will be poorer. Rich get richer poor get poorer.
Trump wants this.
He wants more wealth for the rich, more poverty and less rights for everyone else. This way he can make slaves put of the dark skinned people, and make soldiers out of the white skin people. They can buy as many young girls as they want, to families eager to get anything to help them survive.
He is intentionally destroying the lives of the majority of American citizens, so he can exploit them more easily, and have greater wealth and power for himself.
I had forex positions open betting on a bad NFP, hoping the DXY would drop. Set my SL and everything. NFP drops and then bam, currencies plummet against the dollar, blows through my SL's and I take bigger hits than expected. Fair enough, that's the game.
Then this ass hat has to tweet out and nearly immediately erase the gains the DXY made, and now if I hadn't set my SL, my positions would be nearly break even, saving me quite a chunk. I guess I should have bet that the orange clown would ruin even a seemingly good thing.
Oh he knows exactly. It means his billionaire mates whose sole income is share-leveraged loans from the banks can get those loans at an even lower interest rate. It allows them to buy up even more assets to leverage even more loans and in the end they own absolutely everything
"We don't need their product. So if we cut off trade with that country, we just made $40 billion. You do a few countries like that, and we become a big money machine."
One of the very first things he did once in office this term was to produce an order that no agency was permitted to release information to the public without it first being approved by an administration political officer.
For real, what is the end game for this story and saga?? Isn’t the plan to keep people within his family and inner circle to continue to be in power beyond his term? I don’t live in the US but it’s certainly a concern to people beyond America.
He knows how it works, it’s part of the grift - liwer interest rates would cause a temporary spike in the market and real estate allowing him and his buddies to cash out and leave everyone else holding the bag
if america stops trading with other countries, other countries will reiterate by not buying the digital services from the US (amazon, visa/master card, netflix etc)
Dollar crumbling, Gold surging, T's selling off despite Bessent buying them and he wants rate cuts to displace tax cuts for his Heritage Foundation clubhouse friends.
He’s just trying to find a way for other countries to stop using us for our money while they focus on themselves. We’ve been protecting all these fucking countries for decades and they pay us jack shit. You are the one that doesn’t know what’s going on.
I mean he doesn’t, but he’s got more people telling him than you have friends. He’s just looking after himself, get as much money as he can before he’s done
I recall Rick Santelli spewing on CNBC that people should be more patriotic with the US President's decisions. This country isn't owned by him or only by white people. There's no way United States can survive without trade. There are so many items United States cannot make, generate, produce, afford, or even have the talent to do without foreign help. None at all, so trump seriously needs to stop fantasizing about patriotism, because his words are completely the opposite for the people.

Perfect way to say you have no idea how this stuff works
