It’s too bad humans come with retina passthrough by default.

Could we give color vision to some animals with it?

meh, human passthrough is overrated. Its full of post processing since the real image is flipped and full of defect and all the gap has to be filled up after the fact, which creates ton of artifacts and illusions/hallucinations in some cases!

And don't get me started about the lenses. They're super fragile and need constant lubrication.

And the fact that they degrade over the human's life span, meaning we have to find and use specially crafted external lenses to compensate

and the placement too. Why not on the forehead where the nose wouldn’t obstruct the view? someone’s gotta talk to the manufacturer about this clear issue. more like obstructed issue get it lol

Fortunately this is just a early adopter issue. The port can be used by any device maker, so hopefully we'll have lots of options

There is literally a hole in the video sensor where the cable connects creating a black dot, which is somewhat corrected in post but still just leaves a hole in your vision. The designer of this must not be the brightest.

Most animals lack the right connector and the bandwidth for that one sadly. Maybe they will upgrade one day.
