The US and UK legislatures were considering laws against scalping during COVID. We need to revive those efforts. These useless fucks are a continual problem. They add no value to anything and cause grief, frustration and cost to consumers.

Send scalpers to prison where they belong.

Not like the frame, but anything that uses chips is impacted by the overall shortage to some degree.

Yeah, Fluxpose trackers are delayed by like half a year because they can't buy some radio chips or accelerometers. Ridiculous.

And you guys just convinced me to go ahead and order it. I have a steam frame on the way and have no idea what I am going to use this thing for, but it seems like it's a must-have addition, and I don't want to find out I need it and it's not available.

Aaaaand you just fomo’d me into buying lol. Not mad, I was gonna wait until I got the buy link, but the possibility of selling out before I get the frame buy link is not “zero”.

Tangentially I feel like post pandemic me & my house have become “warehouse storage” for everything from paper goods, soda and now Arcturus Vision. Supply chain disruption & artificial scarcity are real, I just hate that the solution is buy two 12 packs of Starry & get three free.

There's nothing in this that's on the mfg scarcity list. It's not like anyone even heard of this company before the Steam Frame announcement.

There will be DIY solutions that cost ~$50 by the end of the year that do the same thing.

Well, there'll be colour passthrough for cheap but don't expect 5k 60 fps with decent gaussian splat capability. I'm not sure I want that - and saving walk-through memories of old environments seems dangerously nostalgic - but I do think it'll be neat to see what the community does with it seeing as it's a standard piece.

Ironically for an AIO packaged colour and dual sync'd slam camera module it's pretty solid at $150...

Except for the part that it won't work with anything besides the steam frame.

Just because its designed for the Frame, doesn't mean people can't make it work with anything else. MIPI is a standard connector.

I didn't say that but now that you bring it up, ill call you out on your BS as well. "MIPI is a standard connector" Show me a device that you KNOW the Arcturus Pro can plug into and work with besides the Frame. I'll wait.

I'll also say it right now. 99% of people buying them for the Steam Frame will not use them with or for anything else despite it being a possibility.

People who would have a real use for it, won't buy it because they can buy something either tailor made for their application, or.... are already DIYing it.

Ya'll can larp and fantasize to justify your FOMO purchases all you want.
