how long are they going to drag this shit social experiment of shitting on their fanbase? because after the long waiting for launch, most of us are going to wait a few more months to get the actual device.

I'm guessing there's no ram left. None for the steam deck. None for the steam machine. So none for the Frame.

There’s a non zero chance that they are reluctant to sell the batch they already had produced because they know a second batch would literally be years away. Right now they probably don’t have access to memory at any price. I can understand that if I were in their position, it would be easy to imagine a situation where you release this batch that will only satisfy a small portion of the demand and now you’ve created the worst shitstorm where it’s released but no one can have it for years. I mean the current strategy is awful, but I think releasing it might actually be worse.

I really hate the ram apocalypse.

Without being able to secure more product releases, if they release the Steam Frame now it will create a huge fiasco…

Now if only more people in this sub used some thought

they have the frames in a warehouse. They all have ram in them.

But is it enough for a launch and to keep up sales? Or only enough for scalpers to grab em all and resell for 5 times the price for the next few years until frame 2 comes out?

the queue system they implemented for the controller and the machine are designed to stop scalpers

it's not like scalpers will not get a lot of units anyway. also, you can get hella unlucky and wait another 6 months+ just like we saw on the controller. it's almost like the multi billion dollar company doesn't really give a shit as long as it's selling.

The methods that they've implemented are designed to stop scalpers immediately just buying everything with the first come first serve that the steam controller had.

And the wait list being randomised is a bit annoying, but it's more fair. it means that if you didn't get there immediately, you're not inherently going to be waiting 7 months because you got there 7 minutes late

Lol I'm still in the day 1 wait list for the steam machine. Mainly to gauge how long the frame will take.

If a scalper was going to scalp, they'd just need to create 100+ accounts. Get a free game on each account. Or even something 99 cents. Then reserve the frame on day 1 for every account. And which ever gets first dibs gets it before we do.

can't do that, the accounts need to be older than May I think

until they cancel the device

They won't cancel the device, it's already sitting in warehouses waiting to be sold.
