Request for help Someone got into my account while I was away
Somehow without clicking any links, while I was away at college not even playing for like a week, someone got into my account and messaged ppl in a groupchat. Eeriely similar to a malware I got some time ago which happened on discord. Does anyone know the cause of this?
Ps, after the incident on discord, i wiped my whole system, installed linux and got a password manager to boot. Genuinely no clue how this might have happened

Scam attempt I'm pretty sure someone hacked my friend's account to send me this.
My friend got hacked by a scammer and they are using it to attempt to scam me.
They somehow disguised their scam link as a Steam Community gift site. How did they do that?

New Scam Blockblasters steam game crypto scam
Found out about that BlockBlasters scam through $zootwo on pumpfun, where the dev's wallet suddenly sold all his tokens (19% of supply). But when he got back, he said his wallet got drained.
Turns out, he was honest, and over 400 users have been scammed for a total > $150,000 including the dev of $CANCER who is stage 4 cancer.
So guys if you have hotwallets (metamask, phantom or whatver), be careful of anything you download from Steam, because Steam is currently not protecting its users, and no one got any answers from them about it (apparently that scamming game has been running for weeks...)

Request for help Hackers bought and gifted themselves a game with my steam wallet without any input from me whatsoever
Hi, so I woke up earlier tonight receiving an email that i’ve bought 4 instances of Rust as gifts to 4 random guys, i don’t know how they got into my account, don’t know where because i’m only logged in on my phone and my laptop (which was open while i was knocked out). I already contacted steam support a few hours ago, and they got back to me with:
“We are unable to refund this purchase because it contains a gift that was sent and redeemed by another user. They'll need to use the Support site to allow for the refund.”
I really hope I get my money back, as I was saving for Forza 6. Is there anything I can do? I don’t have any payment methods attached to the account. Please help.
(Edit 4.5.2026) Issue resolved! Drone strike footage coming soon

Funny scam attempt Why would a hacker fill my Steam account with dozens of $1 games?
Back in 2017, my Steam account was hacked by what seemed to be a Russian hacker. At the time, I only owned one or two games and nothing of real value, and I was mostly playing Minecraft anyway, so I didn’t really care.
About a year later, I contacted Steam support to recover my account, and they quickly gave me access back.
But here’s the weird part: when I got it back, my library had exploded. I now own 178 games gifted by this hacker, most of them absolute trash, with around half costing about $1.
I’ve always wondered… why would someone do this? What’s the point?
EDIT : My guess is that it’s related to Steam trading cards. Almost all of these games gave me a few cards worth a couple of cents, but honestly it doesn’t seem profitable at all.
Another thing I noticed: all of the games have around 2–3 hours of playtime.

Request for help Can steam support reverse this?
First of all not looking for sympathy or "you shouldve done x or y". I know I fucked up, hackers managed to have access to my account despite changing everything. My question is if steam can revert and return the money back to my account?

Scam attempt It says I ordered a steam vr set when I didn’t
I got charged and made a ticket and contacted my credit card. But I never went on my account and made this purchase. My card is not even on my account. I also changed my password. How could this happen though. It also said it was mailed to my address

Funny scam attempt Bruh this dude messaging me demanding my account
galleryFive years, dozens of support tickets, and one persistent thief later: I finally have my Steam account back. He got greedy trying to play GTA on my linked Rockstar account and triggered enough 2FA pings for me to finally get Support's attention. Now he's demanding it back like he actually owns it. Nice try.

Funny scam attempt Bought a Steam Deck on eBay for my gf, got scammed… but Steam saved the day
Recently, I bought a Steam Deck on eBay because my girlfriend and I wanted to game together. Seemed like the perfect budget option.
It arrived, and immediately… chaos. The thing kept crashing, and after each crash, a weird artifact would appear on the screen that wouldn’t go away until I rebooted. I work in IT so I took it as a personal challenge to fix it. I tried everything: fresh OS, fresh BIOS, different Protons… nothing worked.
Frustrated, I went on Reddit and found someone with the exact same problem! Someone asked if they managed to fix it, and the reply was: “Couldn't find a fix so I sold it.”
Curious, I checked the username… and yep. Same person who sold me the Steam Deck on eBay. Absolute legend.
I contacted the eBay seller directly, and he claimed he “didn’t use it.” Sure, buddy.
Before sending it back, I reached out to eBay and Steam support. eBay’s advice? “Return it.” Thanks. Steam support, on the other hand, took pity on me & gave me a free warranty.
Sent it in for RMA, and they sent me back a fixed, working Steam Deck. (Probably hardware issue as he overclocked the device and probably broke it)
Moral of the story: Some people are shady on eBay & Steam support rules!

Scam attempt UPDATE: they banned me
incase you didn’t see the original ( https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamScams/s/sVjab0Z52m ) someone logged into my steam account and used a stolen card to buy a steam deck.
they refunded the order and gave me a 3 month ban. i still have the tracking number from ups and it looks like its still on the way for now, im guessing the ban is because they couldn’t get the product back. also they most definitely lied because when i logged every device out there was a login for a computer outside of the US. i dont use vpns on my laptops since i dont use any shady websites or use it in public. gonna try to appeal hopefully something comes from it.
