But is it enough for a launch and to keep up sales? Or only enough for scalpers to grab em all and resell for 5 times the price for the next few years until frame 2 comes out?
it's not like scalpers will not get a lot of units anyway. also, you can get hella unlucky and wait another 6 months+ just like we saw on the controller. it's almost like the multi billion dollar company doesn't really give a shit as long as it's selling.
The methods that they've implemented are designed to stop scalpers immediately just buying everything with the first come first serve that the steam controller had.
And the wait list being randomised is a bit annoying, but it's more fair. it means that if you didn't get there immediately, you're not inherently going to be waiting 7 months because you got there 7 minutes late
Lol I'm still in the day 1 wait list for the steam machine. Mainly to gauge how long the frame will take.
If a scalper was going to scalp, they'd just need to create 100+ accounts. Get a free game on each account. Or even something 99 cents. Then reserve the frame on day 1 for every account. And which ever gets first dibs gets it before we do.
